i never beat him, i beat the other secret boss in agrobah, this is also the old ps2 version so i don't know if that hooded figure showed up in that version, also doesn't help i didn't know you could fully stop the countdown

No he did showed up, I have a PS2 version too and I tried to fight them both (Spoiler : I lost XD), they are both in the game - but not in the original Japanese version though

Very late response but I describe this fight more like multitasking: watch out for the Phantoms attack, watch out for the clock and cast Stop, cycle through the Magic command to attack Phantom, and do it all constantly and as quick as possible.

I caught him at level 93 with all Elixir's, and prior knowledge of how he works, including Stop on the Doom Counter. I actually 100℅ the game in like a weak, that to hyper fixation. Then I accidentally deleted it on a new game. So I did it again, even easier. Since I study bosses before hand, I've never actually lost to a boss more than 10 times, not even Sephiroth, of Unknown. The second go through was even easier, and I beat all the bosses in half the attempts than before. I even best Sephiroth in one try this time. I don't know if that's impressive, but I'm definitely proud. Also, what I mean by 100℅ is getting golden mickeys in the journal. I did it for KH2 as well, all Golden Mickeys. It was harder than I thought. Did both on the hardest difficulty to.

I actually thought casting stop on the clock was fairly obvious. It's a clock, you have a spell that stops time on things, seemed fair enough to me.

Idk if you’ve played 358/2 Days yet, but having played it myself, the fight is definitely hell. Both Leechgrave and Ruler of the Sky definitely test my love for this game lol.

I have the guidebook to Kingdom Hearts II. Enemies and their attacks are given elemental attributes such as fire, ice and lightning. There's even a non-elemental attribute. But there is not a water attribute. So SE just stuck Demyx with the next-best thing: Ice! And that's why fire is super effective against him. Great list so far, I'm amazed it took me this long to notice it. And I have to say, I love the humour of your videos, especially the editing side of it. It's just hilarious. Oh, and massive props for putting Ursula in this list. (Assumedly like you) I've been playing the HD collection and my goodness I hate her. I hate that boss with all my soul. She was the only one out of everyone in this video that I struggled with in the same way you did (with possible exception of Leechgrave (It's beeen a while since I played Days)), but I see where you're coming from with every entry. Good show!

The reason why Demyx is weak to fire attacks despite being a water based boss is that Water is not it's own element in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, but rather another variation of Ice. Basically in Kingdom Heart water is ice with a new paint job. Same weakness, but different effects.

Umm... I believe Kingdom hearts genre is action rpg. Hack and slash is incorrect. It doesn't play like ninja gaiden or dynasty warriors. It's totally different from those.

***** Because by genre definition it is action rpg. It has the simplified rpg elements, the JRPG story progression and style. Action RPGs tend to have more simplistic combat mechanics anyway, because the focus tends to be more in the story.

First of all, I'm happy to see that you haven't disintegrated. I didn't expect this countdown. When you had mentioned Hasbro problems, I thought: "MLP...?" I finished watching both parts. And now: Part 1 of my Comment Response! (I don't know if you get bothered by these types of comments. I hope not.) Number X (I see what you've done here): I found this boss just as troublesome on the GBA version. The swaying environment could get very disorienting. Plus, you don't have a lot of room to avoid the oncoming attacks. As it stands, I'm not sure which version of the battle was more of a pain to deal with. Pick your poison. Number IX: I don't think anybody liked anything that had to do with this place in any Kingdom Hearts game whatsoever. That's just from my perspective, though. It was definitely the physics. Yup. It was the most infuriating part of the battle for me. (P.S. Where was the "Decker Count" on that one? He technically interfered!) Number VIII: Oh my God, yeah! Thank you for putting that bastard on your list! I hated this boss with a burning, fiery passion (no pun intended). Oddly enough, it wasn't the fact that he had a lot of health or small hit-boxes that bothered me. It was the fact that this battle was simply boring. Not fun at all. I'll admit that I was under-leveled but, regardless of my setbacks, this was not a good experience. Number VII: Mmm...I don't know. It's true that this boss was annoying with both its agility and time limit. However, putting a stop to the clock does sound reasonable and not all that difficult to process. I managed to figure it out, but maybe that had to do with a lucky guess. I wasn't really guaranteed that my method would work. With all that is said and done, having to look back-and-forth at the clock to make certain that your spell did not wear off reminds me of sitting inside of a classroom. Guess how that made me feel. Exhausted. Time limits are just the worst. (*sigh*) Number VI: He was annoying back then. He got even more annoying later on. That is all that needs to be said. Ah, Kingdom Hearts. Even if you don't like the story, you can like the gameplay and hate the bosses. Now, let's see... Captain Hook: This guy was a pain, both on the GBA and on the PS2. He moves so fast, the barrels are hard to dodge (especially on the GBA, since the battlefields were so small) KH1 Ursula: Oh, heaven above, her... Well, at least they sort of learned from this and left Atlantica swimming combat out of future games. Still, though, Ursula... she and Chernabog (Fantasia devil in the End of the World) gave me the most trouble from that game. I dreaded doing them again in 1.5... Leechgrave: Maybe it's because I tend to like being a magic user, but... I found this one more mildly annoying. And yeah, 358/2 did not have a well thought out combat system (and that'll come back) Phantom: I forgot how I figured out you could stop the clock, but it does help that the game has plenty of magic-related puzzles, so you can figure it out eventually. My issue with the Phantom was how frequently his weakness changes, and how much magic is needed. Demyx/Data Demyx: No... the memories, they are returning... UARGH!! I mean, I don't hate him nearly as much as other people do - I actually kind of like how tough he proves to be after being such a wimp before - but yeah, he is annoying. I guess what I don't like about him is that the time limit attack ends the fight for no given reason (if they gave one, I might be slightly more tolerant of it, or maybe they reduced it to "get below X number of water clones before time runs out and you are overrun!"). And the Data version... doesn't even let you use that Wild Dance reaction as easily (you have to cast Blizzaga on the clones to shift them to note form, wasting magic you could use to just kill them with Firaga), so you have to figure out that you need Wisdom Form Firaga to win. Not the most difficult Data battle for me (that would be Axel), but this was still a major pain...

