Fun fact, Rise of Legends was only 1/3 done when released, there were plans for three other civs and placeholders in the game for them and even a unit or two One was a mongol inspired civ with mobile cities, one ice/tundra based civ, and one with giant beast people

Well, I guess each age of the game industry has its problems: - Old cult classics are completely playable with a little patching to work in modern systems and even though the devs couldn't finish their whole project, they still delivered a complete game. - Modern AAA are released in whatever state they are and are slowly patched into a playable state and whatever content they couldn't finish is released as DLC, and that's without talking about the already finished content that was cut off from the game to release as DLC.

The real problem with video game preservation is modern copyright law. The current system allows companies to hoard IPs practically indefinitely and provides them with far too much leverage over them. If we had something closer to the old system (21 years then it goes to public domain), it would be far easier to preserve games and just media in general. Heck, there could be entire companies making a living off of bringing old games to current systems.

28:50 It's like nintendo and the entire first 7 generations of pokemon games. You know, the ones that actually had even a moticom of effort put into them. Gen 7 was okay, and had a nice plot with the ultrabeast mind controlling the aether foundation head with "Inhibition-reducing drugs" and tentacles, which totally, absolutely, definitely did not do anything to my groin. Gen 6 was great, and I never once in my three playthroughs experienced any of the supposed lag issues. It had a good region, a GREAT gimmick combat mechanic, some awesome pokemon designs, and a BEAUTIFUL soundtrack. Seriously, I have fallen asleep before to the sounds of Laverre City. It even had roller skates! And sure, gen one was a bit grindy, but 2-5 were AMAZING! Gen 4 and 5 specifically made my... ATROCITY of a childhood bearable, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon or Pokemon Ranger were also great games that deserve recognition. And you can purchase NONE OF IT from nintendo, as of today.

Devil may cry 3 is the last good DMC game in the series and some would say (including myself) is the best DMC game in the series.

But... Um... DMC2 is the only bad one though... Sure 4 had some development issues that resulted in them copy-pasting the rust half of the game backwards for the second half, but that as bad as it gets. And 5 is just plain awesome.

@@RipOffProductionsLLC I haven't played 1 or 2 (yet, i plan to) but I've seen 4 and 5. 4 was a mess and Nero was a mistake. 5 was just insulting. It's clear that they didn't like the older games and that came across very clear in the dialog and gameplay . . . and that fucking wig scene. You just can't beat 1-3 Dante, sorry.
