Kingdom Hearts Trivia! End of the World is the only place where you can freely explore Oogie's Torture chamber, as in Halloween Town you only go in there once for the boss fight and then you can never enter it again because it gets kerplooied.

The End of the World always gives me chills. That music. I heard that early concepts of the game would have the final area be climbing Bald Mountain and fighting Chernabog as the final boss. Might've been when they still wanted Mickey or Donald to be the main character.

The fact that this area uses... either the same or very similar music to the Dive to the Heart at the very beginning of the game is a great touch. It's also such a visually-cool world.

The section after Chernabog, and just before the final mook rush, is there to show off what happens to the remains of worlds that are destroyed. Embedded in the walls, you can see areas from Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast all in ruin and despair. Earlier with the pink portals was the World Terminus, how the Heartless managed to infiltrate the worlds you visited. Monstro is not there because he's technically not a world. If you didn't seal any world's keyhole, the fights in that world's portal would be mandatory.

Curt Clark Well, I believe that you can choose to not do Halloween town or Atlantica. Basically, you just need to find a path to Neverland. Also, you don't have to seal Olympus's keyhole.

Curt Clark There are worlds you can passover and thus miss sealing the Keyhole. Olympus Coliseum, Atlantica, Halloween Town, and 100 Acre Wood can be passed.

Chernabog isn't Satan. He's kind of Satan-Lite, a sort of Slavic equivalent who's not considered very important, which is why Disney got away with using him instead of the actual Lucifer - they gave him the name of the lesser pagan deity to pacify religious objectors. Though technically he could be both, as 'Satan' is just a catch-all term for any adversary in the Bible, not referring to any one being.

Wow, Donald was surprisingly useful during that Chernabog fight. He used Aero on you at all the right times and even got a heal in there. Since you mentioned Goofy's MP Gift, I should mention he can sometimes be super duper useful if you disable every ability except MP Gift and give him as much MP as possible. Every MP he has is three for Sora and you guarantee he won't use it for anything else.

The plot of this series is convoluted, but I think that's part of its charm. I mean, the setup is already outlandish, so a simple plot might not have been as memorable or as impactful.

With how magic works, more expensive spells are more worthwhile when mp is low than full. Cure is very affordable to recover mp from zero blue bars to one than going from 5 bars to six.

I haven't seen kingdom hearts played all the way through, and the princess story made me think that maybe Ariel couldn't be one of the 7 because she can't breathe air, so they had to use Alice instead. (This was probably already proven years ago though).

Actually, I think the going theory is that Ariel's whole "deal with the devil" moment kind of makes it difficult to claim that she has no darkness in her heart-- though I'm sure that it also would've been difficult figuring out how to handle her once the Princesses were out of their containment bubbles!

