The wisdom of Smart starting this conference off by showing love to the Orange Bowl committee and the city that hosted the game is starting to dawn on me today. He made sure his ire was directed to only one place: The committee. Very Smart.

Kirby’s comments about the NCAA are spot on. There are some bowl games this year that are a complete farce because of the timing of the portal. Not fair to the two teams and the fan bases, because the games are not a true representation of the teams that played in the regular season.
@markrodrigue69139 ай бұрын
Exactly... because the Georgia/ Florida game was a flop.. almost like why play when tickets for the game was from hundreds to thousands of dollars.... and yet main players didn't play .. that makes the match up a farce and waste of time

I think you missed the point he was trying to make. Kirby was talking about how Florida states entire team was decimated, and how Georgia played against a team of Florida State practice squad members tonight. He was not talking about how Georgia deserved to be in the playoff. He was talking about how college football needs to fix this transfer portal issue Along with their selection process.

The issue with the game and the current state of college football is with the lack of structure around who does what, when and how. There is no way in hell players should have the right to not play in a game and abandon their teammates. FSU was without 15-20 players who played meaningful minutes in prior game. It makes no sense how it is okay to play games 1-12 but you get to decide if you want to play in game 13. It has nothing to do with fear of injury because why play the other games if you are fearful of being hurt before the draft. Also, I don’t see how teammates can turn their backs on their brothers “FSU”.

The rest of you ignorants have no idea what FSU’s culture is about. WE FOLLOW THE RULES… Alabama lost AND Georgia lost. FSU DID NOT. What part of this don’t you fools understand? Kirby gets it. HE knows this was a shit win for Georgia. Can’t wrap a piece of shit in bows. As for players opting out. Why should ESPN earn more money from the con they already pulled on the Seminoles. If there was ever a way to cap off what could be considered a disappointing season this was it. Ga set the record for margin of victory against TCU last year in the national championship game. They set the new record against an FSU team that didn't care to compete! Not on Ga! All we can do is show up ready to play! FSU had a golden opportunity to throw dirt in the face of the playoff committee and instead completely confirmed their decision. FSU is NOT one of the 4 best teams in the country because they don't even have the team unity to accept the challenge. Instead, enough of their players showed complete disdain for the sanctity of college football to turn what could have been one of the best matchups of the year into a record setting margin of victory by Georgia! Don't give me your excuses about players opting out! Georgia had ZERO opt outs and only missed a couple of injured players! What a pitiful display of selfishness!!!

Smart is a class act, just like Norvell. As an FSU fan I’m disappointed that so many of ours players bailed on the bowl game. Unfortunately that’s life. The fsu players need to grow up. Your team got killed. Destroyed. A few players would not have made the difference in the win. Obviously Ga was a much better team than fsu and they didn’t get in playoff. They didn’t cry and stay home. You can’t help that FSU has a weak league. To Bulldawg Nation y’all are welcome for the training Kirby got in Tuscaloosa under Nick and for this upcoming continued run y’all are gonna enjoy. Nick will retire in the next few years for certain of not this year and Kirby still has at least 20-25 years left to roll on and he’s already got 2 championship rings. Coach, your team was beaten fairly and squarely for your own conference championship. All your team did tonight was prove that FSU had no business in the final four teams in the CFP. If your team and FSU had been allowed in, which was what everyone was clamoring for, the result would have been the same had you played each other at that juncture. The lesson is this - the SEC is THE most prolific conference in CF. This will be shown again on next Monday, and then in the National Championship game. Does CF dismantle or weaken one conference in order to make it "fair" for the others? Hardly. When the 12-team playoff champion is decided next year, the SEC will still be at the forefront.

Not true. FSU wouldn’t have the 30+ opt outs if they knew they had a chance to play for the ring.

@@dyoung462 Maybe, but this was a tragedy for college football. Even more sad that UGA choked on history against Bama. But let’s get real. UGA isn’t Bama. Historically, UGA isn’t even the #2 program in the SEC, that belongs to UF.

@@RoscoPColtrane17actually, you’re completely wrong. You have an old school name, but either you’re young or you just don’t know your SEC history very well. Outside of about two decades in the 90s and early 2000s Florida has been a very average football program. Traditionally they have been much closer to what they are now than what they were in the 90s. Georgia has the second most wins of any SEC school and has the second most SEC championships. Both trailing Alabama. Do some research next time.

Florida State didn't go undefeated for no reason. They played every game. They had a total of twenty-nine players who were not even in the game. Are you saying stuff that they don't belong in the college championship? 🤔 You seriously do not see the whole thing about college football in the power five level.

So right. I am not a GA fan, per se, but I have huge respect for this team and staff. Made FSU look even more like a bunch of cry baby punks. Shame on the FSU coaching staff. Congratulations to GA. Such a great team.

Playoffs should have 8 teams not 4. Also opting out for the NFL draft is one thing, we get it. But opting out to transfer to another school is BS. They should be forced to play as part of the transfer process.

The playoff committee should have had 5 playoff spots as there are 5 power 5 conferences.

1. NCAA has no definition for "Power 5", it does not exist anywhere in any NCAA document;it's a media created team. 2. if it did exist, how bad does your average team ranking have to be before you'd lose the designation 3. The Pac12 no longer exists ... it only has two teams. 4. The math does not work ... has to be a multiple of 2 5. There concept of a Power 5" in the year 2023 is a fantasy, it should be relegated to a "historical" term.... hasn't been a Power 5 in almost 2 decades. For the most part of those 2 decades, it's been a Power 2.5 ... with the 2 being comprised of the SEC and Big 10 ... and the .5 coming from PAC12 or Big 12 being relevant in any given year. Over the last 17 years .... The SEC was won 13 title games The SEC has put 19 teams in the title game The SEC has won the NFL draft 17 years in a row ... will be 18 in a few months. Unconvinced ? The following is the 2023 Average Opponent Rankings (AOR) for each conference" Big10 60.36 ACC 56.00 PAC12 55.58 Big12 35.85 SEC 25.07 So looking at those numbers ... if we are going to give the 1st bunch of 3 the "Power" label, given the huge separation in average rankings, we have no choice to put the "SuperPower" label on the other 2. Loved Kirby's comments, well most of them... they were disappointed for not making the CFP, they made their case, but they accepted the committee's decision, they showed respect for the NCAA rules and, unlike FSU, they showed up. The one thing I can't agree with Kirby on is his answer to the CFP scores against FSU and TCU ... yes, teams do get better as the season goes on (the Alabama team that played the 1st 6 games would have no chance against Georgia) but the main reason they won is that both teams played a weak schedule. TCU, FSU, Cincy ... they never belonged in the CFP but they wind up getting in because "they won a conference championship". But not all conferenced are created equal ... FSU's undefeated season came as a member for a weak conference .... To get an AOR of 25 (SEC) for every team ranked 40 that you play, you need to play a team ranked 10 to get a 25 average. To get an AOR of 56 (SEC) for every team ranked 40 that you play, you need to play a team ranked 72 to get a 56 average
