Kind of symbolic and telling how, in the comic, all the 'new' metahumans with their edgy aesthetic were all killed, just like how most of them disappeared after the 90s and superman's generation are the only ones left. Goes to show how timeless they are and that the 'fad, trendy' heroes didn't stay long.

What's amazing about it is that KC is the Author's clapback to all those edgy and overtly cynical comics that came out of the 90's. Both heroes and villains, cared not of saving lives. But rather just to sate their bloodlust.

In the same way that you characterize Kingdom Come as the epilogue of the DC Universe, New Frontier is that starry-eyed, bright-and-shiny prologue for so many of the greatest stories told in comics, and an absolute perfect parallel to the severe, dramatic tone taken by Kingdom Come.

Definitely up there as one of the best ever. It's vision of the DC Universe, its characters, and its future are very relevant even (especially) now and the story itself has those biblical and heroic themes behind it. Heroes doing their best to stay true even as the world grows darker and rejects them, with the long defeat culminating in a glimpse of final victory. It's the ultimate DC story in that way. I hope that we get an adaptation do this justice or at least take its message to heart. Maybe a live-action adaptation with Brandon Routh's Superman from CW's Crisis but on HBO Max.

In the case of Kingdom Come Superman and the other heroes start out as this gods wanting to help make the world better, but in the end, they had to recognize that their actions end up affecting people's trust in the super heroes, making decide in the end to try to regain the people's trust., recognizing their mistake in order to become better.

I could (and have) look at Alex's paintings for hours w/o any dialogue. Just the art alone is satisfying enough. Simply amazing and he's a big reason I got into adding color into my pieces. Especially his lighting/shading contrast is too tier

It took me almost 20 years to get my Softcover & Hardcover copies of Kingdom Come signed by both Mark Waid & Alex Ross. 1998 at the Warner Bros Store in Glendale Ca for Alex Ross & 2014 Wondercon Anaheim Ca for the Stump Mark Waid Pannel which I successfully did.

Every comic fan I have talked to is as confused as I am as to why Kingdom Come was never made into a movie. I think it would break all superhero box office records but with a caveat. It seems that most times, when a great story is turned into a movie, the director, or whoever is calling the shots, finds a way to screw it up. I think if this was made into a movie or even a mini-series that it could be the standard in which all future superhero movies would be compared to but only if they stick to the spirit of the original story. Don't screw around with the characters or the original storyline or even the ending. Simply take the story and bring it to life. If they want a litmus test then do a cartoon version first and again, stick to the spirit of the original story and see what kind of fan response you get. I would almost guarantee that the response would be overwhelmingly positive. If you screw around with the story then I also can almost guarantee you that the response will be negative because that is not what fans of Kingdom Come will want to see.

I love the video overall, but one small thing bothers me, Billy Batson is Captain Marvel, he’s never called anything else throughout the whole book because at that point he’d never been named anything else, calling him Shazam is incorrect to the story.
