Known for his ability to mix his written verses with freestyling effortlessly, Diz's unique style has helped him stand out among the top tier. Back in Toronto to try to reclaim the chain for a second time, Diz goes up against Pat Stay to see if he can take the throne once again.
By far one of the most feared battle rappers in the world, Pat Stay has earned his reputation as a heavyweight. I had to come back to this to pay respects for Pat. Dude opened up my eyes to the battlerap scene. This was the very first battle I've watched and I was hooked. The way Pat controlled the crowd. The way his punchlines landed. The smoothness of his flows and deliveries. The way he could flip Diz's lines on him. Pat is a fucking legend and the news of his death is beyond heartbreaking.

Diz is versatile as fuck. The shit he spits is on some other level that most emcees don't even touch. His wordplay and metaphors are nasty, and his freestyle ability makes him dangerous. His only drawback is his delivery. He crams too much shit into one round and to do it he spits his bars really fast, which is fine when you watch it at home and can let all the nice shit he's saying sink in, but I imagine he gets slept on alot live because people have a hard time keeping up with every thing coming out of his mouth.

This was a testament to how well rounded Pat was! Did the long rounds which is Diz thing and what Diz wanted and Diz stumbled and had some slips and Pat was pretty flawless. Adding to that not only was he clean three rounds Diz really only barred out aggressively and fast flowed. Pat was flawless while mixing aggression bars swag and comedy! RIP to the best to ever do it when he was in his zone and one of the best most creative well rounded writers ever to rap!

Dizaster has taken everything about battling too far for most people. That's why fans do not identify with him, most of these fans think they're rappers too, but they don't see themselves in him like they can in others, because the techniques are too advanced, the confidence level is too high, the rhyme schemes are too elaborate. Dizaster doesn't have an "I've been battle rapping for 5 years" style, he doesn't even have an "I've been battle rapping for 10 years" style, he has an "I've been battle rapping for 20 goddamn years bro" style. His skill level is so far beyond debate it *makes people angry.* People hate the fact that he's so undeniable, they see that and they want to somehow prove themselves by pretending to be unimpressed. Dizaster is on par with Kanye for bringing out the jealous weak little bitch in so many fans at once. People hate him because they're fans of all these other rappers he goes against, including two musically famous and widely beloved rappers (Canibus and Dizaster), and when Dizaster goes against ANY rapper it gets incredibly personal and incredibly nasty incredibly fast, *not to mention the fact he makes these rappers people love and listen to and identify with and define their lives by look like wack ass posers and amateurs, consequently making people feel dumb for liking them.* Dizaster is so fucking good at battle rap he turned "I'm ridiculously, blatantly better than whoever I'm battling" *into his gimmick.* Diz has a level of skill so high, he made people give up trying to say he's not advanced and instead try to think of ways to say that advanced rapping is lame.

Peter DeWitt Yeah, Diz is so good that most of his haters' criticisms of him aren't really even criticisms. Irrelevant freestyles? That's code word for his multis being so swift and diverse that they fly over everybody's heads. Personal attacks? It's battle rap, anything goes. Sweaty, sloppy, trying too hard? They only say that because he comes loaded with so much ammo it's like a soldier using a tank to kill a mosquito. He's total overkill. I guess he does sometimes overdo the attitude (repeatedly shouting "fuck outta my face!" after he delivers a knockout punchline instead of just standing there and letting people soak it in) but it only goes to show how deeply immersed he gets in his battles when he's on fire. Peter DeWitt I'm surprised there are so many comments calling Dizaster trash. I know it's an opinion but it's still hard to believe. Especially on the battle where he notebooked Canibus by round 2 and finished off his remains in round 3 -- prior to which Canibus apparently called out Diz first and after which Diz mentioned in the interview that he himself was _holding back during the last round_ -- there are still people going on and on about how Canibus has a more lucrative career than Diz, how Canibus "in his prime" would have blah blah blah and so on, and the haters do that in every battle Diz participates in. In truth, every time someone argues that another rapper beat Diz, said rapper "beat" him because of style (Pat using the friendly joker persona to appeal to the crowd and counter Diz's angry demeanor, Cassidy staying calm and throwing an imitation of Diz's style back in his face, etc.) and not substance; in terms of sheer lyricism and speed, Dizaster is basically untouchable at this point. I can't think of any other battle rapper that can rhyme so long, so much, and so fast.

I am a huge fan of Pat Stay. He is a quality battle rapper, with a great sense of humor, and knows how to play up his appeal to the crowd... Still a great battle watching years later! I would say 2-1 Pat Stay, but I could see others giving it to Diz too. I mean Diz did have more bars, but a lot of them didn't hit that hard. Pat brought some dope bars too, and also better stage presence, humor, and just better style IMO. Diz spits the same high energy flow the whole time, while Pat switches things up and just takes control of the room.
