you know how you watch bloopers from some shows and you get to see like "wow, they really have such great chemistry together". This was the opposite of that

they were under intense pressure while filming this show. they shot on film and would be too costly to mess up. they worked 18 hour days and at this point of the show, they got new scripts on the day they filmed. nowadays, netflix takes a year to film 10 episodes but buffy was doing 22 episodes in a few months.

It's nice to see the cast. In fact, I've been watching the series here and there over the past few months on over the air Comet TV. I think they started showing the series this year. The series was ahead of its time. On the other hand, the bloopers in this compilation seemed rather subtle at best.

I love each and every one of the actors abilities on Buffy the Vampire Slayer but I believe if they had made a Spike spin off with him having earned his soul and all, I believe it would have been funny, exciting and still running. He was good in acting any role. Even though the main Spike elements were retained. I saw him as being the !most adaptable.

That’s not true. Only one of these bloopers is from an episode that Joss Whedon directed. “Prophecy Girl” - the scene with Willow and Jenny Calendar. He was a showrunner, so he wasn’t there for all of the filming of episodes he didn’t personally direct. The reason they’re not goofing off much is because they often shot 14-18 hour days. There were 22 episodes in a season. They shot 9-10 months a year. They were exhausted. It’s hard to feel in a goofy mood given those conditions. A lot of actors like to stay in their acting state to jump right back into scenes. If they make a blooper, it’s not like the stereotypical “make a goofy face” and laugh uncontrollably. They’re trying to finish the scene quickly so they can all go home. Another thing that very few fans consider is that some of these scenes were shot at like 3 in the morning. There were a lot of night and graveyard scenes that they’d shoot to get the perfect atmosphere. Good luck trying to have fun when you’ve been up the entire day and it’s 3 in the morning. I’d also like to add that they were shooting on film and NOT digital. It’s super expensive to keep making mistakes. It’s not like nowadays where the guys on Supernatural can afford to goof around on set for hours on end because it’s all stored on a hard drive digitally.

Idk if Joss was guilty of doing the other things he was accused of since i wasn't there and i won't blindly believe accusations against somebody, but he needed to "rip them a new one" at a certain point. Who wants to be at a job for 20 hours because someone keeps screwing up? I know these bloopers exist for us to laugh at, but it stops being funny at a certain point.

It can be really dull, that's one if the reasons some people prefer theatre acting, it's much more raw and you only get one go to get it right. But that comes with a lot of rehearsal and tech so you know... Its a proper job, it can be dull and annoying but if it's what you're good at why not.

Sometimes it can be REEEALLY boring - say there are four of you in the scene, and the director wants reactions from everyone: four different camera angles, and multiple takes each because it'll inevitably go wrong, and of course the continuity needs to be checked so it's always exactly the same. It's a great job, but sometimes it can be mind-numbing.

@@calistusjay60 What about Friends, Seinfeld, or Everybody Loves Raymond? All pre-digital and their blooper reels are actually funny. Usually much funnier than the finished scenes. I don't really think it's a matter of pre-digital vs. post-digital. One could argue that it's a matter of comedians vs. non-comedians, or live studio audience (to perform for) vs. no live studio audience. But then... bloopers for like Star Trek (TOS and TNG) tend to be pretty funny too. Pre-digital with non-comedians and no studio audiences. Seems like it's mostly to do with the atmosphere on the set. Though I don't think you could point the finger at Whedon for setting such a tone, since the Firefly/Serenity bloopers are pretty funny.

@@zardox78 Sitcoms are way less high budget when filming, and have an audience to entertain. Buffy cost a lot of money and had a way stricter schedule than Friends episodes which were usually filmed in a day. There's plenty of funny buffy bloopers too. These are dailies, which are the bloopers that don't make it to the DVD extras.
