I completely disagree with Anti-Form. It was a genius tool for balancing the power of Drive Forms, it stops you from just abusing a very powerful system. It isn't meant to be a good treat for using the same thing over and over, its a tool that forces you to be careful about when and where you Drive. Something I think the later games lack; for example in BBS you can just spam commands without any care or drawback.

I would be fine with it, if there was an ingame way to see how far ur drive chances of getting Anti are at that point if that makes sense? Because theirs been plenty of times where I get anti form at the worst time possible and its not like I abuse the drive forms whats so ever, the only time I use them is when I need to grind their levels.

I actually love anti-form. In fact there was once a time where I kept searching for a way to use it on-demand (unfortunately I don’t have the final mix version so I’m outta luck on that part :/) IMO, while the drawbacks are significant, the sheer *speed* of this form makes up for it. If you use it right, you are straight-up untouchable at times.

The majority of people dislike CoM because it's a change of gameplay, not because it's bad gameplay. ALL it takes to play this game properly, is just prepare accordingly.
@Taser90017 жыл бұрын
I despise the card system. It's not the strategy. It's not the decks you build by hand. It's the randomness. You can go through the game twice and it will be different both times. I like that in games most of the time. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is one of my all time favourites. In this though, it doesn't work, because unlike TBoI, for example, the end goals are always the same and you need the same strategies to beat the bosses, whereas synergies in TBoI allow you to mix it up fairly easily. However, in CoM, which room cards you get are random. There are times when either everything is low level or has no enemies, or everything is too strong, both making farming a pain. Then the farming for new attack and magic cards is a pain too, as you never know what you are going to get. I spent 3 days farming for Blizzard spells for Axel because I just never found them. "Oh, but you can buy packs from moogles!" Yeah, when you get room cards that let you go to the moogles. I love randomised games, but CoM is poorly implemented. Yeah, you can use synergies to make limit attacks, but as soon as a 0 comes in, whoops! Plus, using limits and stronger spells removes cards from your deck permanently, that not even reloading fixes. That means precious card slots then need to be taken by items that restore them, if you can even find those item cards to begin with. This makes the card system super limiting. Limiting the player isn't inherently a bad thing (again, TBoI does this quite well), but CoM's limitations are too much. In theory, CoM's mechanics are amazing. In practice, not so much, which is a shame, because I love the Org XIII story arc, which of course starts with CoM. The Absent Silhouette fights and data Org XIII fights are so much more enjoyable. Granted, with enough time put into the game, it can be easy. However, Kingdom Hearts is primarily for a younger audience, not people like me who are 24. Being a game revolving around Disney, a lot of young children play these games. I guarantee that CoM will be the hardest one for so many of them, not because it's got inherently difficult bosses, but because the bosses are made difficult by the limitations of the card system. If you don't have experience with card games and aren't a great strategist, this game is horrid to play. Tl;dr - It's very understandable why people dislike this system, either for the forced farming from the randomness, or because the learning curve can be a problem. It's not inherently bad, but it is poorly implemented. If you like it though, that's cool too.

+Darkkefka I actually didn't really mind the finisher mechanic, if I was feeling particularly pissed or sadistic I could use that to continuously torment whichever boss was in front of me, plus it made the slowmotion battle endings a bit more satisfying when you end with combos like Aerial Finish, Guard Breaker or Zantetsuken. Sides if that was ever a major problem, just cast a magic spell like Thunder once to bypass the finisher mechanic (Magic is a beautiful thing, especially with KH2's auto replenishing MP bar) In terms of Anti-Form, I kinda see why people get upset about it, but if people took the time to learn how to control it (basically the one reason I ever used Two Become One seriously) since apparently everyone just throws themselves without any thought process into enemies' faces in the form, it can be pretty powerful (only on bosses where Reaction Commands aren't necessary to move to the next phase, damn Saix...) And yea, 0 cards are annoying... except when breaking out of Reaper Marluxia's Doom.

