The ups and down of the Christian life. What a hope in Christ we have!
@walt34796 жыл бұрын
I will say I am very comfortable with the explicit version and even more after reading why Chad had gone and used the words he used. He knew he’d face backlash but he made this song to really connect with those who fall into depression and anxiety like he does, for those who are afraid God has turned His back on them, so yes words that aren’t common in the Christian language will come up in those states because those who need to hear it will be the ones who connect with it the most just like myself having heard the explicit version first is what got me hooked on this group because I must was struggling with anxiety when I had stumbled across them, and this song is the same way I felt when I was crying out for God.
@carbon2735 жыл бұрын
Walt Isaac It goes beyond just him making music for Christian perception. I think we tend to forgot how human we are and how real our relationship is with Christ. It makes me think of many Christian worship songs that just repeats the same thing over and over again. I’m not taking away from those type of songs but it lacks depth of realism like the studio version of this song does. The silence in this live version in itself spoke volumes.

There's also this assumption within Christianity that using words which we've deemed as swear words are always sinful. But that's not true, cursing someone is sinful, but using a "curse word" does not always mean you are cursing someone. I remember hearing Chad talk about this in an interview.

I listened to the full song last night. I have been struggling with anxiety and depression for years now, and all I can say is I broke down in tears saying "God loves me. I'm not alone." I came into the actual realization that I am terrified, but He loves me. I have been searching for Him, but He's there beside me. He died for me. He loves me because I am His child. Thank you, Chad. The last verse is now on my lock screen for a constant reminder.

I honestly think both versions of this song is just awesome. I mean knowing what he went thru, the people that didn't like the explicit version wouldn't understand what it means to see what we go thru in our own lives. They have it all good. For us, we go thru things that we can't see or know when it's coming. Sometimes I actually ask, "Jesus where are you?" And as I wait in that long silence, he talks to me and gives me a glimpse of whats to come. Yahweh
@walt34796 жыл бұрын
PerryMac82 I see what you mean yet I still disagree, because even though this a song and he has to go through the efforts of thinking morally of it all, this song is still a prayer he made so at one point, before all the instruments he was on his knees in his most vulnerable state and for the many who a dont have a Christian background will do the same so I feel it’s wrong for us to just say “he’s wrong for cursing.” When we arnt God ourselves, we shouldn’t t rebuke our brother for what he said but lift him up from the pit he was in.
@TrevWILL796 жыл бұрын
In his plea, reveals the reason that we need His grace. I’ve told God to” shut up, and didn’t want to hear it!” How out of my mind was I? Yet, it was His Holy Spirit bring me back to my senses. People are not spiritually mature enough to handle messy situations, even if it’s pre-meditated to be heard.

I've actually suffered from the same thing that Chad suffered from so I know exactly how he feels which is why I like this song soooooo much. It almost brings me to tears every time. In saying that I'd like to add whatever he does in his prayer closet is between him and the Lord but I must say from a biblical perspective it is very irresponsible to publically release a song with explicit language to the public. This song is just as powerful without the f bomb and maybe even more so. Like someone commented earlier I don't believe Chad is going to hell and no condemning is going on over here but as Christian's we have to call sin, sin and not sugarcoat it. Blessings fam
@abmon2435 жыл бұрын
Rodrigo Barba that is the best comment I have seen so far. I agree with you that the song does not need the f bomb, but I can understand where chad was coming from and the cultural impact Seattle has had on him. The song is excellent, but we do need to call him out on it with the love of a big brother or sister. Unfortunately, I am no long allowed to listen to this band because my parent found out about the explicit version WHILE IT WAS BEING PERFORMED IN CONCERT. This parent now restricts me from all of their music including the beauty between and zeal which are both phenomenal albums. I just wish the community had more grace and understanding towards him. They have brought a sound and presence like no other and are criminally underrated, but it was irresponsible of chad to release the explicit version because the f bomb was so unnecessary that the song is just as wonderful and powerful without it.

