Other comments have probably already mentioned this, but the unopenable door in Oogie's Manor was actually a Red Trinity spot in the original PS2 release, which when opened, revealed a chest. And while the chest would still be openable after defeating Oogie, the Red Trinity would no longer be obtainable, leaving your Journal incomplete. From the Final Mix version onward, the Red Trinity was then moved to the outside gate beside the manor, wherein it would always be available. The door thus is just a remnant of the original release.

I spent so long as a kid trying to find out where I missed a red trinity. So happy they changed this in final mix

I was thinking that the random chest in Oogie’s manor was a placeholder chest that could be moved to the secondary location if the player didn’t collect [the original chest] before. I could easily be wrong, but that’s my two cents.

Right, I remember it only worked at the end of the world destiny islands. It was when I first learned a bit about games to the extent that both sides of the island were never loaded in simultaneously. Originally I thought "of course the Cove doesn't show up here at the end of the world, we don't actually see it at all here so it wasn't brought in here" but then I realized that wasn't the reason. I wonder what the Cove would look like zoomed out if we could go out of bounds there. I also wonder if the Destiny Islands maps at the beginning and end of the game are the same one, or the second one is a whole different construction. Noatter how far I went, nothing would really go wrong with the out of bounds thing. I'll tell you this, though: go up high enough and run far enough away from the island, and Donald and Goofy's sprites would start to glitch out at the edges. The effect gets more severe the further you go.

One thing I love about older games is that unused parts and ramshackle stuff is like fossils into the old times of game design
@venabre Жыл бұрын
That unused chest inside Oogie Boogie's manor might be a remnant from the trinity mark that used to be inside there. Back in the original version there was a trinity mark inside the manor, however because the whole structure becomes inaccessible after you defeat Oogie Boogie it meant that that trinity mark was missable if you didn't backtrack to get it. For later releases they moved the trinity mark outside the manor, near the water. It is possible that the chest is the original one that would have been prompted by the trinity mark

Both Donald and Goofy's heads are fully modeled because during different attack animations their hats sort of fly/float off their head. I actually can't think of when goofy's hat flies off, but I'm confident donald's hat flies while casting thunder, though i'm not certain.
@Supersonicblue1027 Жыл бұрын
Goofy's hat will usually fly off if he does his rocket ability on a flying enemy that is very high, just like in KH2. His hat also bounce back from his knockback animation, which the animation dissappears when he becomes level 60, as by then, he is too strong to be knocked back anymore. Additional mention is when he does a jump attack, his hat moves ever so slightly. However, he's moving too fast for it to really be noticed.

About the two copies of Sora's room: the lighting and shadows were calculated separately for both copies, to take the window's position into account. Notice that the bright patch on the floor has a shadow running across it while the window is closed. Performance-wise, it would have been more efficient for Square to reuse the room, swap the textures, and reposition the window models on demand, but the PS2 could easily handle the scene either way, and simply cloning the whole room saved the artists/designers some work.

Thank you for making a KH out of bounds! There's a out of bounds glitch I still like to do in the PS2 versions on the last level on Destiny Islands. You jump in a certain spot on the shack to get on a invisible floating platform. From there, you can keep jumping up and can hop over the invisible wall to explore the sea or completely leave the skybox into the void of space. Sadly, this glitch has been patched out on the Final Mix versions.

"You can see that Mickey is wearing his classic outfit" Well, yeah, because the Heartless destroyed his black jacket a moment before that, duh! /s (I kind of love how stupid that is, that they just had that happen so that it didn't contradict the scene in KH1. Just like how they realized Lingering Will has a cape, but Terra's armor didn't in "Birth By Sleep", so the Final Mix version has it just... grow a cape out of nowhere after the final boss fight of Terra's story)
@leilaclarridge5807 Жыл бұрын
I found this out from KingdomHearts Master's video. If you were to somehow go down into the plaza of the Third District without triggering the cutscene in which SD&G meet for the first time, you can find Donald and Goofy's models down there, along with a second model for Sora and an animated but otherwise stationary Soldier Heartless. The model for Sora happens to be his cutscene model, the one with a more detailed face. This is likely to help save on time and resources when loading models in for cutscenes. You don't have to wait as long for the cutscene to load when the models are already there in the level.

When Kingdom Hearts 3 got on pc, i downloaded a free cam mod for it so I can look at cutscenes from any angle (even pause them and see secrets) and roam about areas to see what I couldnt before. Ive been doing that with any game that has a free cam mod. I like to see EVERYTHING

Kingdom Hearts is my childhood game. It's as if they created not just one but an entire universe of large, spectacular worlds to explore and venture throughout, all filled to the brim with great content - all on a PlayStation 2 disc. Playing this game for the first time blew me away with its spectacular story-driven characters, dialogue, and motives all to reach the end credits. There will never be another Kingdom Hearts for me. Traverse Town will always be my home away from home.

The keyhole is probably for the cutscene that plays at the end of the Alice in Wonderland world.

I dont see why you couldn't do a raw documentary style and still incorporate some fun. That being said I will be here for whatever you choose. It is no surprise to any of us that have been here for the ride to see you hit 1 mil. Congrats man. You definitely deserve it and worked your ass off for it.
