My Dad, an artilleryman, would say, "artillery lends dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl". The synchronicity, timing, comradeship, leadership and of course the stunning horses, well groomed, well trained and well ridenand a credit to the intention and purpose of artillery. Big gun go boom! And troopers doing their jobs, free of gender restriction. Well done, men and women!

To keep the horses going, pulling 1.5 tons of gun carriage, and rotating the horsewhip at the same time is incredible horsemanship. And did you notice how the lead rider is keeping a look out for the other team leaders ? You can see the riders using their inner leg to keep the horses going. Excellent! Well done Major Harry Wallace!

AMAZING! Ab-so-lute-ly AMAZING! Incredible display of horsemanship, with the precision and panache only the British military can pull off! Nothing like it in the United States, more's the pity. My first exposure to the King's Troop; how I wish I could see them in person. Thank you for posting this.

Richard Cleveland there used to be an annual display of military skills called the Royal Tournament, held at the end of July. It lasted a week, and was held at Earl’s Court Arena in London. Each Service (RN, Army, RAF) took it in turns to be the “host” service, and there would always be a foreign guest unit. Some elements were always in: the Royal Navy Field Gun competition (the most insane obstacle race you’ve ever seen), massed bands and this, King’s Troop RHA Musical Ride. You feel the stands shake under your feet as these limbers and guns thunder by, incredible. I think I was 4 when I first went. But, then, Tony Blair didn’t like tradition, pageantry or anything which would give the Armed Forces any feeling of respect among us civvies, so he stopped the Tournament, and sent our forces ff to sandy places where they couldn’t offend his wife’s leftie sensibilities!

That's a great pity. Ceremony is something that the British military is so good at - SO good that there isn't a runner-up!
@keithorbell89464 жыл бұрын
Richard Cleveland I suggest you look up the RN Field Gun race, they still hold it annually, and the results of each race are beamed to all ships. Sailors have lost fingers deliberately when they stick a finger in to replace a missing locking pin for wheels in the gun carriage or limber so their team doesn’t lose. Insane.

Superb equestrianism. Remember the gun and limber have no brakes or steering and weigh as much as a small car and have less stability.
