So... it turns out the English translation completely botched the script of this game. The most important person to Sora was actually Riku. Naminé wasnt changing his memories to replace Kairi, she was changing them to replace Riku. No wonder this game's story made zero sense to me. Kairi wasn't THAT important to him. Riku was, not to mention he was also in the castle.
