Great news thank you for information about the update! As a real pilot (50 years plus) I want to point out that RA is NOT used as decision Altitude with a Cat 1 ILS the Baro altimeter is used for the minimum’s that determines the minimum descent altitude. The RA is used for Cat 2 and Cat 3 mins. Yes this is game but however a whole lot of want a be sim pilots want to become real pilots! So give them the correct terminology and how it is properly used rather than they learn incorrect information latter to have to ram dump the incorrect information! Again video Kip😁🛫
@KipOnTheGround2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that correction about using RA for a Cat I ILS! I also should have said "decision height" instead of "altitude" as well :-) I can't find too much information about it online other than an AVWeb article, but they do mention that RA can be used as a backup during a Cat I approach, but it does say that BARO mins should be used, not RA mins. Great to know!

Yes, this G1000 going as the default for Flight Simulator is a significant step and strengthens the WT collaboration as a solid partner. And the Bonanza, have Radar???? No. The Bonanza does not have a Radar, no radome or pod on the wing, like TBM, Cessna 208 (DA 62 has the Radar in the nose). Early release of the sim had Radar for all G-1000 planes, but they removed Radar because the Bonanza, C-172, single engine DA, etc. are not Radar equipped. Just like Asobo... on again, off again, on again, they can't get it right. Great review.

I don't know if you mention it in you video or if it's implemented, but I believe the baring line used for selecting what you want to see on the vertical profile screen. If it's implemented, you can use the small FMS knob to move it left or right (You might need to press enter first.)

Great video as usual. From what I've read online, the updated G1000 NXi as described in the video will now be an integral part of every airplane that uses this device, so after Sim Update 10, should we delete the "Garmin G1000 NXI" update that currently shows up as installed in the FS2020 Content Manager?
@robjones38182 жыл бұрын
Correct, you will no longer need the Marketplace package to use the NXi in the stock planes. However, third-party planes which are not updated to use the NXi will continue to use the original G1000 for the time being. To work around this, once you update to the SU10 beta, you will see a newly available NXi update in the Marketplace, v0.14.0. If you install this it will patch the default G1000 so that third-party planes use it by default. This is optional, but highly recommended. - Rob, WT dev.

If you mean you want to change from Inches to HPA, you can do it on the PFD. Press the bottom "PFD Opt" softkey, then "ALT Units". Hope that helps!

Thank you KiP, may I ask you a question? G1000 NXi (SU10): how to store / save a completed flightplan direct from the active FP screen ? THX
@KipOnTheGround2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you can't do it directly in the NXi (not sure it they'll add that capability in the future either), but you can save flight plans from the World Map if you do your planning there. Another option -- if you're looking to save some time -- is to import a flight plan file (like from SimBrief) into the World Map before loading into the plane. Just make sure to double-check the plan to make sure it was imported correctly.

Thanks again for sharing all this information. I would like ask you about the difference between NEXRAD and the weather radar. Maybe if the answer is complicate could be a good option for make a new video ;) Regards!
@KipOnTheGround2 жыл бұрын
NEXRAD is a network of weather radars that are mostly in the USA, and the precipitation they detect can be displayed on the NXi. I think of it like I'm looking up a current picture of the weather in my area online, which updates periodically (between 5-20 minutes mattering the severity of the weather). The onboard weather radar, however, is your personal weather radar equipment installed on your plane, so it gives a real-time look at precipitation in front of your plane.

Hi Kip! I'm currently an X-Plane user with a GA cockpit build (lots of hardware and multiple screens) planning to finally try Msfs2020 and the new, so waited, multi monitors settings ability. Now on Xplane, I use home made panels for the G1000 with hardware simulating joystick buttons giving me the possibility to control the G1000 functions inside the sim. Is it currently possible to assign joystick buttons or keyboard keys in Msfs settings to control the G1000 ? I was also thinking of the Air Manager solution, but I think it will only work with touch screens or arduino circuits. Thanks for your help!
@jrod_pilot_miami2 жыл бұрын
Any idea when they'll allow waypoint offset? In the real NXi you can set an altitude "offset" from a waypoint so that you can descend to that point using VNAV, on say a visual approach in a Class D airport, for example, where you want to be at pattern altitude by the time you enter the airspace (usually 3-5 miles). This would be especially handy when doing an VNAV assisted visual approach.

No idea, but I'm hoping for that feature to be added too!

See I don’t get how if they have the weather radar (which looks similar to the other I was using, PMS50?) it looks like it works the way it should, displaying the height it’s at and all, why can’t FBW or Fenix or PMDG get it into their screens. It’s obviously possible right?

Any idea if the Flight Plan being sent right to ATC will also work with other planes? Specifically thinking of the CRJ700. But does this apply to all systems, or only for the updated G1000 NXi?
@KipOnTheGround2 жыл бұрын
The ATC/FPL sync issue was specifically an NXi problem, so it has always worked with the stock/Asobo G1000. It's possible that other third party planes that have their own custom avionics don't sync with ATC, but I don't know offhand which other ones may have this issue.

How's this going to affect the Bush Flight? Right now (or at least the last time I used NXi version), the flight segments weren't being saved and had to use the default G1000. Also the Nxi wouldn't show the flight plan. So is the ver 1.0 going to make flying the Bush Flights impossible now?
@KipOnTheGround2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about the segments being saved, but the most recent beta update (from Wednesday) has this note: "After receiving community feedback, flight plans will now be loaded during bush trips in the G1000 NXi" Full notes on the 7/20 update are here: forums.flightsimulator.com/t/new-update-release-notes-1-27-11-0-july-20-2022/531350

What’s better to have ? Pms750 or this ?
@KipOnTheGround2 жыл бұрын
I like the PMS 750 for two reasons: (1) it being touchscreen makes it much easier to use in the simulator with your mouse, instead of hunting for the correct knobs around the display, and (2) it's a huge upgrade for planes that don't have a G1000, where you want something a bit more modern than the GNS 430 and/or 530 (it can even be used in the top toolbar in planes that don't even have a GPS). I'd get the free 750 version and try it out yourself. If you want the premium features, consider the paid upgrade. Hope that helps!

The NXi is included in MSFS now since Sim Update 10 was released! If you're using a 3rd party plane, you'll need to get the G1000 NXi in the Marketplace for it to work. But, all stock MSFS planes with the G1000 now use the G1000 NXi by default.
