But if he wasn't willing to work hard and utilise that power for himself, he was going to forever stay that lonely kid on the swing. That power that Hagoromo gave him? Only because he trusted Naruto to use it well. What I'm saying is, if you'd put the nine-tails inside most people, they might not become powerful. They OP was wrong because his being special only gave him the potential for power. It was Naruto himself who fulfilled that potential.

Jony FiftyFour Bro when you are the child of prophecy hard work is USELESS/ MEANINGLESS. Rock Lee is the hardest worker in the naruto universe but he will NEVER EVER be as strong as naruto. Why ? Seriously consider the complex history, some of it likely to be revealed within the next couple of chapters, between Riku & Vivi, and try to tell me Pain's history is even half that. Pain was a kid saved by 2 people that became his friend, trained by Jiraiya, saddened by the loss of his friend later, gained his powers from Obito, destroy konaha, then got talk no jutsu'd by Naruto. How does that have more depth than anyone I mentioned from One Piece? Maybe Mr. 2, but his personality is amazing.

Oda has shown half a billion times that giving characters meaningful back story and depth =/= slow pacing. Slow pacing is when the story isn't going anywhere, and in Naruto land that is usually caused by UNnecessary backstory, such as the 50th god damned Rin flashback. We got it the first ten times bro. How Mizukage became who she is now? That would've been relevant during her fight with Madara, or even Zetsu?? That easily could've been weaved in seamlessly to the story. We got it for Onoki.

Naruto talking to pain wasn't done bad at all. That was actually extremely well done. Pain NEVER saw himself as “evil" nor did he want to be seen as such. Because Pain BELIEVED in what Naruto believed did as well, it's not that he was just some random guy that he knew absolutely nothing about Naruto's ideals, and Nagato STILL had ties to those believes in what he was doing and the whole point was that Naruto was to remind him that he had those ideals as a student. Yeah Naruto didn't have an answer but he needed to remind nagato that what he believed in the past was still more valid and in the morally right path than killing innocent people to achieve the illusion of peace that he wants to put on people that he doesn't even fully agree with. Pain WAS still realistic in finally seeing that what he was doing was a extreme vision of the views that he had in the past and he had to believe that whatever naruto was doing was going to move forward with his former self that he was in the past. Nagato NEVER really wanted this to happen. It's more a concept of placing hope and optimism that relies on something that won't cause chaotic destruction. And that's a whole ton better than whatever pessimistic downward spiral that the Akatsuki were doing. Among all the issues and problems that Naruto had throughout it's run, The Pain Invasion Arc was fantastic from beginning to end and it blows my mind that you people can't see the interplay connection between Naruto and Nagato and how that intersects to with Jiraya's book that he wrote and how it all ties into one another.

That's like asking what makes Twilight characters plastic and fake in comparison to Game of Throne characters. There's 1 word for it. Depth. Each individual character that gets the spot light has a long back story as to how they became who they are now. Instead of just the main character and main villains like in Naruto getting that depth, we have a long list of characters who aren't main, that have significantly more depth than Pain from Naruto. Vivi, King Riku, Mr. 2, Fisher Tiger, Jinbe, etc.

Tbh, Fishman arc gave me mad respect for Arlong, whom I thought was one dimensional up until that arc. Damn that's a hell of a back story. Anywho..
