Which I think wouldve been fair of them to say/do, if a little crappy because it would typically help the bigger creators instead of the smaller ones. Having criteria that some people can meet and some cannot is akin to consideration, and would make it a lottery, not a giveaway anymore. Sure, a giveaway can let people have multiple entries, but the criteria for multiple entries has to be something anyone participating could easily meet.

This whole case goes to show, but companies exist to make money, is poor logic for defending a company. Since here we have a company doing something to save some money and going by their logic, didn't make any money off this person. If what they said about no one clicked on the link is true. For companies often get so greedy, they make choices that just end up backfiring, for it might make money or in this case save money in the short term but in the long term burn everything to the ground. Which of course It is just lovely to see this company burn down to the ground, over their bad choices. It truly feels like justice, to see this wanna be Uruk-hai, get what is coming to their company. Along with it just feeling good to see a company being punished for being a massive ahole for once. Which I do love how everyone but this company just basically won here. I don't have enough popcorn for all of this. For I think basic common sense should of told the wanna be uruk-hai behind artesian, that you don't change the rules in middle of a contest or when it over. I've had success with some affiliates and it can be successful. I agree that most affiliates do not reward you as much as you should be awarded. As a rule of thumb we generally stick to formal sponsorships - makes life so much easier. Great video by the way. We need to stick up for what's right when companies change the rules of giveaways like this!

The lack of flexibility to pivot the conversation says all you need to know about the company. Do a drawing and every winner is a small steamer, perfect position to go on a campaign how you care about the little guy, and maybe even get them all together in a livestream later on to push the product even more. Some of the big guys win it and a few smaller streamers win it get them both together and increase your brand image even more. The only loss here is thinking you were giving away a product in the first place when what you were supposed to be doing was increasing your brand.

I used to stream years and years ago in like 2016 under a different alias, I peaked around a few hundred viewers at a time and used to have the worst affiliate deals. I got lucky my cousin knows a lot about laws so I'd always have her take a look at contracts in case there was skeezy shit in it. I think I took maybe like 5-10% of the overall deals and that was after I had to fight tooth and nail for deals that didn't dick me over. Thanks again for the video in any case, good shit as always.

Lots of good info about the sponsorships that I never knew about. In my day job, we always make sure to have "we will pay, not to exceed X" or "you pay us the greater of X or %" clause. Need to make sure there is a lower bound you get paid, or an upper bound that you pay out. And negotiate it back and forth so both parties are happy in either case.

Thanks for the great video. I am glad that thanks to Artesian, we now talk more about bad and exploitive business practices that try to take advantage of small content creators and their constant struggle to grow. Just as another thought: you see the PC builder in the artesian clips next to the wanna-be-ironman-dude? He asks "no subscribers?" in a way, that is absolutely clear that he knows what is going on and probably everyone else in this company knows what is going on. This is not an idiot CEO having a bad day, this exploitive practice is one that is deeply inhereted in the culture, practice and business models of these shitty companies. Their whole marketing strategy is build on taking advantage of others and I am thanksful that you pointed that out from your experience within the whole video. We need definately more awareness of that topic! Always remember, everyone: If you are creating content, you are a brand. The power of your brand is your own alone. You have the power to decide what to do with that brand alone. Don't let others tell you something else and take advantage of that.

This is so upsetting to hear about. I actually recently launched a product business of my own with an affiliate marketing program. It’s just my wife and I that run it but we’ve poured our blood sweat and tears into starting it and spent a year of hard work getting it started. I completely recognize and acknowledge small creators are the backbone of it, and I absolutely want to be able to provide a sincere and lucrative opportunity to small creators and grow together. I super appreciate everyone we partner with and do NOT equate their following to their value as human beings. I see the potential in them and their awesome personality and think “wow, I’m so lucky to have found them before they got big” as if it’s inevitable. I just can’t comprehend how companies can prey on these people, that would just never be an idea that enters my brain.

I have yet to find a university in the USA that makes Business School students take mandatory ethics classes. As a biologist I had to take a 300 & 400 level ethics class as an undergrad. also the biz half of my family are like this ceo. Also spent some time working for a tech recycling company in the NE called Castaway Technologies with racist Ceo Cameron Deery. If you are a tech company in Mass, do not choose his company, he's also quite bad at his job, like telling a racist joke during a mandatory company meeting.

Good video covering this. I'm not sure why though, but as I've been watching a number of your videos throughout today getting caught up on this and that, this one had one odd issue. I'm only 16 minutes into it and I've gotten Ad rolls about 9 or 10 times already. It's a little bit absurd, and I'm unsure of why it's only doing it to this video. Makes it hard to follow along at times when sentences keep getting cut off in the middle.

@@KiraTV1 Yeah I have no idea! The shortest time between ads for me was 30 seconds at one point. Some seemed like they came at fairly natural points, and then others would pop on their own mid sentence a few different times. Very strange, as none of the other videos did that to me lol.

@@erythsea Regrettably I'm starting to think so. When KZbin Premium started becoming the bulk of the ads that I was getting pre-video, I noticed that ads started popping up much more frequently. It sours me to think that there may be some intentional tomfoolery going on to make the service less comfortable just to sell a solution to their own problem, though. My internet is atrocious though, at a maximum of 3.5 MB/s, but realistically I get 2 Mb/s download on a good day. Not having my videos constantly stop to buffer ads, and then rebuffer the actual video itself again every time would be nice though lol.
