After staying for the night at the house of some strangers, they invite me to join them for their traditional bedouin breakfast. The women bake bread, while men enjoy having some great food. A beautiful bedouin hospitality shadowed by the fact that my hosts have searched my bags, took money in it, and sabotaged my bike.

I felt bad after these families spent enormous time and effort to treat you with extreme hospitality. The end part was so saddening but yet you can't blame the family as they didn't know what was going on behind the curtain with those two thugs. Yet God bless the generous blessing family.

They weren't expecting a stranger among their midst. The family genuinely hosted you but someone (one or two) within the family took the opportunity to rob you. In introspect, the thieves would have thought it was not stealing - you were given free accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner (endless supply of beverages), entertainment, sightseeing trips and all of these came at a price of the amount they stole. You assumed they were generous on their part but thats what happen with the nomads. They are truly not hospitable. I found myself in a very similar situation in Jordan.
@KinoYves

Well, everything they offered me was absolutely not worth $400. And they also cut the rack of my bike... so I think that it was more than just making me pay for what they offered me, it was planned robbery from when they decided to propose to host me.
@AaHM15

I know what you mean. They masked their planned robbery in the name of hospitality. Very disgusting and disappointing to take advantage of a visitor. I'm glad you made a quick exit. Take care!! The family looks welcoming and friendly, especially women and the older men. It is hard to believe that your money was stolen in the same house and somebody tried to sabotage your bike. I think the two men you expect to have stolen your money may have been upset when they had realised you were going to leave without leaving something behind to the family. I am not sure that was the case. But this is just hypothesis. In some cultures , when a guest is hosted, they leave something if they can as a sign of saying thank you. It is considered impolite and ungrateful to just leave. Some people may even intentionally stop guests that look rich on their way, invite them to their house for a few days in order to get money in return. They don’t ask for anything when the guest leaves, but they expect to be given something. I think that is what happened during your stay in that house. Your hosts, especially the two bearded guys you refer to as thugs, may have noticed that you wouldn’t leave something. So they decided to take some your money behind your back.

You left cash unattended over night, the person who robbed you didn't take all the money which suggests they were afraid of the consequences of taking too much. Cutting the frame seems more like something a child would do or an act of spite or someone who didn't like your presence than sabotage. I think you did the right thing to get out of there, it could be that they were planning to rob you and someone took their cut early, but I wouldn't be so quick to accuse individuals without proof.

A child would not do that, curiosity would get the better of them than to destroy something. As a kid I would rather have stolen the whole bike whole than have it destroyed. But if it was locked then it's possible a child tried to steal it.

I am moroccan and have a big family. 20 uncles and aunts. And countless cousins. 99% of my family are virtuous, religious and moral people. The most generous people you will meet. But there is always a 1%. You need to take this into consideration when encountering such a big family. Sad to think that so few people can stain their whole family's reputation. And not fair i believe.
@KinoYves
@KinoYves 2 жыл бұрын
But these 1% have a huge impact on society, they have a much greater impact than the silent 99%. So in this sense, the 99% are also guilty for letting the 1% becoming a threat to society. And you are right, I should take that into account when encountering such a big family.
@blendermonkey960
@blendermonkey960 2 жыл бұрын
@@KinoYves I don't think the 99% are guilty. Because there will always be a 1%, its unrealistic to think that perfection can be achieved in this life. Unfortunately there will always be bad temptations in life. And In my experience, the bad apples in our family have stolen and abused us (their family) more than others. Its a shame. And its wrong. But I think its more Dangerous to paint all with the same brush. Because it seems to me that its not the case that they are all thugs. That being said, I think you show a relatively well balanced view of the place and you deal with the situation well. Welcome to Morocco anytime 🇲🇦
@blendermonkey960

And to add 1 more thing.. that I think your videos are proof of.. the generosity of that 99% is incomparable to Europe.. When you go to Europe.. you can't compare

@@blendermonkey960 in general terms what you are saying might be correct, perfection is difficult to achieve... but in many cases is also true that this 1% (that is really more than 1% in general terms) is let to behave wrong by the rest of 99%. In Zahlé, Lebanon, it's well known of some Syrian refugees stealing from townhouses. So we have to leave our doors closed (mostly at night time) and everything securely locked and well placed. Poverty is an issue so robberies are becoming more than when the economy was more stable. The refugee boom also added to the economic crisis within Lebanon.

I am optimistic that, unlike the two young men, the Family members are humble and remarkably hospitable, as I can see from the footage. However, the man in the visor cape, in particular, seemed to me a trained professional in covert operations and intelligence gathering. I noticed his facial expression and eye movement in the footage and concluded that he could inflict the most heinous damage and camouflage it. So lucky to escape unhurt, man!

It only takes one person to do a bad deed, they seemed genuine but they were performing in front of the camera. I guess you will never know who did what but it seems unfair to judge anyone without a proper trial and evidence. If you were mistaken and they were genuine then it terrible to make all those alegations when they were soo hospitable to you. All you can do is learn from the situation i suppose Bon chance...

There’s a saying “your best friend can be your worst enemy”. The nicest people can be the worst behind your back. I’ve experienced this in different ways. The women, the kids and elders seem so kind. I’m curious who robbed you and cut the bike, all or one? The guy with the jean jacket was so intimidating, and looked like a mafia boss. So unfortunate. You could have been kidnapped and held for ransom or worse. Hezbollah and/or other terror networks operate in areas as such. I’m Ukrainian and look at Russia- the least worrisome nation became the most evil. Can’t trust anyone these days. Many wouldn’t dare to go to areas you’re exploring. It’s fascinating to see the world. Stay safe!

the most evil?? so, shelling civillians for 8 years is not evil? man, tbh from my many experiences in Ukraine having lived there(Odessa) with a girfriend i loved... i can say with certainty that Ukraine is the most corrupt country in Europe. A country where more than half the population speaks Russian and in 2019 they decide to ban the language official use ( cultural suicide). Its like banning French language in Canada. How do you explain the Odessa administrative building massacre? Why did you even bring this subject on this channel?? Accept it, your country is just a "tool" for the US to wage a war on Russia and you are paying with dear lives...

I think they were caught and thrashed by their parents at the end, so they probably were asking about your whereabouts to return your belongings. Also the 'goodluck' wishes were probably because they felt a bit guilty too. Looking at his personal project of restoring his bike explains why he might have stolen your money, thinking you are filthy rich and taking a bit might not do nothing great harm. But again, too optimistic about my feelings, after seeing their bonding with one another of their people. Such shit happens sometimes too. Their (true) holy preachings does not allow stealing and sabotaging others who trust them. Hoping they just acted in haste than with their good mindset.
