I met Martina at a café in Hongdae, Seoul 8 years ago when she was getting cake. I couldn't have been a more embarrassing excited fan and Martina was absolutely lovely to me and my friend. So sweet and humble. My friend didn't know who she was and told me after that he thought I met a friend. That's how genuinely sweet she was. I don't know why I'm sharing this now but I just felt like telling this story and how she gave me a great and happy memory, which I will always cherish :)

I absolutely understand the small adventures thing. We didn't have much money growing up so my mom would just randomly take us to new places in our city by public transport. Start at our nearest station and then switch to any different bus or tram line whenever it felt right. Might not sound interesting to a lot of people but it really was. Now I still do similar things as an adult, a small adventure is already taking another route through the huge park nearby.
@lepetitenellie3 жыл бұрын
In that same vein, and even though this will sound weird to other people, but whenever I go on vacation to a major city (NYC, San Francisco, etc), I like to walk around during rush hour be it lunch or after work. It’s my way of immersing into the energy of the city and seeing how locals really are like. I see where the popular local lunch spot is or a line of people grabbing corner vendor foods and I see how they go about their day. I think it’s a better experience than paying my way through tourist traps. (Except Los Angeles. I will always try to avoid rush hour in LA as much as possible LOL!)
@PriscyYip3 жыл бұрын
I can so relate. Every trip to Japan would involve me just walking around a city for hours on end, occasionally stopping by a convenience store to grab some sustenance. Now that international travel is a restriction (I'm in Sydney), I find myself doing a lot more local tourism where I literally just bus it to another suburb and take in the vibe and surroundings of that area. It's great fun!
@PRDreams3 жыл бұрын
I used to do something similar with my kids and called it "The Getting Lost Game". We were homeless and only had the car - money wasn't the issue, I moved from one state to another and the landlord after seeing me decided not to rent to us - so we were living in hotel rooms. Every time we were to change hotels, I would play the game. We would "happen to find a hotel and sleep for a week there and explore the area. It ended up fine. They are adults and remember those times fondly. They just thought my new job was reviewing hotels 🤣 and that I went to the office for 8 hours to write the reviews. When they found out we were homeless, they were shocked. After that horrible experience (for me) I took 4 months of unemployment and decided that the best was to move back to the state I had left. It was the right decision. Three years ago I retired early and started homesteading on the island I was born. ☺️

This is one reason why I strongly encourage kids to learn the piano. If you have basic easy piano skills you can use the technology to create cool sounds and music on the computer. Unfortunately most kids don’t see that prospect and commonly quit music.
@travelminty3 жыл бұрын
@@ramencurry6672 I appreciate hearing that as a piano teacher myself:)
@NoctLightCloud3 жыл бұрын
@@ramencurry6672 I mean, that's a rather naive comment, as most kids don't have the means for learning how to play the piano. At least here in Austria, it's hella expensive and my neighbours in my huge concrete box that is my appartment complex would complain if I practiced at home (also we didn't have space at home for music instruments). Also, some parents are very anti-music. Encoragement is nice, but it in reality really doesn't help much in many cases when it's simply not feasable.
@ramencurry66723 жыл бұрын
@@NoctLightCloud I’ve seen lots of kids who have pianos in their houses and who have had many opportunities to have lessons and they quit because they are more interested in playing with their iPhones instead. Basic piano playing as in simple chords and simple melodies is actually easy. It’s not a demanding thing. You are missing out on the opportunities of having amazing fun when mixing a keyboard to a computer. Many people don’t realize this. It does not take a high level skill to have so much fun with music and computers. This is why it’s a shame for kids who don’t realize this when they have the opportunities in front of them. Absolutely agree. Martina you helped me realise all the little pleasures I was totally missing in my life! I think this mindset is especially important in fast paced cities. Or you just get consumed and stressed along with everyone else. As for listening to our pain, I learnt over the years to walk a tightrope of listening to the pain to know when to stop, but at the same time, not paying attention to the pain. I dont know how I did this, but i think I briefly check in frequently. If I focus on the pain, I'm done, I can't cope with it. But if I don't listen to it, then I'll push myself so hard the pain levels get too high to cope. So it's a balance, but it's worth it to get to that place where I can manage the balance most days.

