They are on duty in the box for an hour then changed over so water is not an issue in winter in a hot summer they will bring water out for both horse and Trooper . So Reggie is a gelding Venus a mare , they are bought at around 3/4 years old then carefully trained once they pass training names are suggested by the Troopers and a favourite chosen , using the alphabet for each pass out , next letter is Z , so Reggie will be around 9/10and Venus about 7 .

They were rude, arrogant, argumentative, and disrespected both the exhibits and staff at the museum. When I was a little girl (too many years ago) my father who worked very hard all year would take a day off during the week and take me up to London for a day out - we always walked the same route from Victoria Station, past Buckingham Palace, up the Mall, through Horse Guards Parade to see the Guards and Horses before going onto Downing Street, and then off to various museums - it was never this busy, no armed police but "city men" in Bowler hats carrying umbrellas and I loved every visit...whilst we sometimes took photos of the Horses and Guards and the parks, we never thought once about taking selfies (and never be rude to the guards!) - after all these years I only need to look at a map or close my eyes to remember those special days with my dad .xxx Watching this also makes me remember those wonderful days and the beauty that is london x

FALLOUT: Yes,,Hasidics do volunteer to serve in the military, hundreds of orthodox men have volunteered for the IDF. The difference is it's not mandatory, as it is with other Israelis fit for duty. Yet they are in both the military leadership and lower ranks in the IDF, by the hundreds. Do some research before you stereotype. Their taunting of these guards, however, is an entirely different issue. I've seen other people who also have visibility, also be reprimanded, like Chinese members of the communist osrty who misbehave in much the same way, etc. All of us need to be clear and careful about what we say, and what our motivations are regarding tourists who act inappropriately, whether they've git high visibility or not. I've seen some comments here that border on something of questionable, selective reasoning. I'm thinking hard about it too.

People are complaining it’s antisemetic it’s not, it’s recognising one group of people are regularly known to be very disrespectful; no one is attacking the Jewish faith. However my own personal note is this … if a kid from Gaza threw a stone or mocked Israeli soldiers they have been known to be arrested and much worse. As someone of Jewish ancestry I’m ashamed by the group’s behaviour and attitude towards the Horseguards. As an American who has traveled and lived in Europe, I am SOOOO offended on behalf of the King's Guard and the Horse Guards who must put up with rude, entitled, badly behaved visitors from both Britain and beyond. They are reflections on both their parents and their culture, and I include US folks who behave badly when visiting any other culture/country. In all honesty, as much as I admire the history and culture of England, I really think it would be wise to strictly limit crowds or, better yet, to stop allowing visitors to be so close to the Guards for both the good of the soldiers and of the horses. Tourism generates money for the host country, but is the degrading of history and culture plus the stress to the horses worth it?

Before anyone starts clutching their pearls and claiming anyone is being anti-Semitic they need to ask themselves why it’s always Hasidic Jews who are appallingly disrespectful to the guards. They should remember that many of them wouldn’t be around at all if it wasn’t for the heroism of the Life Guards in 1945. The other group are just as disrespectful.
