I really like how inhaling two or more enemies/impact stars at once give you a much stronger star projectile; it gives good incentive to be a more risky by getting closer in the action. I also like how when Kirby falls for long enough he enters a state where he'll destroy an enemy on contact, which is a clever way of making up for the low screen resolution so you can make bigger leaps of faith with less consequence than otherwise.

This is super good. I’d always just considered Kirby’s Dream Land an extended tech demo for Adventure (and tbh I still do), but I wasn’t aware just how radically different Extra Mode was. Should probably give it a shot now. Thanks for the review!

Great video! Thanks for putting it up. I was never a Game Boy kid so I had no idea that Kirby's absorb-the-enemy's-power mechanic came later.

Somehow I expected Ocarina of Time next. ;) I loved Kirby's Dreamland when I was a child because it is much more accessible to children than most other platformers. A good game and I found it interestimg that this review almost lasted longer than the game it's about. :)

Sorry to disappoint :) I'm honestly exhausted, needed something simpler and less intense to refresh my mind!

In this case, Kirby's Dreamland seems to be the perfect choice. :)

LOVE this game. Also I need to point out the skill required to make a review that's almost longer than the actual game lol. I used to play this constantly as a kid, on car rides and all that. I think I only actually beat the game once, it was pretty tough for a little kid!

The custom color palettes built-in to the Game Boy Color allow Kirby to be pink apart from the rest of the palette. Kirby and Metroid II were the first games I bought for the Game Boy in 1992, and I'm fine with the original look, like the white Kirby pictured on the label.

Great episode bro. I always enjoyed Kirby's Dream Land but the series has always been on the easy side. I recently got Kirby's Star Allies and it also suffers from being to easy. It is however great for beginning gamers or casual gamers who don't play that often. keep up the great work my friend.

I tend to agree, it often takes way too long to get to the "good stuff" in Kirby games.

Looking back, I am starting to realize how polished Kirby's Dreamland is. Yea, it's simple but I feel like that helps with it's appeal. Especially with the post game rewards you get for the people who couldn't get enough of the game or for ones who wanted more of a challenge.

When Satoru Iwata died, I finally played through the first 2 Kirby games. I really like how they added extras for this who want a bit more challenge. Super Mario Land did the same thing, but I wish they would have let us play hard mode by the same button combination thingy. I played The Adventures of LOLO prior to this, and it felt weird having LOLO and Lala as enemies. Check the trilogy on the NES out if you haven't. I love those games. Anyways, Great video! Always quality stuff.

That's funny, last week was Link's Awakening(my favorite GB title) and today is Kirby Dreamland, another game I held in high position in my gamer's heart since more than 20 years ago, when I used to play it as a kid ! ♥ Btw, the remake of Link's Awaking on Switch looks great(to me at least) !
@johnbakasmoothhotchocolate5 жыл бұрын
CharloKolms it does to me as well. It sort has the same design style that A Link Between Worlds on the 3DS has, but except much richer depth and texture. I finally got a chance to play Link's Awakening on the 3DS virtual console and its a really great game and I can't to play its remake counterpart on the Switch. My name is John by the way. It's nice to meet u.

I haven't played this game in 20 years but if I booted it up now, I would have probably beaten it in less time than the length of this review.😜 I remember clearly when I got this game for my birthday in 94. I wanted this game so bad - the overall art design of the Kirby series is really appealing to children imo

for some reason I don't seem to remember the config mode even though I have beaten this game multiple times on extra mode. Perhaps it was because I was a lot younger the time and just hated reading. although honestly I'm still not much of a reader. My vocabulary superb and I can read the words fine I just don't like to read.

Technically the game has 10 worlds. After you beat the game once you unlock the ex mode which has harder enemies and bosses. They are basically more difficult versions of the previous 5 worlds. Unlike most Kirby games where EX bosses are different in appearance here they are largely the same in design but their fighting patterns are different. The real final boss if I remember is a jerk. He is very fast and very unpredictable and has a crud ton of health.