@@JOC9271 The finish mechanic was meant for theatricality. Always defeating an enemy with the final hit so the finishing blow FEELS like the finishing blow, but to get around this, use magic. Problem solved. Also, when an enemy had no health left in that game if they were to, while at no health, find themselves in a combo, chances are theyre not getting out UNTIL you hit the ppint they fall out automatically, which tends to be data org fights, or they wont because you just started the combo. Horizontal slash also acts as a combo ender even if you can continue hitting afterward in a combo just like magic. But itll STILL kill them because its not the set attack string, your ability is an ADDITION, when it requires you to press Square. This is why 1 square with valor can end an enemy even with the mechanic in place. I hated it for bosses like Roxas, but again, data org, or end game.
@gengashaunt33223 жыл бұрын
@@zestyion8791 How? Valor form can rush through big enemies with aerial square charge, then only way anti form could possibly be better ( imo ) is because it attacks faster so chances to clash against an attack and cancel it go up, but its also hard to STOP combos as antiform, the animations for many attacks take too long, so you get hit even MORE than valor, whereas valor cant block. Technically, neither can anti. Im curious why you find it better

I only hate that i cant exit it. Im totally fine with the punishment of using forms over and over but to have a system where im SUPPOSED to level it with use to make my base sora better, to make the process longer with a system that ONLY matters if youre not trying to pevel them, it forces you to basically make certain that you stay in the form as long as possible so you dont need to do it again and make it more likely you go antiform in a boss battle. Once youre beyond that and youve fully leveled each form its nowhere near as big an issue because the only real test at that point if not in critical mode is the data org, and Lingering Will, and with Lingering Will, im horrible at specifically fighting him, ive beaten all the data org. That being said, if i go anti form, i feel like i should be able to revert at the cost of all my drive, form no matter how much i have to begin with. But in anti form i cant heal, the stagger enemies face, especially bosses, is fleeting as anti form often flies around uncontrollably dropping enemies so im left swinging at the air. I also hate the square dash It closes distance but the animation for it stopping so you can follow up is too slow and i get punished. Id just appreciate if i wasnt forced to run around for 9 bars of antiform because luck and not attack which shortens the form duration when im just gonna get hit anyway. Its irritating that i cant exit a fight, i have to finish ( bosses or gated fights Its only a sensical punishment DURING the story. Beyond that it only wastes times, and since most things dont have "retry" you either spend resources to get the drive back, or use drive converter and oblivion to speedily get it back via combat. I shouldnt have to do that, its too many inconveniences for something that COULD be decent beyond attacking at the speed of hummingbird wings.

@@Taser9001 Which is the way i get my forms to max level. For Master form, Have sora use the alladin keyblade, have master hold the winnie the pooh keyblade, and then use magnega and thundaga outside of the room with the rose. You will get FAR more drive orbs, and every enemy dropped them to begin with this is by far the fastest way ive seen. This in turn, using the winnie the pooh keyblade is also the fastest place i found to level Wisdom form. Magnega and Thundaga. The keyblade will land you a ton of orbs and keep you in wisdom longer while you fight enemies that frop them to begin with. Because of that, Valor form is really good the winnie the pooh keyblade because it adds no strength, which means you land more hits before enemies crumble to it. So again, go to the same place but with valor form and get tons of drive orbs to stay in it longer. ONLY problem are the big red rhapsodys. Kill them with square. or youll get annoyed because you cant guard and keep getting hit. 1 thing to note is if you go to this place, and travel the level to find enemies, use fire whenever the statues and lance heartless are around, or youll waste mp on thundaga, which doesnt work. If i recall, fire still works on the statues. Final form is well known at this point to be best leveled at TWTNW. Gull Wing since you have the best defenses to keep yourself alive during this time experience boost along with it. Donald and goofy wont be there ( but i also remove donalds cure so he cant heal anyone ) And since nobodies drop magic, doing a run from the top of the castle down to the room you fight xigbar and back using magnega and thundaga ( and reflect or fire for the sorcerors ) Youll get absolutely dumb experience very very quickly and youll level final form faster too since you yourself will be getting stronger faster, so you kill shit faster. Much faster lmao.