You're really an inspiration to me, Martina. As someone who also has a chronic pain condition, I often watch your videos on bad days and am amazed at how brave and strong you are. Since you've shared with me, I'll share with you something I saw on a poster at my psychiatrist's office many years ago, which really helped me. It said, "Remember, you are bigger than this pain."

I love this! 1. Accessibility advice is so great as someone with severe asthma. 2. Love the format, as it allowed me to dip in and out as I journalled at the end of my day! Talking about some deeper stuff, so it's nice to have a break to see what you're up to, then can concentrate during the music. 3. So happy to see you out and exploring! It's my fav hobby too, and I haven't been able to at all for a month or so after a really gnarly asthma attack, so this is perf for me too. edit: you also totally made me cry with the "stuck in your head comment". It's exhausting being so aware all the time, and I just felt really seen 🧡🧡🧡

Loved this Martina! The reflection shots of the water were otherworldly and the clown sequence had me laughing out loud. I’m going through a very hard time in my life and you've made my day better. Thank you. I’ll definitely be looking for shoe colors today when I’m out.

It is good to see you again. Enjoying your videos especially your music....very soothing. I usually listen to rain, thunder and wind music (black screen) to sleep but now I'm gonna listen to your music as an intro to get me into that state of mellow mind. Blessings to You and All

This morning I woke up and said “give my ONE good reason why I should get out of bed today” Then you popped up in my feed. Told me to try to build a ladder and count the colors of peoples shoes. I will report back later with my findings captain Martina!

I love this so much! The peaceful vibes, the cute little "find an adventure" and "build a ladder" and the King Kogi graphic flying across the screen made this the best vlog I've ever seen. It's also making me really really miss Japan, but you're giving me so many ideas for what to do when I finally get to go back!

Martina, I just wanted to say you are an inspiration. Your channel was my reason to move to South Korea in 2017, and I am still there now. It is great to see you continuing to work and keep busy, making music and just in general DOING IT. Like literally, I spend all day doing nothing due to fear and anxiety and laziness "it's too late for me, I can't do that, I have no education in this, I have no direction its all a waste of time." I wish I could be more like you and just DO stuff. Just stay strong, and know that we support you and think you are amazing.

There is so much heart and soul emanating from this video, I'm almost astounded. Watching this video was like getting a nice hug, just warm and fuzzy. I mean this in the best way when I say I got Mr. Rogers vibes. Love all around.

Your stuff means a lot to me. I had a fascination with Japan from a young age, my birth dad was an English teacher in S Korea I found out as a teen, I am ADHD and autistic late diagnosed, got out of a shitty 10 year relationship about a bit over a year ago, grabbing a microwave hamburger from the rural gas station and making sure to add extra "gross" mayo and a pickled egg and going to look at rocks by the stream while eating a cheap and amazingly delicious meal from the store

I don't usually comment but I feel like I need to say this. It's been a rough couple of weeks due to health reasons and trying to stay on top of school as well and the depression caused by it. This video was the positivity I needed in my life. Thank you

After an extended hiatus from the old channel I was missing Martina and I just went looking and found out about the split and found Martina’s new content and I am obsessed! I adore this combination of optimism and mental health support, audio and visual art, animation and beautiful cinematography, perfect, soothing music, cuteness, low key adventures and crafting. This is fantastic, feel good, not too overstimulating content for us introverted HSPs with depression and chronic illness/disabilities. Martina, you look so happy, and, as someone with a history with abusers and narcissists, I just want to say that I totally can feel the confidence and joy of discovering your own strength radiating from you. So happy to have found your new channel and look forward to sharing more of these moments with you. 💜👑🐖

Adventures with our favorite pig, and Martina moving back to her favorite place in the world? Double cause for being excited. I love the post-editing with Kogi popping up on screen for "Build a ladder" opportunities, fun little photo bombs, and just being a general cutie.

the ending music really hit home. I been having a rough few days with my back pain and to be reminded to build a ladder and any quest is a good one, really made me shed a tear and smile. Thank you King Kogi and Martina.

@@cobrabeebop Sharla and Chris have both done collabs with Tokyo Creative (even after the departure of Chris Okano). So if she's already working with them, then I can see her working with Emma, Chris, and Sharla at some point. The connections from Tokyo Creative seem to have a pretty decent reach in hooking people in Japan up for different projects.