It was pretty obvious for me, too. When I saw the clock moving forward, and the counter on Peter's head decreasing, I figured I'd have to use Stop on it. Then it was pretty easy, figuring out which spell to cast was easy just by seeing the color of the ball below him. I did, however, lose Peter in the fight. I feel like a nub.

I actually didn't find Ursula that hard. You can Dolphin Kick then Cure while behind her or as far away from her, and just pray she decides to be distracted by your party members

I agree, but it took me about 10 tries to find this out. I also got lucky because I glitched into her neck so she couldn't turn around while I attacked, the thunder beams were still a pain in the ass though

I feel i've been lucky with the boss fights on KH 1. I beat Clayton the first try, I beat Ursula on the third, but then there are bosses like Chernabog and Riku that just made me rage out!

Why are you using the 13th Struggle as background for the Demyx-Fight? As far as I remember, you fight him while the 13th Dilemma is playing. Or did that change in Final Mix? (would be said, I prefer dilemma over struggle)

What the hell are you talking about? It immediately occurred to me to cast stop on the clock hands as soon as I figured out I could target them and had a vague idea that something bad would happen if the clock kept going (mind you this was on my first playthrough. I did however die from Donald always casting the wrong spells which apparently made the phantom stronger. I had to learn to not take Donald into battle... and learn that stop wears off after a while and I have to recast it, but otherwise had no more problems beating him than any other boss). You seriously needed to get a guidebook to figure that out? I am disappoint.

The boss still has other problems. You can only do so much damage until his weakpoint isn't exposed anymore, you constantly have to use magic to defeat him, you constantly have to use magic on the clock, and you can't get your magic back when attacking the clock, so you need to buy a shitload of ethers, which only give you 3 Magic and will eventually run out. And, as josh already said: "The battle has to be a test of skill, not a test of patience!"

soschar2050 Again, did not have serious trouble. I managed to get through it without depleting my magic too much. The fight with Kurt Ziza was the REAL fight tough on magic. I mostly meleed. But then again, I might have been overleveled. I hate grinding and never intend to do it, but it happened unintentionally because of how the mechanic works.

soschar2050 the boss has no problems, it's an extra boss which gives you the ability to prepare as much as you want for it, just load up on mp items, keyblade, get some ethers and put on a few exilers and you're good. You cast stop on the clock once about every 12 hits you get on him? It's all about knowing how to conserve your mp

I completely agree on the clock part. I was in... sixth grade I think when I first played the game, and it almost immediately occurred to me to used stop on a clock. I mean, it's a clock, and you have a spell that stops time. The only real trouble I had is that it took me a while to realize how to hit him sometimes. I just thought it was a 'keep hitting it until it dies' kind of thing.

I can actually explain the water thing. Water magic is classified as ice magic in KH2 because of self-evident reasons.

Once again I am reminded that I'm one of the few people who enjoys the Leechgrave battle. It's probably the fact that it takes place on one of my favorite worlds, and that I have a good strategy for the Tentaclaws. Wait until they go into the passive "teeth snapping" animation that signals they'll swallow you, block the ensuing attack, use Fire while it's stunned, and profit. They take more damage after being stunned in that way, so a mid-high level Fire spell can take them out in that moment. I do agree it can be tedious, though. Also, looking forward to part 2!