MULTI-PHASE BOSS TEXT AHEAD PHASE ONE: PREFACE I spent nearly 4 hours on this, so have fun! This is composed mostly of information I dug up puttering around on the wiki that I felt is pertinent to this playthrough and would make Dan's life (and possibly other peoples' as well) a heck of a lot easier. So, after 4 hours in development, I hope it was worth the wait. PHASE TWO: NOTABLE NON-BOSS ENEMIES Here is a list of enemies that, while not technically being bosses, do drop some handy things, along with spawn locations, drops, and some tips. Most of them don't spawn until after Kairi is liberated except for Black Ballade and Pink Agaricus, both of which you've already met. All of them drop special stones of each of the elements, it seems, and virtually no other blokes in the game will drop them. Said gems are also necessary crafting materials for the higher-tier crafting recipes, so you'll just have to run in and out of their areas until they show up. Defeat, Rinse, Repeat. - Gigas Shadow: Bizarre Room in Wonderland in Shrink Mode; Normal Shadows, except they're scaled to Sora's non-tiny size! They don't go flat like the normal ones, but if one of them hits you once they will all run away; Can drop Fury Stones. - Chimaera: Former location of Oogie's Manor; Practically a boss-in-mook's-clothing but as far as I know it gets no special fanfare whatsoever; You can tell it will spawn if the red trinity on the floor is missing; Can drop a Blaze Stone. - Grand Ghost: Monstro's Stomach; You found him earlier, he can only be harmed by healing items (Trying magic or physical attacks will make him retaliate instead, which is why he wrecked you so hard (because Donald & Goof kept trying to hit him)); Can drop Freezing Drops. - Black Ballade: Bamboo Thicket in Deep Jungle; Found earlier by you, he spawns 4 duplicates that hurt you if you hit them (The real one is rather jumpy, hitting him is safe); Can drop Thunder Stones - Pot Scorpion: Palace Gates in Agrabah; One spawns amongst a total of 12 pots (The other 11 pots can get nudged but the Scorpion can't); The last empty pot has a chance of dropping the Mythril Stone (Which is the only way to get this unique item); The scorpion itself is invincible until one of its attacks gets blocked at which point it gets flipped over, allowing you to whale on it for a bit) - Pink Agaricus: Giant Green Mushroom dude; Deep Jungle's Tree House & Atlantica's Undersea Cave; Cast Stop on all the white mushrooms before it and then try to hit it 100 times while it's stopped using repeated Stop spells (Stop resets its timer when cast before it ends); It gives you much goodies, including its own mushroom cap at 100 hits; Donald and Goofy's hits count negative though, so try and set them to minimal attack beforehand; This dude drops a couple different things that nobody else drops, including Serenity Powers. - Sniper Wild: Second District of Traverse Town: Take out as many as you can without being seen for increased odds of getting a Power Drop (They spawn in chains, of batches one, two, and three repeatedly until you get seen. - Neoshadow: End of the World; Only comes in groups of seven, these guys are practically a miniboss when put together and have four different phases of combat that can loop into itself over and over if the last one standing succeeds in rezzing the other six; The last one in a group of seven can drop a Stormy Stone 35% of the time, which is the only way to get these and also necessary for crafting Ultima Weapon. - Stealth Soldier: Entrance Hall in Hollow Bastion; Super Sayan versions of regular soldiers! And invisible to boot! Can drop Energy Stones - Jet Balloon: Deck of the Pirate Ship in Neverland; Basically a flying version of the Aquatanks in Neverland, it fires Missile Divers at you, which are high-speed trident-less versions of the green divers in Atlantica; Drops Dazzling Stones, but be sure to catch them before they plunge into the briny depths of the sea PHASE THREE: MISCELLANEOUS TIPS AND TRICKS, RANGING FROM TRIVIAL TO VITALLY IMPORTANT - Get Leaf Bracer if you plan on taking on Sephiroth or Unknown as it makes you invincible and un-interruptible while healing. A must if you don't want to play to the pattern of Sephiroth and would rather go for the classic "Spam X To Continue" strategy that everybody starts by using. - Speaking of, don't use the "Spam X to Continue" strat too much as it will fail you in Kingdom Hearts II and against the optional bosses in this game. Equip the Guard ability instead and switch your tactic to "Spam Square To Continue." Alternatively, equip Strike Raid and learn the "Spam Triangle To Continue" strategy as you are invincible while doing it as long as you keep the rhythm going (And in II, if you actually observe when to press it at the right time it will usually play the bosses