I’m interested in the superboss deep dive vid. Also, one thing that gets me about the design behind the superbosses across the series is that Nomura doesn’t outright have a stated philosophy behind them. He just tells his teams to make the bosses so hard he can’t beat them. So it really just comes down to the what the dev teams he works with are thinking and how they go about things.

I don't think the new lore additions undermine anything per se. It's just the way it's conveyed that makes it difficult for most to digest. Especially when it's through mobile games and lore reads. I really enjoy the story for it's added mechanics and interesting reveals that come along with it. And I really don't agree with your take on the graphics. I think the new art style looks superior and looks very well fit for various art styles across different Disney properties and it makes the new characters look amazing. Also for me the story of Re mind was the best part. The data fights were good but the final story of remind was amazing and had me at awe seeing Micky limp forward made me so happy.

Hey Guy, just finished the game and went here to finally watch the reviews. Regarding the music, I'm a bit torn. Although many of the re-orchestrated tracks in KH 3 are fantastic, I was a bit sad that we have practically 0 new musical ideas (except for the Disney worlds). It's all just remixes and combinations of old material. On one hand that makes sense, since barely any new characters or places introduce, but on the other hand, it makes it all the more obvious that the game is just treading old ground, unable to go in fresh new directions.

29:38 Nomura actually explained in an interview that the Organization was grouped together like this for expediency's sake. While he recognized players' will to fight everyone one-on-one, he felt that a non-stop gauntlet of 13 boss individual boss fights would make the final world feel bloated and exhausting (I would argue the World Terminus homage with the Lich fight already does this to some extent). Personally I can't fault him for feeling that way, I might even agree. And now that Limit Cut gives us those one-on-ones, I have no real reason to complain. And it's not like those fights couldn't be challenging, particularly on Critical Mode.
@demonking-zm3rs3 жыл бұрын
It feels like at this point the crippling restrictions and the fact that games are a collaborative effort doesn't matter to people its easy to scream" Nomura" when honestly people should feel bad not like dealing with Disney and Pixar is fun or when square forces you to be a director then people blame you when they don't like the collective effort and decisions made by a team and not just one person. I wonder if people even get that square wanted more games and things needed to be shoved in and not a lot of people could keep a bunch of lore canon while being told "Make more games even more Nomura we don't care about your passion project .KH makes money"

Pretty good video, I agree with some of the stuff you said quite a lot. I wanted to mention though, I neat thing I thought about Xion's light pillar attacks during her Data fight is that they reduce your maximum hp. Sure, she isn't the only character to do this amongst the superbosses, but the fact it's so prevalent as a mechanic in the game makes me think it's a nod to how she was "stealing" Sora's memories in 358/2.

This is why I go out of my way to refer to them as the "seekers of Darkness" as they're described in kh3ds, instead of calling them "real" organization XII, because they are not the same, and should be treated as two separate groups. It's partially why I'm still lowkey waiting for someone to mod and replace the members' black coats with the fancy purple robes that the replica Xehanorts wore, just to help reinforce the idea that they have no affiliation whatsoever with the original org xiii.

These videos are cathartic for me. Seeing that I'm not the only one frustrated with the half-assery and retcons. It really does make it hard to care about the series when the figurative final puzzle piece we get after 10 years comes from a completely different image, still doesn't fit right, and there's still holes in the picture. Maybe we'd be in a different spot if KH3 didn't get put on the back burner for so long.
@oreotaku40173 жыл бұрын
I don’t really mind the recons. I’ve seen examples of both good and, bad ones but it’s always the bad ones people bring attention to. I’m not some due hard fan that thinks Nomura planned it all out from the beginning, but it’s obvious he had some idea of what he wanted to do. Probably something more like after working on KH1 he had a rough line to 3 if the series went on that far. Maybe something like 2, 0(bbs), 3 with some wiggle room between main games to flesh things out or do some set up if need be. Which he did, if only for the fact that he was working on a completely different big project after 2. The Nomura we have now on KH3 isn’t the same Nomura that was on KH2. He’s spent a decade working on another vastly different project that suffered set back after set back before being shot in a field somewhere and rebranded as FF15. I do agree with you that if KH3 wasn’t put in the backseat for a decade while Nomura was busy with Versus13 it probably would have been a much more in line with Kh 1&2.

At first I thought I'd made a huge mistake when I realized you couldn't lower the difficulty about 6 hours in and I kept getting stuck. The way even one more ability can turn an impossible fight into a cakewalk can be immensely satisfying. I guess KH2 is next. Chain of Memories is the only one ever finished (on GBA.) In regards keyblades potentially being the source of light/elemental based powers, and why the powers persist even when no keyblade is present, I always assumed the keyblades worked like tags-and-crests from Digimon Adventure. That is to say that they are a way to tap into, and focus, an internal power. As an individual continues to use the focus to tap into their inner power, like working a spiritual set of muscles, the user's internal power and skill grow to the point where they can use their abilities, even without their focus, in this instance without their keyblade.

I always figured the reformed organization member just kept their power from their nobody forms. As for Roxas and Xion, I kind of figured their light powers came from Kairi as Roxas was formed when Sora freed Kairi from inside him and Xion is based on Sora's memories of Kairi. Also I don't think it's a stretch to say that people can use magic without needing a keyblade. All of the Final Fantasy characters did it and so does Donald. The og Organization 13 did not have those grand powers unless they were at their limit forms as we know in 358/2. We know this because they attacked normally when we paired up with them for missions. Same as Roxas. My head cannon is that they would train themselves to use only their limit forms to beat Sora since there is no other way to fight him normally. Thus, they would only use minions to fight him instead of fighting him because they would risk their “lives” if they used their limit forms against him.

i always assumed that the organisation member's weapons were proto-keyblades similar to rikus darkness wing sword before it became a keyblade, and that the reason they all became special nobodies came from their potential to eventually become keyblade wielders. becoming nobodies didnt give them awesome element powers and weapons, they where simply badasses that fell to the heartless. i mean we basically have a pattern already, riku's wing sword and lea's chakrams basically just turned into keyblades with how similar their keyblade designs are, that's two for two.
