I love how these recipes are really not heavy handed. Great use of WB instead of crazy shifts and giving the sims room to do their thing. Reminds me some of the approaches JayRegular posted a video on. Great video!

What ISO do you rock on the Pushed HP5 simulation, auto 400-1600 or play by ear? Also thought I'd leave my favorite B&W film simulation for X-Trans 1 sensors here in case someone would like it as much as me: Film sim: Monochrome ISO: Auto 200-3200 (or just play by ear) DR: 200 WB: Incandescent; R: -5 and B: 9 Sharpness: +1 Highlight: +2 Shadowtone: +2 NR: -2

I’m a bit confused. 🤔 Are we saying that a film simulation can be reproduced playing with a couple of sliders? Here in KZbin there’s a video by Fujifilm that talks about what it takes to craft a film simulation and why they cannot be release retroactively on older cameras (lots of computation). But hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you share this content!

They don't exist in older fuji cameras. So just leave them switched off or at 0.

Great video! Quick question: is it possible to see a preview of the film simulation on the viewfinder/glass? When I shoot a video, I constantly see everything I shoot in a film simulation, but when I want to take a photo and look through the viewfinder, I don't see the film simulation. Is that normal? I would love it if I could see the film simulation all the time to know exactly what the photo will look like. Thanks for your help.

Do i have to use the built in film simulation too? When inputting the recipe, i selected the one given. But apparently i can also add another film simulation via the selector wheel. This does obiously shift the color - do you guys just leave it on standard and then use C1/C2/... oder do you always input the film simulation which you used on the custom profile

Not trying to be a hater, nor an elitist, but none of these "feel" like film to me. I'd say CCD sensors look more like slide film than those examples. But I'm not sure if this video is about truly emulating film or if its just a matter of color production, cheers.

@ElementaryWatson-oxo5 ай бұрын
Don't know why anybody would want a "film look". Films were terrible reproducing colors, dynamic range, resolution. I never use any simulation/profiles on any of my cameras, always shoot in raw and adjust to taste in Lightroom, can't think of any reason to mess with jpegs.
