I had mentioned months ago that i wish the Kings would use 2 forcheckers deep like Florida. The Kings on the forecheck played a 1-2-2 stack or spread. I wanna see them use a 2-2-1 on the forecheck. I think the major flaw with retreating to the 1-3-1 in the neutral zone is that the Kings often retreated out of the offensive zone way to early to be in position for the 1-3-1. Kings need 2 forecheckers in aggressively and hold the zone longer.

It was good hearing about the 1-3-1 not being played. I know it works, but I feel that teams have adjusted to that system and they now know how to beat it. But my question would be, do you think this is two weeks too late? Or do we have the reliable pieces to make this work.. seems like this could have benefited us two years ago, but TM is stubborn as heck..

Kaliyev on January 21st had 12 points and was a +7. After that he finished the season with 3 points and was a -10.

I hope that 1-3-1 won't appear during the power play again...

The 1-3-1 power play set up works. Kings didn't have a right handed player last season with Vilardi traded and Arvi out all season. The 1-3-1 power play set up is the same system used by Edmonton. They use it to set up attack triangles down low and LA stacks three 1 timers across the middle. This season LA has a few right handed forwards in Lafferriere (who has been working on his shot all summer) Thomas, and Fagemo. Clarke is also a right handed player and can slot in on the left side on the power play.

1-3-1 wasn’t used cause they know that by heart I’m pretty sure it will still be used 🙃