Anti-form was put there so people don't abuse forms in the early stages of the game. Without the occasional Anti-Form transformation, the game would be too easy. And if you keep track of the invisible counter for it, you can avoid it all together, provided you don't abuse drive forms. Also, using it against Organization members, dramatically increases your chances of going Anti. I would never use it against Demyx unless I knew the counter was at 0.
@JOC92718 жыл бұрын
i know all about antiform. I know that it was placed there to avoid spamming drive forms. i just didnt think that it was necessary in kh2 because we were already limited on using drive forms anyway. the drive regeneration was super slow, drive recoveries only healed one gauge, high drive recoveries were hard to get and we only had 7 drive bars. I am aware that there is the world map trick but even with that it was still limited. Based off of these limitations i found putting anti-form in there unnecessary because we cant spam drive forms as often as people claim. In KH2.5 however that is an entirely different story. The drive bar recovers 20 times faster, drive recoveries heal 3 bars, drive recoveries arent hard to get whatsoever, and we can have up to 9 gauges. Considering these facts then it would make sense to put antiform in because it is 10 times easier to spam drives in KH2.5 than it is in kh2

I think your complaints about number 6 are unfair. I understand why you find it annoying, but I think you would enjoy the game more if you knew the following: There is actually a logical reason for requiring the use of a finisher for killing a boss -- if a poorly explained one. It is to encourage using the other tools at your disposal (e.g. Magic/Limits/Summons/Drives). 1. Literally all magic counts as a finisher for the purpose of killing bosses. Literally every hit of every Limit counts as a finisher. The transformation into a Drive form also counts as a finisher. You're clearly playing 2FM, since Sora has a crown in that segment of the video, meaning you have access to Limit Form. It seems to me you didn't do much experimentation with the game's mechanics, and mostly subscribed to the philosophy of "Press X to Win." While there's nothing wrong with that, it necessarily leaves out a *lot* of the game's combat system. 2. You're not really supposed to equip all of your Combo Plus abilities *all the time* -- the length of your combo tells me you have both equipped. There is a concept in KH2 called "Revenge Value," and it makes bosses break out of combos after a certain number of hits (specific to the boss) so they don't just get flinched to death. Not all abilities are good all the time. Most of them are good at least some of the time, though, except for Dodge Slash. Typically you want to get to your finishers faster anyways, because they're often more damaging alone than the entirety of your combo hits. 3. Upper Slash can be the second hit in your combo, so even if you have some kind of vendetta against magic...a 2-hit combo isn't exactly hard to pull off in most scenarios. And one other question: Why Ultima Weapon? Despite its name and stats, it's far from the best Keyblade, and you typically don't get it until after you've already received every other Keyblade in the game. It's been more than a year since you made this video, so you may already know most of this by know. If so, my apologies for telling you things you already know.

I actually have literally no problem with KH2's finisher requirement, except that it isn't explained to the player. It RARELY makes a difference from my experience, since you almost always can get to a finisher within a very small number of hits, if not with a single thunder cast. The benefits of it are that you usually get a satisfying ending blow to the boss fight and not some cheap hit, which I think adds to the game feel; the other benefit is that you can't just mash once the enemy's HP is low; you have to actually get a real opening, which incentivizes learning the fight. The only situation that this becomes a problem really is if you have berserk charge equipped. If you understand the finisher mechanic, however, you can realize pretty quickly that berserk charge is just a situational ability and you should have it turned off most of the time. Antiform is legit though. Why are we punishing the player for doing the most fun thing in the game again?

