I'd recommend you replace the Kings supplied negative cable to the inverter with the same size as the others. For example Redarc specify 55mm2 (1/0 AWG) for combined length up to a metre and 120mm2 (4/0 AWG) for 1-2m. Victron Multiplus specifies two cables on each of the terminals (ie 2 x 50mm2, so 4 in total). The Kings and iTech for that matter are insufficient, possibly dangerous. Not an issue if you're just drawing low amps, but max it out with an induction or similar and see how hot the cables get. My install nearly caught fire before I upgraded the cable sizes.

Hey mate, thank you so much for the feedback. I was wondering about the Negative wire as it does look way to small with what Kings supply. I will be sure to Upgrade it before I go away in 2 weeks. Did you Earth the battery and inverter to the chassis? Also do you think 70mm2 at the same length as supplied Kings wire would be sufficient?
@rchess796 ай бұрын
I would not earth to the chassis. Just earth everything back to the battery.

Hi, nice video! How has the King 3000W inverter been working for you?

Hey, thank you. So far, I have had it installed since I posted this video, and it hasn't missed a beat. For the price you can't go wrong

Get rid of that thermal fuse in place of a mega fuse. That Ebay isolator is garbage too. Feel the heat being generated at all your lugs within these two parts, it's too hot. Throw them both, no need for the isolator, just a mega fuse. There will be zero heat this way
@petercarter60865 ай бұрын
Nice job 👍 Do you need the isolater, or would it be ok with just the resettable fuse
@ScottyzBuildz5 ай бұрын
Thank you. You probably can do without it, but it is good to isolate incase u leave it on and can drain the battery. If you don't use the battery for some time, u should isolate it. I will be adding another isolator that will turn off the complete trailer.

I have had 2 of these go bad in less than 4 months.first for no reason the red light comes on .the inverter didn't get hot neither was there lack of battery power because I have six 115 AGM king's batteries they have full charge for 12 hours during the day and only drop to %80 by 930 pm .in the morning they only drop to %70 .no more king's products for me .

Oh, really good to know Kim. I just got back from camping, and it seems the indication cooker kept tripping it. So I will be doing more tests myself.

In regards to off grid systems in caravans/vehicles - seeming a live chassis from faulting appliance can kill you without a protective device, using a portable RCBO plugged into the 240v output will protect, but because there's no earth to ground, YOU will be it. This should cause the RCBO to trigger but it could be too late.. If you installed an earth stake from inverter chasis it was have tripped without you in circuit. Just a friendly reminder to all that 240v is 240v, it's dangerous and without a protective device or ground you're dicing with death

Hey mate, I'm about to install mine upright and wanted to make sure the fans blew "in" the unit and out the vents near the plugs. I can't get my fans to come on yet to check. Would you happen to know? Thanks so much
@ScottyzBuildz6 ай бұрын
Hey mate, what kind of fans are they? Are they wired correctly to your battery? Or shunt? Maybe test them on another battery first.
@ethaniles55436 ай бұрын
@@ScottyzBuildz hey mate, just the fans in the back of the inverter. Wanted to make sure they sucked air into the unit so when I mounted the inverter vertical with power points facing the sky the got air would want to travel upwards and our those cents near the power points and the fans would aid not fight that
@ScottyzBuildz6 ай бұрын
@ethaniles5543 Oh, to be honest, I'm not sure which way the blow. I would think outwards as it would be removing hot air from the inverter. But you could be correct. It might suck them through the unit. I will have to check mine. I have my side fans, so the top one is blowing out as the hot air rises.

hey man im currently building a mobile grooming van and want to run a similar setup. if i run a high amp alternator will that keep the batteries charged even when running the inverter
@ScottyzBuildz6 ай бұрын
Hi Dev, I will all depend on how many AMPs you are drawing. Yoo will either need leave your car running or if it is only for short time the car will charge once driving but will take some time. Mine Alternator charges at around 30amps. Having a big enough Inverter that can hold constant draw for your needs. Mine can have continuous draw of 300amps and spike to 320amps for 5sec. But bear in mind you need big enough batter or batteries to last out the day for your grooming. You could run 2 x 300ah batteries in parallel that will give you 600ah in total. I would also suggest getting a Victron charger so you can charge it when at home or when out on site if needed plus add solar to the top of your trailer. My panel is 170watts and can pull in 9.5 amps in direct sunlight. I hope this help you out. Scotty.