God loves you. I know alot of people dont like to hear that but I didnt listen to God last year and one of my taekwondo coaches got killed(God did not kill my coach). He was like a brother to me so I'm sorry but I had to write this. Like I said I know that sometimes in life alot of things dont make sense but I promise you there is life in Jesus. I would have put a bullet in my brain last year if there wasn't. Please follow and accept Jesus Christ. Hell is not worth it. But also remember Jesus didn't die for you just so you could go to heaven one day but still live like hell till you get there. He died to get heaven back into you. The thing that makes heaven so beautiful is not the streets of gold or the singing angels its the overwhelming love, peace, and joy. Its the fact that there is no more evil, no more need to be afraid. Its the fact that God is there. When you accept and follow Jesus the bible says the spirit of God will come and live inside of you, and God through his spirit and his word will teach you to have overwhelming love, peace and joy. Also because of the sacrifice of Jesus there will be no more evil in you. You will have God guiding you so there is no longer a need to fear. If you simply listen to him all the peace, joy and purpose we seek in this life will be given to you through obedience to Jesus Christ. Dont listen to the world when it says you are insignificant, its not true! You are more than significant. You do matter! You're not a mistake! You were meant to be one of God's children. So please follow and accept Jesus Christ, life will start to make sense when you do.There is so much more to this existence. There is so much that is there but cannot be seen. I will be praying for you as long as I'm on earth. I have faith that you will see God's hand in your life. Its not over! God bless and have a great day! theres a guy named dan mohler on youtube that explains the gosple of Christ very well, Look up Dan Mohler- what is our purpose Also Clayton Jennings, David Hernandez, Todd White, Marcus Rogers, Francis Chan and Paul Washer

I. Can't. Even. One of his best. And yes...I've heard the original version. Christians hurl stones at them, but are quick to forget John (the beloved) asked Jesus if He was even "The One", and that David (dubbed a "man after God's own heart") wrote many psalms that would be deemed depressing and even sometimes portrayed that he didn't know the God he was serving.

Yeah, King's Kaleidoscope are using their honest, earnest language to describe the far greater things going on... It's like the "sloppy wet kiss" line from How He Loves; it's okay to sing it differently... yet for the artist, they were worshipping in truth and spirit.

Man! First of all, i love this lyrics, and then, the way he express them, is just so real! This experience is something real in the christian life, this is what the psalmist expresses a lot of times, but we are so prone to always have this “victorious and happy christian face” fearing to be judge as a lower class of Christian. But scripture tell us that we will walk thru the valley of the shadow of death, but the Lord will be right beside us, and after the trial, we will say like job: “my ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you” and last but must important, He gave himself for us... what a beautiful words!

I've prayed this prayer many times, and sometimes the silence was unbearably long. But there was not a single time I didn't experience God's overwhelming love at some point after that. He is faithful and He knows exactly what I'm going through. It often is still difficult for me to accept God's unconditional love, because I don't feel deserving of it, and I even feel that way right now, but I know I'm going through a long process of learning and accepting His love and fully realizing the extent of it. Maybe that process will only be finished in heaven, but I know this journey will be rewarding here on earth as well.

I know as someone who is relatively new in there faith the other version in particular spoke to me. That's the beauty of the Gospel is that God meets us right where we are and there is nothing that we can do remove his love and his grace from us. Me I curse like a sailor still. God will remove that in time but the sanctification process definately isn't overnight. And people are quoting Ephesians 4:29 and acting like that is a tell all without remembering that we are all sinners. I know for a fact that some people are touched by this song, wether he says fuck or not. I think is really irrelevant. He's not claiming that this song should be played in churches in a choral setting on a Sunday morning or go play this for your children and have them sing it and if it brings some or a few closer to God why take that away. God uses everything. The times I heard God the loudest was always always when I was right there in the middle of my shit. And had returned to my own vomit and he used people in ways that legalists and others like that would call them.evil. Like I said im completely new at all this. But there is 3 things I've learned. And it's all back to the heart. 1. Love God 2. Love People 3. Where sin abounds grace abounds even further.

Espacially after that silence, its like Jesus is calmly showing is his hands and feet and telling us my blood was shed, it is enough, I'M enough for you and I'm there for you as i was there for you on the cross. And then the upbeat tempo with is just amazing, its feels liking Jesus lifting us up to dance with him to celebrate his victory in which he brings us along with him. Beautiful song. love it
