The day Ann Richards was buried was a really hard one for me. After the public funeral service held in the Erwin Center ended, I stepped outside one of the exits. Looking to my right and a little ways off was Kinky Friedman smoking a cigar. I had met him a few weeks before as it was around the time he was touring the state for his gubernatorial campaign. I went over to say hello. That day, I found a great deal of comfort in hearing Kinky share his own sense of loss with Ann being gone. Now, it's time to say a little prayer for you Kink. Rest well.

Jews Are Not A ‘Chosen People' (Nor a 'Race'): Acts 10: 34 “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:” Ephesians 3: 6 “That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:”

St.John 18: 36 “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” St. John 11: 54 “Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.” St. Matthew 5: 38 “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?” St. Luke 23: 3 "And Pilate asked him, saying 'Art thou the King of the Jews?' And he answered him and said, 'Thou sayest it' ('that's what YOU say')." St. John 9: 16 & 22; (also 10: 19 & 31) "Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided." St. John 13: 33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” I Corinthians 7: 6 “But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.” I Corinthians 9: 20 ” And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;” St. Mark 10: 42 ”But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.” II Corinthians 3: 12 "Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." Romans 11: 12 ‘For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.’ St. John 7: 1 “After this, Jesus went around in Galilee, purposely staying away from Judea because the Jews there were waiting to take his life. But when the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was near, Jesus' brothers said to him, ‘You ought to leave here and go to Judea, so that your disciples may see the miracles you do. No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.’ For even his own brothers did not believe in him.” St. John 8: 52 “Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.” Romans 10:3 "For they [Israelites] being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." Revelation 2: 9 “I know thy works, and tribulations, and poverty, (but thou are rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are of the synagogue of Satan.” Matthew 23: 8 “But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

Why doesn’t the fact that Pontius Pilate, the Governor of Judea serving under emperor Tiberius, who brought Jesus to trial, then convicted him and then executed him ….. get more attention/ credit for what he did? There is no reliable authority anywhere that makes the claim that Jesus’ tribal members killed him. Yet this false accusation keeps coming up, over 2000 years ago.
@WF2U6 ай бұрын
Exactly. The charge was Maiestas, which means blaspheming the Emperor and through him also all Roman citizens and the majesty of the Roman Empire. Conviction for Maiestas is mandatory death penalty, with no commutation of the sentence or pardon. Pilate convicted him of Maiestas following questioning, when he asked Jesus whether he was the king of the Jews. Jesus replied: You said it. Pilate took it as an admission. The reason for Pilate not pardoning and releasing Jesus, but releasing the thief was that Roman law permitted pardoning for theft, but not for Maiestas, as mentioned.

Individual Jewish people don't have a uniform belief about gentiles, which simply means anyone else not Jewish btw.
