@Ishtar-lk6yzHe choose Haydee not because she was prettier, he choose her because she showed him that her love is strong, she can't live without him even being free with money that offered her, she would suffer without him and for Dantes she was a begining of happiness that he though he will never have. Mercedes told Edmund that she will not marry anyone else and she will be waiting. Her betreyal was when after 14 years he discoverd that she married Fernad (she did not know of his betreyal) only after half a year after being in prison, in his eyes her love for him was not that strong as she claimed.

Wonderful movie. Sort of the disney version of the Count of Monte Cristo, with a comforting, happy ending. I think they should remake Hamlet so the ending isn’t so tragic.

Believe it or not, this film reflects my own life. From an impoverished council estate kid they betrayed and had arrested, to the man i am today. Revenge comes in many forms, not always visible to the naked eye.
