This guy's back is still hurting from carrying the team for so many years. He played at such a consistent level for 70+ games for 7 straight seasons, and rarely ever had an off night. This week has truly been amazing from a fan base perspective and shows what a great teammate he was. I'm glad I was able to attend this ceremony in person, congrats Kipper on this tremendous honour, hopefully we'll see him at the Dome more often.

I used to wake up 3am to watch Flames play back in those days. I remember Kipper being from outer space and the only guy who made Pavel Datsyuk frustrated. I remember other teams fans frothing from their mouths when their goalie made highlight worthy saves a few times. Kipper did that in every game. Flames fans got so numb that eventually they didn't even bother to stand up unless the hatch opened in his chest where the laser beam came out and shot the puck to pieces. I specifically remember when Flames played the rare game against another division team who thought their goalie was the best and how they were gasping after they saw Kipper in action for the first time. There were so many other great players too. It was peak NHL and I'm glad we had the technology to save some footage from it for the future generations.

This city is eternally grateful for his years here. Make no mistake about it, despite the team having some incredible players, Kipper is the reason we made the cup final.

The legendary pipe minder that so many of us grew up with... One of the best goalies to ever play the game, and he was ours. Seeing so many of his most incredible saves gave me chills- the memories don't do them justice. Did anyone else tear up as his banner was raised?