Strategic card systems do not belong in action games. i might have actually finished Re: CoM if they gave me the option to play it like a normal KH game. i don't mind the randomized card room thing, but keep it out of my combat thanks. of all the games to turn into cinematic theater modes in the HD remakes, why couldn't CoM been one of them? at least the panel system was just organizational behind the scenes management that you only dealt with between missions. as long as i can mash buttons and flail at shadows, im fine. i've played through most of the series (never beat CoM, never touched Coded) and i hate feeling locked out of an important part of the story due to a combat system i can never master no matter how hard i try, like my brain physically can't handle the multitasking strategy required to pay attention to and set up cards while still running around as though it's traditional active combat.
@gengashaunt33223 жыл бұрын
Im gonna say this and hopefully it makes sense. Consider the console it was on to begin with. GBA. Does this have ANYTHING to do with the Ps2 and ps4 version? Everything actually. Heres what i mean. In the GBA game, its gba. a downgrade in every regard to the ps2 kh games, 1 and 2. So people would more than likely just play the ps2 games over a gba game that plays the same but is just lower quality everything, theres not much there to make it stick out. Then consider BECAUSE of the console, it cant do all the flashy combos we end up doing in Kh1 and 2, which means you are asking to play like the original game....with even more limitations than the card system. This also removes the need for a difficulty setting. The game is as hard as you make it through your lack or abundance of understanding. to play like the original, youd want something more than a 3 hit combo. Well the game cant do that, so it gives you the option to use things like lethal frame. The game HAD to replace the original combat system because it would be lacking so heavily in what had a lot of people LIKING the combat system. So we HAVE to tone down combat. Thats done. Now we have to find a way to make you play, still have magic, and still have summons. THEN the option to use enemy cards. So they gave you cards. As long as you know how to play, you can use pretty much everything it was that you had in the original game....except the flash. Which as already stated, simply isnt possible on this game. Note i am referring currently to the gba version. Since we have less flash, but still have summons, still have magic, still have attacking with the keyblade. What COULD we change to make the game better without making it like the original game? 1. Leave magic, summons and sleights specifically related to cards. This means my attack button does attack but it doesnt take cards, its the badic attack. If i do this, i have to change magic to work with the limitation you now have. What can we do? Make magic stronger, and thus make IT a bit flashier, because the flashiness lasts only a moment because its magic, not a possibly 20 hit combo like in kh1 or 2. The same for summoms, make them stronger, but require cards. These would follow the same rules they already do, sleights eat a card, and since its all magic it does this too, its strong, but limited so it cant be abused beyond reason. Now that the combat system works a bit better for sora, what about riku? Riku has attacks that are faster and stronger than sora, and has no magic abilities whatsoever except perhaps cure and thats it, while most of the magic is replaced with the enemy cards like jafar. When you go dark mode, you lose access to the enemy cards AND healing, and gain dark firaga, which you can use maybe 3 times before its gone for that dark mode use. This makes it so the payout for GETTING dark mode WITHOUT magic is having Enemy cards that assist without dealing samage itself, and the magic you get in dark form is more limited, but stronger due to this. This balances the both of them. Now what else can we do? Because my weapon is no longer card based, let me find keyblades that lend to magic and do little damage physically attacking, or the opposite, put them behind a premium card door, and ensure that you get the premium card after you beat the boss, or make the premium card drop a little more often. This is done because the levels can be blown through very fast if you farm cards( for the doors ) so you dont make one keyblade for magic obsolete because in 20 minutes you got a new one. Next option? Make cards for physical builds, ie, have enemy cards that do kind of what some of them already do. They can assist your magic, or they can assist your physical ability without having the need for combos. UNLOCK combo strings WITH new keyblades that change your attack pattern based on what its used for. Magic keyblades attack 2 times instead of 3 but knock enemies off you fast SO you can use magic like its intended for, or a phys based one that gives you a stronger finishing hit, or add another hit to the combo string. These are things that are within reason to be implemented inti the gba version, and if it was done this way, you could still have a card system while still having cards not dictate how many times you strike with the keyblade, and still be within the scope of keeping the game consistent across ports. This way, on recom, you can still attack JUST like in kh1, with phys strikes and magic having different systems to optimize how you use both. Kh recom has some busted shit that beats the game for you because the cards allow it with grinding the right cards. This would remove that broken issue and further balance it. As long as the perks for each category of damage dealing was balanced, a port of this kind of game would still feel like a kh1, along with its graphics, but play differently enough to not just be able to pop in kh1if you want to play a similar game. Something has to change for chain, a lesser game due to what it was made on, for it to come close to kh1, which also had its own problems.

I really think DDD should have separate modes for Sora and Riku, with an unlock final episode when you clear both. If it can be done for Birth by Sleep, it can be done for Dream Drop Distance. I'm glad I knew about it long before I started playing the game, so I trained myself to always drop and drop back before a boss, which completely negated that Drop System issue.

