the lack of components is a good thing when coming to fix things. but smelly solder really puts you off your dinner so I would leave it until after as then gives you a bit more time to problem solve!!

also if it was the screen smashed, then more than likely the casing would have been damaged first with chunks missing. but as the tube is intact, and also lack of damage to the casing I do believe it to be an electrical fault as my main suspicion before a broken tube.

Smelly solder thanks Kip it's the high voltage zener at fault which supplies the tube. Mick aka buy it fixit because of it's rarity had to use 4 zeners in parallel or series? to replace it and got it to work. 😀

@@kiphakes The Donkey Kong was epic. There was also an F1 type game, where you had a full steering wheel binnacle, gears and accelerator pedal. Price was madness, something like £300 in 1985! My mum was a manager at Binns and got 35% discount!
