Seeing KH1 Riku and Mickey as ally reminds me of playing OG CoM (GBA version) years ago and it's ending kinda was giving some expectations of Riku/Mickey as separate mode in the future... Unfortunately it only happened years later in KH3 (with completely different and inferior version of Riku) outside of 358.2 multiplayer.

This is actually doable in kh3 already my friend! The Darkness Overload mod has a separate pak that sets Mickey as your ally throughout the game (gotta remove it at specific points like in arendelle's slide section otherwise game crashes, but that's about it) Also need to check with my friend if we can't expant his moveset a little bit, like adding back his missing kh2 moves

Well, now after how much series changed over the years it feels little different, although I definitely got way more enjoyment with portable KHs than main games. It's just that ironically only KH RE Coded made a reference to CoM's ending with it's Riku's (or was he a journal's avatar there or something? Crazy story, and they say FF7 R is bonkers lol) appearance, which was omitted completely for the player. Just as it happened with FF7 by now I cherish new characters we got over the years through compilations (Vanitas, Young Xehanort, Eraqus, Luxu, Riku replica after KH3 etc) or in case of 7 (Young Seph, Genesis, Angeal from EC, Lucia, Scarlet, Glenn, Felicia, Weiss, Nero etc) way more than OG cast which mostly taking back seat outside of the protag char. At least in Rebirth there's legally available option to remove main character (which ironically isn't the only playable dude there) from party in NG+ While games like main numbered KH, Crisis Core or FF16 are ones that only can be redeemed by this feature... Although I'm super stocked for a DLC akin to ReMind :-3

@nameless-channel technically, Cloud isn't even quite the main character in ff7 overall, he's absent for a good while too

True, but Cloud IS the one who player normally cannot remove from the team most of the time outside of certain story episodes and VR. But with Square officially admitting they cut out Tifa's story episode from 7R, I can't really be shocked they cut out Turk Scenario lol Although recently Hamaguchi mentioned they DO consider a DLC for Rebirth, so who knows... By now we just have way too many faces that lack both screen time and story relevance in both KH and FF7. It's like they making a character concept and put it into the game first, bother to actually elaborate on "What The Hell Is Even That" later someday. Cough Yozora cough.

@nameless-channel yeah it's a staple of sqex, not going far enough for a lot of characters, thank god we had crisis core and dirge of Cerberus at least
