Honestly I often like to compare the 2016 xxl class as Rap’s Nirvana moment. Imo I just feel that the sentiment, impact, stylistic shift, and the landscape it created in the mainstream carries many similarities. I grew up on that type of music right in the heart of it during the bridge between my middle school and high school years. I’m sure this is what it felt like to be a teen Nirvana fan in the 90s
@dannyhayworth8833Ай бұрын
Deadass I’ve had the same thought, it feels like the phases of musical evolution repeat themselves in diff contexts/genres. Also smn I thought was funny is I was talking about this w my dad who was a teen in the 90s and he said that most people back then enjoyed Nirvana, but not many identified as a true fan cause they were viewed as annoying, wild, groupies, kinda like how some people view like carti and Travis fans etc. now
@DannyBedoАй бұрын
From the amount of deaths and experimental sound scapes this is very accurate. I’m a 30 something Bay Area rock historian and I can draw an infinite amount of parallels between the explosion of depression musicality that has rolled over for several generations of American musicians.
@dannyhayworth8833Ай бұрын
@@DannyBedo I’m 22 years old so the majority of my experience with music has been relatively recent but both of my parents and my grandparents have always been huge music people so multiple generations of art have been intertwined in my upbringing. Stoked to see someone who studies it to the extent that you have, sees similar connections that I do :)

This song changed the world in 1991. To this day, it’s the line between classic and modern rock. Basically, the oldies era is everything before the Beatles came out in 1963. The Classic rock era is from the Beatles to the beginning of the 90s, and the modern rock era is from Nirvana to today

Sick Kingmil. I like that you caught the vibe despite the distance between Nirvana and you (decade, culture, genre, etc.) Can I ask you one thing? Do you have like a type of Top List or tier list or something like that of your fav music? I tend to be more on the hype/agressive side of music aswell, and since I like your reactions and the things you like, I thought maybe I can learn a couple things about artists that can spice up my boring ahh life 😅