While I agree with most of these points being mildly annoying to infuriating I would actually put "The Command Deck" above all of them. Ever since I first played BBS I have never liked that system and found it even less enjoyable than CoM card system, I hated the fact that DDD basically used the same system and greatly feared that with how much the rest of the fandom seemed to adore it that KH3 would use it as well. I am so relieved that KH3 will be going back to the standard style as I would hate yet another game forcing the crappy command deck on us.
@Pooky19915 жыл бұрын
Yeah. While i like BBS, its probably my second favorite in the series, that command deck system is ass. To avoid frustration you pretty much have to cheat to make the most out of it or spend hour geinding to level up commands, go into melding, and hope you're not wasting materials on unlocking an ability you already have. The system is easily broken too

#6 In case no one has answered about that yet, Mickey does not have the ability to do a critical finisher. This keeps him from finishing a boss while you are technically dead. So the reason is mostly due to Mickey who was a great help in some boss battles early on in Critical.
@canalxpcial51082 жыл бұрын
Funny fact: Using cheat to make use of Mickey, and trying to beat any of Twilight Town bosses (struggle fights or not), the boss will be beat, but the battle did not over, they continue fighting with 0 HP (like Vivi on the story battle), also, Mickey don't lose HP if that happens too.

I actually really enjoyed getting to use anti-form though I do think we should have gotten a gage at least in the menu screen to tell us how close we were to transforming into anti. It was to be a way to punish you for abusing drive forms. Lore wise I think it’s because when sora uses the drive forms he is opening up his heart to the light in order to gain some power from it. However, in doing so the darkness tries to get in as well, and the more he uses them the more chances the darkness has to enter and him turning into anti-form is the darkness entering his heart instead of the light that’s why he takes on the appearance of a heartless is surrounded by darkness and looses the key blade in that form. It does give him a lot of speed and power though because the darkness is a power force but the cost is far greater than what it’s worth.

I know what you mean with dream drop distance and the drop counter. I remember fighting the crab boss in pinocchio only to drop and start over. The thing I truly hated about chain of memories is riku's story especially alice in wonderland. Why was his deck so horrible? I ran from normal enemies in that world because the deck was unplayable. Another problem with that game was that if you weren't careful, you can sleight most of your deck into 3-4 cards. I remember one boss, I had to fight with 3-5 cards in the deck because I wasted them in sleights. Luckily the boss was very weak.

for number 10 use any of the surges. you're invincible and hence why it's broken for number 6. or if you prefer use an aerial combo and hit square to use horizontal slash. another option is to use combo master, or magnet to gain access to immediate combo finisher. and no it's not bs it's flashier, higher stakes, encourages experimenting with how many combo pluses you have, demands greater skill level. for number 3, you can ensure you won't go antiform if you use final form enough. and even though antisora is the worst form, it served its purpose for drawing parallels to when sora turned into a heartless, as well as catching the player off guard with a surprise. 1 the card system was fun and challenging. even when i got poor drops it was still beatable if you know how the bosses work. And having to think about your cards before you mash the x button was a nice change of pace.
@dmas77498 жыл бұрын
It's still horribly luck-based as a whole. Whether or not bosses attack you or not with their stronger attacks is completely random. Whether Heartless or bosses break your attacks is completely random. Older games would foreshadow bosses signature attacks with well-placed cues rather than just have them completely interrupt what you were doing and cause you DEATH.
@Teddy-od7lp5 жыл бұрын
They're not random. They have revenge values and you can tell that an enemy would retaliate when you've been attacking too much. You need trial and error to figure out a boss, death isn't such a bad thing because you get to learn about the boss if you've been paying enough attention.

It was like they couldn't come up with any better ideas so they gave something bare and dry. It impacted the game more than any other bad mechanic since it was the system the game was designed around.

