The Kingdom of Heaven was ruled by King Baldwin IV in Jerusalem. One of the greatest kings in Christian History. Perhaps even world history.

Baldwin also tried, _really tried,_ to abdicate his throne to someone healthier than he is multiple times. He was sick and dying and he wanted to settle things before he departed. He wanted to die in peace. But nooooo. Baldwin kept returning to take his crown back because none of his prospective successors could do the damn job as well as he needed them to.

@@TheOfficalBiggestBird Not really. Baldwin is portrayed as a bit older than he really was. He was 24 years old when he died, for perspective (Edward Norton's portrayal is great for the film, but he was at 35 a little too old for the role), and was 16 when he defeated Saladin at Montgisard. In addition, there's no evidence that he was in major conflict with the Templars or Reynald de Chatillon. He did not hang Templars for murdering Muslims (nor were the Templars Muslim-murdering maniacs), and he did not have a good relationship with Saladin.

It is my belief he was who he was because of his unique experiences. Alexander was remembered for his conquest but not necessarily the empire he left behind. It's not easy to romanticise civil war and seeing the work of a generation crumble because of a greed of few. Not to mention, there was the chance he would've been brash and brough the Battle of Hattin sooner to Jerusalem's doorstep than expected. Mind you, that battle was fought with relatively 'healthy men'.

@@debeb5148 i'm not christian so i'm not sure about this, but *killing* and *murder* is explained in the bible, and they are very morally distinct from eachother. some forms of killing are just, one of these justified killings are in war. and while the killings of soldiers and generals are just, the killing of civilians are not. please keep in mind that i am not christian, and this may be completely false.
@debeb5148

@@Swifty_Joe I don't care about your retarded opinion if you really think killing and murder are different, but that doesn't matter. the Bible tells you in the commandments not to KILL. In the very first of the 10 commandments either. In the old testament alone, that was violated constantly "Leviticus 20:27 “‘A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.'” Leviticus 20:13 “If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense." “If there is found among you, within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, a man or woman who does what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, in transgressing his covenant, and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun or the moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have forbidden, and it is told you and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently, and if it is true and certain that such an abomination has been done in Israel, then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has done this evil thing, and you shall stone that man or woman to death with stones." Deuteronomy 17:2-5 And this is just a few of the times. It does it more than that. You live in a distorted world if you really actually think the Bible is all fuzzy and warm and loving. It's not, it's a book of hate and lies
@debeb5148
@debeb5148 8 ай бұрын
@@Swifty_Joe I honestly do not care what you think about murder vs killing because at the end of the day they are synonymous. Even then, God told humans both not to kill and not to murder. And what does the Bible turn around and do? Condones killing against undesirable, stigmatized groups of people in the Bible. Fuck you, you're stupid, if you read the Bible you would know you fucking idiot
