Wow that ramp looks clean! I didn’t think I was gonna like it when you were showing the mock up, but brilliant execution. It looks awesome!

I do my zero frets exactly this way, too. It always works.

I like the idea of a zero fret for the uniformity of tone between fretted and open strings, but the earthing idea is a stroke of genius.

Nice explanation of the zero fret, think the ramp would look great with an inlay similar to the 12th fret one but still looking awesome as is 👍

That was actually on the original plan, but we decided it might look a little fussy. A large Celtic cross will be on the custom case instead!

Wow, I really enjoyed watching this! Just the production is brilliant, but you do a fab job of explaining everything. :) Another channel I'm hooked on :)

Brian May built his Red Special with a zero fret. If it's good enough for Brian then it's good enough for me. 😁 Plus they make slotting the nut a doddle.

Great idea for the zero fret. Solves both the grounding and string height. I used a zero fret on my first build and the action feels amazing because of it.

unless the zero fret is stainless steel it will wear out pretty fast, on my 7string headless guitar it was noticably worn after 3 months of regular play.

Great video as always Chris, I like the bass ramp idea, I may try that. You are using the zero fret to ground the strings so have you inlayed a ground wire thru the neck? Sorry I’ve not seen all the videos. Cheers Dave
@KingBespokeCreations2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, the ground wire will go to the first bridge piece, then all the string will be connected at the zero fret. 👍

Typically, a bass ramp is used more for slap playing than anything else, it gives the player a place to slap without having to slap over the last couple frets, and the strings better "action" when slapping. 😉

Not getting the same sound there + harmonic options. I like that it protects the pickups from the strings.
