Im Irish and living in Ireland, what strikes me about these videos is how quiet all these towns/ cities are. Do people not walk around town theses days? There doesn't appear to be a walking culture? Thank you
@realappalachia4 ай бұрын
That’s a great question. Oddly enough, Melody and I have been watching videos of Ireland and Scotland lately. Now that you mention it, we did see a lot more folks walking in those videos. Honestly, there really isn’t much of a walking culture these days in small towns. I can’t really say why but it’s pretty rare outside of tourist areas. Might explain some of the obesity issues.

We left New Jersey (unfortunately). We are now in Hopewell, VA, which is an independent city, not in any county, but surrounded by Prince George County. Nearby are the cities of Colonial Heights and Petersburg. They call the whole area the Tri-Cities. Hopewell's population is 23,000 and that of Colonial Heights is 18,000. I forget what Petersburg's population is, but it's bigger than the other two. At least we are closer to Appalachia now. It's not all that far to go west to the Blue Ridge Parkway or whatever. I have heard of Kingsport, TN, but only because the membership mailings for a car club I was in, were coming from there, 25 years ago or something.

Domtar is using some ancient settling ponds that have been unused for along time. It is apparently what's causing the stench and it is being worked on, but it is supposed to take a few years to get it under control. So I heard from a former employee.

I don’t know, but Johnson City is mentioned in a Travis Tritt song so it’s the coolest.
@realappalachia4 ай бұрын
But Johnson City is also mentioned in Wagon Wheel and I’m sick of that song 😂😂. It’s pretty close between Kingsport and Johnson City I would think. Bristol has old money but not a lot going on. Johnson City has more variety and diversity of ways to make money. Kingsport has a lot of wealthy from the medical field and Eastman but the common citizen is mostly poor. My guess is that the correct answer would be JC. Most new people migrate there

Too coincidental that last night on a TV murder show they were solving thw vase in South Florida where this same lady had dressed up as a clown delivering flowers and shot her current husband's previous wife. The show said that through forensic advancement testing procedures they tracked that lady down and arrested her at her house somewhere in Virginia. They did not say specifically where they arrested her 25 years later in virginia. Too wild that her and her husband owned that purple cow drive through restaurant in kingsport,tn. She had used a stolen vehicle and purchased flowers and 2 ballobs from a local South Florida grocery store. Then she drove over to her boyfrienfs house and murdered his wife who owned lots of properties that were sll in her name. So tgw motive was that he would inherit all of said properties when she died. There are too mant evil people living in our world.

No Tennessee Eastman stinks too . They are my close neighbor .I remember the first time I smelled it ,I thought I'd die. The Indian used to be on Memorial Bvld. and they sold souvenirs. We met that daughter a while back because My Father in law had a print shop below the original building. The man that made that Indian his little girl used to :swim" in the water under his feet . It was moved to Pratts when Pratt's opened . Welcome to Kingsport.

Domtar does indeed stick up kingsport,tn. They have water pools that contain wood pulp. Soon as you cross bays mountain on interstate 26 heading north you smell that awful pewtry sour smell. It is a very disgusting smell. I grew up playing soccer in kingsport back in the 1970's having to breathe in that nasty smelling air.