for you when it isn't doing Strike Raid). - Go back to the Tea Party Garden in Wonderland and sit on all the chairs for varying amounts of enemies and loot. - FOR GOODNESS SAKE USE TINKER BELL FOR ALL DE GOOD THINGS PHASE FOUR: ANSEM REPORTS The last Ansem Reports you're looking for (You've currently got 1, 3, 7, and 9, so once you complete the set you should reread them in order so they make more sense): - Report #2, #4, #6, #10: Talk to Aerith in Hollow Bastion's Library after she leaves Traverse Town (Belle is also here and will fork over a keyblade if you talk to her). - Report #8: Beat the living hide out of Hades in the Hades Cup - Report #11: Eat the heart of of Kurt Zisa (for those out of the loop, you can find him by talking to Magic Carpet at Aladdin's place after freeing Kairi) - Report #12: Surive Sephiroth (ohh nooooooooo) - Report #13: Defeat the Unknown (found by reentering the Dragon Maleficent portal in Hollow Bastion) Difficulty is roughly on par with Sephiroth if not noticeably harder or easier depending on your playstyle (which given your current playstyle is likely "significantly harder"). PHASE FIVE: ULTIMA WEAPON And the Ultima Weapon Section! - Ultima Weapon shows up once you unlock the sixth section of the synthesizer shop's menu (Which takes the crafting of the previous 30 items to unlock and also has some pretty sweet gear available for ol' Donald 'n Goofy) and needs 5 Thunder Gems, 5 Mystery Goo's, 3 Serenity Powers, 3 Stormy Stones, and 3 Dark Matter (This is for Final Mix; the regular version only has 5 synth sections and also a different crafting recipe). - Ultima Weapon grants +14 strength, + 2 MP, x2 Crit Power, and + 2 Crit Bonus (whatever that means, I dunno) but has a recoil of 90 (which is a lot considering every other keyblade has a recoil of 1 but I don't know what that means). - Obviously, Ultima Weapon is the best weapon in the game. Buuut - Oblivion (your current keyblade) is the second best physical damage dealer with a bonus of +11 strength. - Wishing Star (The one you got from Gepetto) always crits (but has one of the shortest reaches and only + 6 strength in comparison). - Diamond Dust (Gotten by beating Ice Titan in the Gold Match (Which you should because he's an optional boss mate)) beats Ultima Weapon in MP at +3 MP (which is 1 better and is useful for bashing those dang green mushrooms to smithereens using Stop spell chains). PHASE SIX: GETTING CRAFTING MATERIALS FOR ULTIMA WEAPON Crafting Material obtaination for the Ultima Weapon! - Thunder Gems: Aquatanks, Screwdivers, White Mushrooms (w/proper spell) and Bambi. Atlantica, oh boy! - Mystery Goos: Black Fungus, Rare Truffle, White Mushroom (Will sometimes drop these on a success). Black Fungi only give you their rewards when you finish them with crits, combo finishers, or sending-flying-ifying attacks, and even then only rarely. And the Rare Truffles need you to be a master enemy juggler, so good luck with that. You can find Black Fungi in Agrabah, Halloween Town, Hollow Bastion, and End of the World. Rare Truffles are just rare. - Serenity Powers: Bash Pink Agaricus at least 40 times for 10% chance, 70 times for 20%, or go the full 100 for a garunteed drop. Nobody else drops it though, so you will have to go ham on some giant mushrooms. - Stormy Stones: Neoshadows only. And of those, only the last man in a group of seven has a 35% chance of dropping it. And they only spawn in the End of the World. - Dark Matter: No enemy drops this. You will have to find it in loot. Loot spots are: Pegasus Cup Time Trial reward, reward for getting all the fruit in the third Jungle Slider course, Yellow Trinity in Captain Hook's ships' Hold room, White Trinity in Monstro Chamber 6, Chest in Tea Party Garden in Wonderland, Chest in Main Street of Agrabah, Chest in Halloween Town's Cemetery area, Chest in the 100 Acre Wood Bouncing Spot, Chest in Traverse Town's Waterway, Chest in the Grand Hall, Chest in the End of the World's Giant Crevasse (Already Obtained). PHASE SEVEN: GETTING THE REST OF THE KEYBLADES 1. Olympia (Hiding in the lobby of the Olympic Colosseum) 2. Lionheart (Bash in Leon + Cloud in Hades Cup) 3. Lady Luck (White Trinity Mark in the forest area of Wonderland) 4. Divine Rose (Talk to Belle in the Library) 5. Diamond Dust (Win the Gold Match special) 6. One-Winged Angel (Win the Platinum Match special) 7. It's funny how much differently the game plays on Beginner, Normal, and Proud. A lot of people actually consider Oblivion pretty low tier because if you're playing on Proud mode, you really have to prioritize MP over raw strength values. On Proud, people tend to favor Oathkeeper or Divine Rose because of that. I just finished a playthrough of KH1 myself on Proud and it's weird seeing you with so little MP. At this point in the game I had like 11MP.

