Disney worlds are not quite important other than advertising purposes and nostalgia because every watched Disney when they were a kid. The game itself is leaning more towards Final Fantasy than Disney with their convoluted plot. I guess this is how majority of KH fans got hook to this game since the beginning. It's because it shows Disney characters that everyone knew and wanted to go to places that they want to explore. Like do you want to go to Monsters World with Sully and Mike or be a toy in the world of Toys Story with Tim Allen and Tom Hanks?

The only game that really managed to blend the Disney characters into the plot was the very first one, with the whole princesses of hearts plot and Maleficent being a main antagonist, other than that with each passing game the Disney stuff becomes less relevant. IMO since Kingdom Hearts 2 (or Chain of Memories if you played that) the Disney stuff has being in the backseat. Which is kinda ironic that in Kingdom hearts 3 the majority of the time is spent is Disney worlds that had nothing to do with the main plot and there's no Final Fantasy cameos at all.

In 3019 humanity a surviving group known as Darkness and their rival group light held descendants of the original developers and they finished KH4 20 years later.