I think the battle system in KHUx is worse than the card system. You can't heal yourself in battle. Your keyblade will take a certain number of medals. You can't attack whenever you want. #10 I agree, mostly the Tank Topplers can interrupt your attempts at using Magnet or Freeze Raid using very fast attacks, same for the Mandrakes and the Vile Phials (the bottles). #9 The panel system can be entertaining because it works like puzzle systems. But the magic is the worst thing of this game, because the only way to restore them is to use Ethers, no "hit the enemies" or "wait for reload", and there's no Auto-Recharge in this game to restock items ! #8 I agree, but you can dodge the enemies or kill them all before hitting bushes etc. ...if the games lets you lock-on the enemies so that you hit them and not the pole right next to you ! Oh yeah, vanishing EXP too. #7 The pain when you're doing a Lv.1 run dude, indeed. Or when you accidentally fall off when trying to fight just so you can open a chest. #6 Swag, that's why, and that's the very reason why I disabled Berserk Charge. Upper Slash makes me use it instead of Dodge Roll. #5 More appropriate name : Turning into Dark Mode instead of using that card. Actually, to turn into Dark Mode you need to use any card, the card that makes you get to 30 pts, or when you're already at 30pts. They should've applied that only to Soul Eater cards, not when you use a Mickey card or sleight... #4 Why would you roll into a wall if you just wanna roll ! And a proof that SE is generous : the flowmotion is disabled on the walls in Ansem II fight in his DM just so you can use Dark Roll next to the wall without activating Flowmotion. ...or use Dark Splicer in yolo mode. And why would you roll into a wall while fighting Julius ? #3 No, that's not the true reason I hate Anti Form. I hate this because it makes me miss an opportunity to level up my forms, because I hate how this game makes you level up forms just so you can Quick Run or High Jump ! Especially Quick Run because you get it relatively lately in the game. Actually you can Revert, but only out of a battle. Oh yeah, NOICE idea using Wisdom Form with the Two Become One Keyblade. NOICE ! #2 Drop-me-nots ? Only take one slot in the command deck. Drop Decelerator ? Yeah, useful. Risky Winds or forecasts that speed up your Drop Gauge ? Avoid them. Wanna be safe from dropping as Riku ? Beat Xemnas as Sora. There you go, the Drop mechanic isn't a problem anymore. Yay ! 18:39 Noice glitch ! #1 Git gud, that's all I have to say, git gud. This game on Proud is easier than KHFM Proud. No Lethal Frames, no intentional Sonic Blades. All you have to do is git gud. Organizing the decks is easy. Need to add some cards ? Level Up and increase CP. I gotta admit the abilities are pretty absent in this game though. Especially those that only last one reload... And I agree, I hate the whole RNG vomit. I like this game because it's different and this is my first KH game, and I liked looking at the PS2 remake. The enemies can cardbreak you ? You can do the same ! You can sweep the enemies with powerful sleights and they still don't interrupt you since most of the them in grouped battles don't have 0 cards. There's another thing I hate : the fact triangle doesn't do a thing when you have one or two cards stocked while you're on the Reload Card. Instead, you have to press L1-R1 to use your one or two stocked cards. In the GBA at least you use L-R in all cases, 1, 2 or 3 stocked cards, and you don't have to change your button habits. In the remake, if you carbreak while getting hit, you still take the damage. My dishonorable mentions ? The Potions in KH1, CoM and 2. You have to wait until the glowing thing that goes out of your pocket to land on your head for the Potion to take effect, and if you're at 1HP or fighting Data-Axel, then you're dead if you get hit while using the Potion ! No Item Bracer that prevent you from getting hit, only a needless Leaf Bracer since all of you guys who did Lv.1 challenges won't claim otherwise about the usefulness of this ability. In BBS and 3D, the Potion takes effect as soon as you put it out of the pocket, and as you need them in that Vanitas Remnants fight, then you'd understand why their mechanics are better. And in 3D, the game is doable with Potions. At least Leaf Bracer is useful in this game since it nullifies the problem with Cures that take 2 seconds and not instantly to heal you. In Re:CoM and KH2FM you flinch for too long, just so that Xigbar can combo-shot you easily, but in Braig's case in BBS you can Block when he combo-shoots you. Even in the GBA CoM you don't flinch as long as in the remake, so you can cardbreak out of Dark Aura after taking a hit. But in the remake if you take one hit from that, you're forced to take the entire teleport combo before having a chance to use your 0 cards just before he uses the finisher. All of that if you're late at looking for your 0 cards in R/R.

It also has other issues like because it graphically resembles kh1, a game with MUCH more going on ( backgrounds, distant areas you cant access, flashier attacks, ever present partners ) while when you compare that gameplay to Recom, you have 3 hit combo strings, 5 at max i think, but thats using jump, and you cant plow through enemies nearly as fast, you can swing through enemies outside of battle often, and not stun them for the battle, multiple enemies breaking your cards slows the game down and that, mixed with meh platforming in worlds with no npc, you walk around alone, and theres not a ton of music that we dont know, its not as good as the music in ANY of the other games, etc. The port kind of FORCES comparisons to kh1 by matching it graphically but being played slower, not getting abilities but like...building them?
