Seen you activated a special portal, and immediately thought you were going to die, that is hard as nails to do at low level. So let me break down the portals real fast. Friendship portals - Replaces your current spirits with ones fully charged. You do not need to use these portals for anything other than cuteness and free full link bars. Combat Portals - You should be able to do these whenever, but you only gain exp and materials from them. Special portals - Like the one you died from with today's episodes are required to be done to unlock a strong keyblade before you beat the game. You also get the best spirit materials from these portals. You have to hunt these portals down like a bounty hunter, when you press the drop button you see a menu showing you the next three days, and you see a couple blurred out spirits, these refer to the different special portals for each time you drop. You only get one special portal per world per drop, you have to drop a lot to get all the special portals. Good LUCK!

I think it's worth mentioning that if you don't do one of the special portals before you beat the game, it ends up being locked behind this game's superboss. Do the secret portals before the last boss!

Also, side note: can you imagine if Kingdom Hearts replaced the word "darkness" with the word "cuteness"? XD It'd be hilarious. "All worlds begin in cuteness. And all so end. For times when your spirits get stuck out of the fight (or when you want them to come to you so they drop aggro) there was a way on the 3ds version by pressing the shoulder buttons. I'm not sure they kept the same bindings, but there is definitely a way to teleport your spirits to you, just check the in game seetings.

I'm only familiar with The World Ends with You via the DS, so it sounds interesting to hear these characters say more than a few words at a time, and without the audio compression of the DS. It must have also beena pain to design the scenarios in this game having to take into account that Sora and Riku could potentially spontaneously fall asleep in even the most critical non-cutscene moments. Some of the stylus controls look like they might also be meant to be used in conjunction with the control stick, which might be problematic for lefties like myself.

Started playing DDD yesterday, and watched the video up to the point where I’m at in the game and I’m glad I did! 😄 got to learn which style of fighting is better for the two and about the boss fight tip. Although when I was playing riku I didn’t even know I was going to encounter a boss and dropped in the middle of the fight, so yeah I’m going to have a fun time when I come back I guess 🗿

The drop strategy I adopted is to use drop-me-not to run a character through a world, then drop. After the first couple worlds, that gave enough drop points to get all the relevant upgrades, starting with drop deceleration. I like the concept of playing both boys and dropping between them, but implementing it as something to be fought against doesn't feel good.

This is still only the first world (unless you count the Destiny Islands tutorial against Ursula) so there's plenty of time for more flashbacks and other cutscenes to be doled out. Out of game, I wonder how much is to do with them having Nintendo-compatible character models from Re:coded so using them as a base rather than starting over.

It is now my head canon that callow guru is actually a meow wow bouncing around giving you hints! If you choose to name something after me, you can use my screen name Ember if that fits better. (When I started watching on my phone it didn't link to my existing account properly.) But maybe name a spirit after Carrie first if she is not opposed!