Ansem/Riku if you ask me is a testiment to a boss done right in a hack and slash game. like you said. he's infamous more for not being able to skip the looooong ass cutscene more then cheap gimicks or tactics.

The old intro was a mixture of clips which were whizzing by quickly but seemed longer (for some reason don't ask me why) - The other intro felt shorter, I can't really explain it it's complicated. Ursela was solved for me by literally swimming in a circle and letting donald and goofy slowly widdle her down. I got me bag of cheetos, some pop, popcorn, and a hell of a lot of patience.

I agree with you there. If I were in a time-based battle like that, the first thought that would cross my mind would be "ok, is there a way I can stop time, however temporarily?" Then try to figure it out from there.

I find it funny that you found Ursula to be a frustrating boss fight. I literally just beat her yesterday on my try on proud mode. I chose the dream sword at the beginning of the game, and had absolutely no problem.

no indication? you see a clock. clock = time. you have stop. stop stops time. stop the clock = stop time. also, by this point, you KNOW you can lock on to the clock, as you had to strike it with your keyblade to beat the level and seal the keyhole. but i guess its all how one looks at it. the point is, we all know *now* and thats all that counts here.

Why can you jump 10 feet into the air, and then fall without fracturing your ankles? Why can you slash at a person with a sword repeatedly and have them walk away like it's nothing? Why is destiny islands visible from the town, but the view from destiny islands is just endless expanse of ocean? Why is Captain Hook's ship flying through space one moment, then floating on a vast ocean the next moment? With all these things going on, you tend to just go with it and not wonder to yourself things like "Wouldn't a stop spell stop the clock on the tower?"

LR FFXIII only sold 4000 copies on xbox compared to the 200,000+ on PS3 in the first week in Japan. Also PS3 is alot cheaper now compared to 3 years ago so its worth the investment now.

I gotta' be honest. I have a very divided love-hate relationship with the KH games. 1 had inventive ideas, nice balance, but the writing and controls were sloppy. 2 had better controls, and I don't dislike the Roxas segment as much as most people, but the writing is still there. CoM? I can't even figure out the card system. Like, 0s can be broken by anything, but also sometimes can break other combos and fuck me is it difficult to manage to watch your deck while running around dodging 6 gargoyles. It just doesn't seem like a system compatible with hack-and-slash gameplay. 385/2 had vital enemies that sometimes just don't spawn, the hard-to-notice-or-predict status effects, the hidden side objectives where you can search every square millimeter of a level and still not find shit, and that one mission where it's literally almost impossible to reach one of the emblems, and even harder to do it in time to get full credit, but hey at least they gave you plenty of supplies Plus the inconsistent, intentionally vague, plan-as-you-go story But like when I'm not mad, they can be very relaxing, and even some of the parts that piss me off can feel very rewarding, in a "fuck you" kind of way. The point is, I really like to see people rip on Kingdom Hearts

Phillip Hemphill A valid opinion, I personally prefer the combat system in Birth By Sleep because it streamlines the spellcasting and makes it possible for you to set up pre made combos easily, it also had the shotlock abilities and the on the fly element transformation, which I felt worked much better than the drive forms in 2, which while good, felt too limited to be used often. I found myself saving my drive forms for moments where i would need them most, then end up not using them enough throughout the playthrough.

It's an easy strategy to figure out, the only thing is pulling it off The aerial controls were the most annoying thing about the battle as sometimes you would flly towards the clock, and you wouldn't be able to use the spell not to mention you barely do any damage on him.

