Kino, This is exactly what I needed to hear today. I have been practicing the Primary Series for a year now, and it's been healing my own mental wounds very slowly. There are days when the only time I feel alright is when I'm on my mat, and it inspires me to return to my practice when I feel down. I've been going through a very depressed time as of the past few weeks, and I find myself sleeping in instead of going to my Ashtanga class, which I would never do with a healthy mindset. The only way that I've found to get out of periods like this is to be open and honest, and always do the opposite of what my mind says (for example, going to yoga instead of staying in bed). Thanks so much for your inspiring words, I am more motivated to get on my mat today, and will keep your message in mind in the hard days to come.

I have never commented on a youtube video, but I really needed to hear this, so thank you. Depression has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but yoga has really helped so much. It has taught me to breath, physically and spiritually. I have had a few hits to my ego with delays in my goals recently, so I felt the depression and bad self talk creeping back in. When you said it is exactly what I should be dealing with right now...that is so right. I think of that Rumi poem...The Guest House... "Be grateful for whatever comes. because each has been sent as a guide from beyond." Thank you Kino!

There is no better yoga than be natural, and in this video, by showing us your natural side, make it the best of your videos. Many time people asked themself who is the been behind-inside that pose? What has changed in your life by applie your practice? Now the answer. The weak part is the seed of the action...so in the posture so in life. but thank's to this weakness our journey can begin. The journey toward oneself. Welcome home Kino! Best Regards Tiziano

Thank you for making this video. It speaks to me on so many levels. Before I discovered yoga two years ago I had been working hard on creating a better relationship with myself through counseling, CoDa meetings, life coaching, self study, and adopting a plant based lifestyle. After my first class I knew right away that yoga was the missing component. All the self care work I had been doing suddenly came together and I knew that what I had been seeking was already inside of me. Now I am able to generate happiness from within and not have to look anywhere outside myself to feel fulfilled or complete. I can let go and those answers I used to feverishly search for come to me exactly when they are suppose to. With my yoga practice, I continue to discover that place where the physical and spiritual sides of my life merge and create a balance within that I can take everywhere I go. Namaste.

It is through a period of depression that I found yoga, first as a momentarily place to forget and then more and more as the way to crawl out of the deep dark hole. It is incredible how yoga creeps on me like that. I started ashtanga a couple months ago, and with the increasing physical strength, the mental strength follows. The realisation of the profound connection between the body and the mind (and hopefully one day the soul too) is the motivation to continue going on this path of light. I hope that one day that feeling of entitlement to happiness will come too. It shows how disappointments and broken hearts are the fertile ground for spiritual journeys. Thank you for sharing this video, it gives me hope for more to come in this journey.

Hey Kino, thanks so much for this video. Although I am not going through a period of depression at the moment, I know that it will really help if I start to struggle again. I started going to meditation classes and then yoga when I was in a very dark place. It's so nice to see someone like you, a radiant wise woman, talk about going through the experience that I so identify with and coming out the other end through the path of yoga. I am now grateful for everything that has happened, otherwise I wouldn't have arrived here. It would be awesome to meet you one day :)

This video is just what I needed to see right now & everything was well said. I started yoga teacher training earlier this year & have been practicing the Ashtanga primary series regularly for a few years. I've been reading a lot of yogic literature, & just started Yoga for Depression by Amy Weintraub on my own to help understand & address my own issues. I'm in a much better place now than I was a year ago & before, many thanks to having a yoga practice. This video confirms why I need to keep doing it! Many thanks.

Hi my lovely Kino! Thank you for being and sharing the yoga philosophy and your experiences :-*** I started doing yoga five years ago in India (where we moved with family) had a teacher but also have practised on my own with your videos. Unfortunatelly after comming back home I stopped which was a mistake... I suffer from depression my whole live but I finally realized (I´m 39) that only yoga can help and heal the old wounds. So I´m slowly starting again (having 3 little kids :-))) and practise with you because you are my favourite yoga person on KZbin... You are such a nice person! Wish you all the best and again ... big thanks for being there for us! :-)

Hi Kino, It was very coincidental stumbling across this video... I started watching your videos more intensely lately after realizing how good you are at it and devoted to the true spirit of Yoga. You've inspired me to practice harder and now I look forward to it every morning. I do a combination of Hatha and Kundalini yoga. But as I watched one of your videos the other day, I saw the pain and depth in your face, and thought maybe, just maybe, she suffers from depression. Takes one to recognize one. I once had a friend tell me after having met me for the first time in person, she could see the depth of pain in my eyes. I have fooled a lot of people, but we tend to be able to recognize it in each other. Many people don't know how to be around a depressed person, so we hide it. And we don't want to act depressed around others (necessarily). It tends to be personal thing we carry around quietly often for a lifetime. You might consider it a life theme, at least it has been for me. I commend you for confessing this personal aspect of you. Although it's not easy to live with, I have found those who suffer from deep depression to be some of the most kindest, genuine, and sincere people. I believe we are here in physical form to balance the planet in a healing way, but we intuitively know there is so much more to reality, and the limitations pose a real struggle for us. I came out of my depression in my early twenties when I stumbled upon this concept knowing it was all temporary. But a Kundalini awakening in my late thirties threw me down again, crippling me emotionally in a way I hadn't been before. Ten years later I still struggle. But despite the pain I often live with, I am always grateful to have the perception into life that I have. We feel life to a depth that many cannot. That is the gift we've earned for choosing the path that we have. Namaste

I love all of your videos too, but this one is probably my favorite so far. It really hits home. I often wish that one day I could get off medication, and trust in other forms of therapy like yoga. I think getting there is the hardest part though. I've been dealing with manic depression since I was 13, and I have been on meds forever. I honestly don't know what it feels like to not be on meds. Thank you for this today! I really need to get inspired to get on my mat today! Much love Kino!
