S5IIX is seriously the A7III or GH5 of this generation. I pair it with the FX3 and they’ll match easily, and it cost half the price. Love the video!

Do you find any difference in Image quality between s5IIx and fx3?
@FilmFlab4 ай бұрын
@@daniellrodriguezs The image out of the S5IIX is very nice! I find they go well together, maybe due to both having Sony sensors. They’re my A Cam / B Cam these days. S5II is tad sharper due to lacking an AA filter and having a 6K sensor.

@@FilmFlab I mean, I have the S5IIx. But wondering how’s the fx3 in terms of image quality is it better or worse than the lumix?
@FilmFlab3 ай бұрын
@@daniellrodriguezs the FX3 and S5IIX are roughly the same image quality wise imo. Switching to the FX3 wouldn’t be an upgrade in image quality. I have an FX3 for 4K 60p uncropped and the HDMI monitor lag on the S5IIX. I also wanted a 50mm 1.2, but this was before the Sigma 50mm 1.2 came out. If the S1H II is incredible, I might switch to all Lumix.

what is your open gate workflow? I wanna shoot more open gate but it makes my computer so sluggish, and I can't record open gate proxies. any suggestions?

My second year with 3 of the things for weddings; 2x static and 1x roaming. Great value vs capability IMO. 6k Open Gate with great IBIS. Log grades easily and decent file/download/storage sizes.

Nice one dude. I ordered my rig and opted for the tila handle with npf battery mount built in as well as the samsung t-5 ssd drive holder to go on that arri attach point thing. I got the tilta cage for easy removal.i hate the idea of a massive battery behind my camera. Each to their own. I also got the 5" video assist 12g to record braw.

Or a "splitt" version, like some Switt and Axcom battery. Where you can "split" the batetry in two when traveling and having both -100wH battery, and assemble them once you need them.

quick question! I have a canon 200d and its really hard to rig out that camera as there isnt any cages for it? Do you have any tips? I would like to mount a top handle and then a monitor on that top handle, but i just dont know enough about camera accessories to find the right thing. Would love to hear from you if you got any tips!

heavy batteries on the ninja are a pain in the ass. you gotta watch your horizon too much because the weight is off center. i also hate cables but while shooting and recording they are nowhere near as annoying as that tiny amount of doubt in your head and sideways torque you have to produce to keep everything level. it also fatiques your arms suprisingly fast. i use a usb-c to camera and then d-tap to atomos cable with a similar rig as yours. those smallrig batteries are nice though. charging with usb-c saves a lot of room while on a trip.

thinking of getting the S5IIx, one question I had was do you ever notice the lack of 4:2:2 when shooting 6k? I would ideally want to shoot 6k open gate 4:2:2 10 bit, but I think you have to choose between 6k 4:2:0 and oversampled 4k 4:2:2...has this been an issue at all or would you say it's not a big deal? You mentioned that the 6k is what really shines, but I am just worried about the 4:2:0. Also curious if you think the S5IIx is a big step up over the S5II.
@Wildridefilms4 ай бұрын
6k 4:2:0 actually has more colour resolution than 4k 4:2:2. 6k 4:2:2 would be nice though.
@MaximoJoshua4 ай бұрын
@@Wildridefilms I mean ok, sure, technically you are capturing more color data...but one point of shooting 6k is to cut it down to 4k vertical and horizontal...in which case you receive none of the benefits of the extra pixels you captured and then cropped, and you might get banding in your horizontal and vertical footage. I downloaded some test footage shot in BRaw on the S5IIx and I saw really bad moire, so I am just curious how actually useful the 6k footage is...if it's meant to be one of the major benefits of the S5IIx over a 4k camera. It also can be difficult because its such a mix of codecs, and aspect ratios and resolutions, that it can be hard to know if you are actually going to get the combo you want. For example, I believe if you want to record BRaw, you have to use the video assist, which limits you to 4k, right? Same for ProRes RAW on the Ninja V. So, I am just curious in what scenarios you can use the 6k (only recording internal?) and then once you have the 6k footage, is it going to be good for grading given that it is only 4:2:0... I really think the S5IIx might be the perfect camera, but just want to do a little research first.
@MaximoJoshua4 ай бұрын
in order to record the 6k open gate, you have to give up ProRes or RAW, and half of the potential color info... so it's either a more flexible resolution with worse quality, or a high quality 4k image that you can't reframe/stabilize/crop. just curious how much this actually matters in real world use.
@connormccaskill4 ай бұрын
For me, it hasn’t made much difference. That said 6k 422 would be a stellar upgrade. Maybe in the next LUMIX iteration

The reality is, I have to make money, so I align myself with brands I already like. The build is really great, but if you don’t like that it’s sponsored, I get it. I’d recommend watching bts videos of productions if you want to see what they are using. Although I find that proper production tend to be old fashioned and use clunky gear.