MrWildcard531 Welp, I've beaten all the Data Bosses now, so here are some of the things that I learned: (Do note that I wrote this when I had beaten all of the bosses, but hadn't neccessarily gotten good at fighting them all. There are better strategies than the ones I've listed here.) Xemnas This is a pretty fun fight, because it doesn't have any bs in it. All you have to keep in mind is that you have to block way earlier than in the original fight, and that you shouldn't just spam block during his DM attack because he constantly moves around you. Final Xemnas The reaction commands are somewhat bugged in the 2.5 Remix version of this fight, so when he throws you into the air, it's best to cast reflega between his attacks just in case. Xigbar Just don't do a finisher on him during his final phase, and you will have much less problems. Glide in a circle when he does the last attack of his DM. Xaldin It's best to just gather those Jump commands, because his revenge value is quite risky to deal with. Best way to deal with his final phase is to stun him out of his Aero spell and hope he starts doing his skyfall attack. This way you can gather plenty of Jump commands. Vexen Screw this boss. Spam Firaga on him with the Final Form and cast Donald's Comet Limit when he does his DM. Trying to dodge his DM is a pain, and the anti-form has super armour during his attacks, so.. just spam Firaga and you can get through this much faster. Although using reflega against the anti-form works well too. Lexaeus This boss doesn't have any bs moves. Just dodge his attacks and cast reflega at the end of his three attack combo and you'll be fine. Also you can block his meteor attack and then use Quick Run to dodge the follow up attack. Zexion Get combo plusses, so you can deal plenty of damage to him before he sends you back into the book world. Also when ever he sends you there, open up with a reflect during the first phase, because otherwise you'll be turned into a book. During the second and third phase gliding away can be enough. I dunno how to consistently avoid his book attacks though so.. good luck. Saix You don't take damage when holding the Berserk sword, so don't be afraid of sticking close to him with it. Also don't attack him right away after he has done his DM, because he will most likely just pull another right after it. Instead wait for him to come after you first. Axel If the floor is on fire, he will always do an RC attack when ever he pops out from the firewall. Otherwise during his second and third phase be ready to dodge or block with reflega when ever he emerges from the fires. Also he has super armour during his attacks and it won't go away until he is stunned by blocking his attack or something else. So don't attack until you have an opening. Demyx ... Have Wisdom Form at ready, because when he does the 50 forms and above, you will need it. Otherwise he actually isn't that hard of a boss. You can block his DM attack and thus counter him at the end of it. Just hope that the RNG won't give you anti-form when you need to use the Drive Forms... Luxord Just remember that all his card games now run twice as fast, so I don't suggest bothering with them that much. Instead try to attack him when ever he jumps around, because he is completely vulnerable during those times. Also don't stand still while doing Reflega and instead do it mid-air. Otherwise the cards will hit you. Marluxia There isn't almost any tips to give to be honest. It's a very straight forward fight with next to no bs. When ever he does the exploding vines spell to you, keep an eye on the petals, because those are the countdown. The easiest way to deal with this is to double jump and glide away. If you're gliding or doing a dodge during the explosion, it won't catch you. When he does his pillar DM move, you can simply run around normally in a circle and it won't hit you. Then you can avoid his spinning scythe at the end either by using aerial dodge to block it, or simply by gliding away. And when he teleports away, either dodge or use Reflega on him before he lands on you. Larxene She has hyperamour only during attacks, so once she has attacked, she is completely vulnerable to you. Best way to block her twin attacks is by keeping your back to the wall. Best way to avoid her singular lightning attacks is by gliding in a circle or timing your dodges right. Surprisingly enough there isn't much of bs to this fight. Roxas You can loop him. Do a combo with a finisher, follow it up by a single hit and then take a few steps away from him. This way you can easily react to what he does next, without getting hit by the pillars of light.

When I fought the phantom, I figured out the stopra spell instantly. I never used it much in the game, and there IS a GIANT CLOCK RIGHT THERE. THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO TARGET FOR SOME REASON. HMMMMMM, WONDER WHY THAT IS? It didn't make a difference thought, damn phantom kept killing off donald (whom I set to heal) and peter's worthless ass is just flying around. I wanted to take goofy NOT peter. Dimx was an utter pain in the ass, so I went master form. Thanks for the fire spell tip. It sucks in KH2, like magnet and blizzard (kinda) Also, even after u get the ultimate stop spell in kingdom hearts 1 do u ever use? It wastes so much MP and you can even use it on bosses. WHY?

You have to have Peter Pan in your party when you fight the Phantom. Kinda blows, but eh. However, I brought Goofy along instead of Donald for his MP Gift. That ability is invaluable in the battle because you will be using a lot of magic.

I did not know anything about the clock until this countdown but still it's really annoying when you can only hit the boss 1-2 times before waiting for the Phantom to reveal it's weak point and the matching attack thing is even more annoying. As much; I have never beaten the boss because I could never match the weak point correctly.

I´m with you there, back then I had fire, blizzard and cure in my shortcuts. Thunder is the least used of them all (If I recall correctly) so I would use it manually or let Donald handle it by removing other magic he might have. But man that battle is so long, but Sephiroth in KH1 is a nightmare, but in KH2 he is fairly easy when compared (Because of an extra shortcut and reaction commands).

There's difficulty like Dark Souls, that's difficult, but in a way that if you die, that's on you for doing something wrong, but then there's difficulty like the newest strain of Ninja Gaiden games (Particularly Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, which is honestly one of the WORST games I've EVER played in my life!), where the game's just being cheap and unfair. While many of the criticisms of Kingdom Hearst 1 being 'unfairly difficult' is largely untrue, it's got a lot of big difficulty spikes that make it easy to see where these criticisms come from.

You can figure out the "Stop" thing with the fact that every time the timer goes down, the clock moves as well. The player might notice the correlation and the fact that you can lock on to it, and take action.
