To me, this game looked like some child’s game. But seeing it played, I’ve realized it’s elegance and now I want my own copy.

16 plus 4 is 20 not 22 therefore Mark scored 50, but that didn’t matter since Mark made one illegal move so Lincoln is the true winner here...😅🤷🏻♂️

It is a fun game. My kids love the art, their favourite is the forest with Frodo and Shelob 👍🏻😋 And the 3 round campaign and the bonus for filled in 5x5 and castle in the center bonus make for some interesting decisions

You really should wait until a player places their tile before the next player takes and places theirs. You also should wait until all the tiles in a round are selected before bringing out the next set. The game is not a multiplayer solitaire: look at what the others are doing to guide selection and placement.
@GamesAcrossTheBoard7 жыл бұрын
I believe Mark scored 50, not 52. 4 + 16 + 30 = 50 He jumped from 4 + 16 = 22 ;) Mark would have won nonetheless, but just from 1 point.

I believe Mark's 2nd tile placement (7:45) was illegal, since it didn't touch a similar color, or the start tile, right?

Mark made an illegal move at the start of the game. Wheat fields don't match pasture. Not calling him out on it makes people think matching green and yellow tiles is valid. He had no matching piece in his domino placement. So Mark's win is invalid. I guess you guys will have to replay this game.

I'm not sure why the numbers on the back of the tiles matter on how you place down the tiles. The players can pick any tile thye like anyways, so it really doesn't make any difference about which tiles go were on the open field.
@desireerudolph59927 жыл бұрын
Also the ordering of the selection is about determining player order for the round

At 25:50 Lincoln and Nikki mention a Bruno Cathala game about an ant colony that may be coming out this year. I can't find anything about that online. Do you have a link or is everything you've heard in person? Even if it's not finished, I would have guessed it would be on this page as a work in progress: www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/1727/bruno-cathala

lincoln is the winner cause a 5X5 kingdom with the castle in the center is 10 ekstra points

Hi, what happens if you don't place the cards in ascending order? I feel the numbering is pointless
@huttj5093 жыл бұрын
So, it's three months since your question, but the reason for putting them in order is because turn goes bottom to top. Stronger tiles have higher numbers, so picking them has you picking later next round.
@PaulOttaway7 жыл бұрын
Not that it makes a big difference in the game, but you did the set up incorrectly. For the first turn, players take a meeple at random and places it on a tile. In your game, Nikki chose a meeple that was not her own but she still makes the choice about which tile that player will get. Lincoln (next clockwise) would then repeat by randomly choosing a meeple from the three remaining etc.

Paul, that not how I read the rules: " A player takes all the kings in their hands, shuffle them thoroughly and then they get them out of their hands one after the other. When your king appears, place-it on an empty domino in the line." So when MY king appears, *I* get to place it. That's how that line reads, IMO.
@PaulOttaway7 жыл бұрын
Hmm. It sounds like we have different rules! Here's the direct quote from my rule book: "For the starting turn only, one player takes all the kings in their hand. Then one at a time, players randomly select a king from the hand, and places that king on a domino tile of their choice. (It may not be your own colored king this time around)." Out of curiosity, I checked the French rules (the only other language I can read) and it does indicate a starting procedure as you describe. I wonder which version was intended.
@PaulOttaway7 жыл бұрын
The rules available to download directly from Blue Orange Games seems to agree with my text. On the other hand, to add to the confusion, to the best of my ability, it seems the English and Portuguese rules both explain the method I describe while the other languages explain the method you used! I wonder which version was intended by the designer.
@davidarnott60857 жыл бұрын
Heh. The games we play often live at the studio, so to learn the game ahead of time, I'm usually using the English rules from the Geek (if they're there). In this case, that was this link: boardgamegeek.com/filepage/136291/kingdomino-english-rules For me, this other way of starting seems weird. What's to be gained by this? Maybe they think 1st player advantage is too big? I don't see it, especially in a game so light. Why not just drop all 4 kings and move them to the tile they land closest to? :)
@PaulOttaway7 жыл бұрын
As it turns out, when I first was playing the game we just randomly placed the kings on the starting tiles until I read the rules more carefully. Any of these three starting methods work perfectly well as its very difficult to plan too far ahead. Perhaps the "place the king you draw" rule is simply his version of the pie rule used in many other two player games. In any event, I like it because it isn't just random and a bit different than other games. It's a cute bit of strategy even though it largely won't affect the outcome.

Why the tiles need to be placed in ascending order?
@JumpOnYourHead4 жыл бұрын
The lower numbered ones usually have less crowns on them, but will (when placed i ascending order) allow you to go earlier next turn.
