The mannerisms are lost because apes are more advanced. Now they're all capable of speech, even the kids. This film has good worldbuilsing. Noa is probably boring to you because he's going on a journey to save his entire tribe. He's thrust into a world he has no idea of. Mae is in the same situation, they mirror each other. You can see in Proximus how oral tradition can be miscontrued or deprecated. Raka is the opposite in that he holds true to the teachings of Caeser. You didn't watch the film, you saw it.