Dan's playstyle seems to be that he dedicates himself almost solely to physical attacks, using MP only to cast Cure on himself, and sometimes to Donald or Goofy. (This seems to include his reluctance to cast summons.) At the beginning of the game, he passes on that wand, indicating he knew full well during then how he wanted to approach this. As a result, he only has as much MP as he needs in order to cast Cure enough times to survive. Each time he picks upa Keyblade, you can see him examine its stats, and he's much more likely to turn it down if it's MP-focused. Up to this point, the only time he has an MP-based Keyblade and actually uses it to cast a lot of spells (forget which one it was though) was for the Hercules Cup, in which he cast Thundara and Blizzara a lot to hit a lot of enemies at once. (Arguably, this may also be the case with his third attempt in the Riku boss battle at Hollow Bastion, as he cast Aero at the beginning of the battle and then used Ars Arcanum whenever he could.) That being said, that he switched to that indicates that he CAN use magic-related strategies but prefers not to unless his normal playstyle is not effective.

So I expect we'll be seeing the Hades Cup, but I am curious whether we'll see *all* of the optional bosses. There's the Ice Titan, Kurt Zisa, the Clocktower Phantom, Sephiroth, and then I think another optional boss that was added in a later version that should be in this game. I understand if you don't want to drag things out by doing *all* of them, but I feel that this game honestly has the best optional bosses.

Yes, Hollow Bastion has an optional boss that is stupid hard and a reference to KH2. And there's also Heartless bosses like the Chimaera in Halloween Town.

I never would have noticed this while playing, but from the comfort of a third person perspective I could see that those drop-in fighting arenas revealed the invisible walls! It's so easy to get turned around in fights that it's hard to keep track of these things, but those seemingly random background hallways matched up with the real walkable areas.

Off the top of my head here is what Dan has to do left for 100% -make all the synthesis items -all the optional bosses (Phantom, kurt Ziza, Unknown, Ice Titan, Sephiroth) -all weapons -retry all minigames (only like 6 or so of them) -log all the heartless (including the rare ones) -find all the puppies and trinity marks -all gummi missions -all weapons -get to level 100

100% in this game is technically based of the journal being 100%. As such Gummi Mission missions are technically not part of it (they simply need to be completed once which he might have done, I forget how the game logs "completed"), nor is getting to level 100. It is also why it is only puppies and not all chests, like it is in KH2, since Chests are not accounted for in the journal. Doing this though is a pain, not as bad on normal than proud (or lvl 1... don't do that) but still a pain. All weapons requires a solo and time trial run of Hades Cup and he still needs Donald's drop from Wizards. Synthesis, purchases and optional bosses cover the rest. Getting all Synthesis items on final mix requires doing their "special" heartless which you basically have to look up to know how to get the drops from them and are still cumbersome to execute. Unfortunately, being on Normal Difficulty, getting [Deep Dive] will require this. He can just do puppies if he wants Another Side, Another Story but this is story mode so I figure he will be going for Deep Dive, despite the hours to reward ratio being super imbalanced now that the rest of the games are out.

Dan is pretty close to getting all the keyblades, but if he wants *all* of them then he will have to make all the synthesis items for sure (Final Mix changed up the synthesis progression so you have to craft everything to unlock the final three weapons for Sora & Co.) The keyblades I think he's missing are: 1. Olympia (Hiding in the lobby of the Olympic Colosseum) 2. Lionheart (Bash in Leon + Cloud in Hades Cup) 3. Lady Luck (White Trinity Mark in the forest area of Wonderland) 4. Divine Rose (Talk to Belle in the Library) 5. Diamond Dust (Win the Gold Match special) 6. One-Winged Angel (Win the Platinum Match special) 7. Ultima Weapon (The one that needs all the crafting) And possibly Metal Chocobo but he surely must've found it already because he beat the Hercules cup.

So, landing in The End of the World is actually the trigger for something back in Hollow Bastion (the chapel, specifically) that is incredibly plot-important and all of the future games reference it. So. I know this is probably recorded in advance, but. This is story mode. On the one hand, you shouldn't have to play it with a guide to know what to do, that's bad game design. On the other hand, you need a guide, so suck it up please.
