One very important point about these shoes in the Classic line is that they are wider than what one finds in G&G's standard range. They call it EX fitting, in between E and F width (E being standard and F being wide).

This is correct! Great point and sorry I left it out of the review! Thank you for adding. Slightly more “American” fit, to be honest. And more forgiving than the standard GG last.

@@kirbyallison No problem! By the way, out of curiosity, the box of my semi-brogues states an F-width, not EX. Not sure it still is (I bought mine early on), but the sizing has been confirmed to be between E and F. This will of course vary from person to person, but despite additional volume in the toe box area, I don't find the heel to be loose as a typical F would likely be. So the last has definitely a good shape to it. All in all, I think these are great shoes!

These shoes come in an EX width (in between E & F). When I called in to their New York store, the gentleman over the phone steered me away from the Bader’s because of their width and said they wouldn’t fit me properly.

Kirby, I'm 65 yrs old and my joints no longer tolerate leather soles that's why I use rubber soles with memory foam inserts. Please create a review for "ole fart" dress shoes, that's worth a challenge.

goodyearwelted shoes also molts to your feet. I would reccomend bespoke shoes if you have the money. i am not old but i had a back surgery, and since i wear quality shoes my back and feet don't hurt anymore

These shoes are on loan to us... and often they are not provided in my size. Fit is so personal, I’m not sure how relevant it would be anyway.

@@kirbyallison of course, no one expects you to buy all these shoes! But given your name and influence, surely you can ask for your size to put on with an outfit or two. I think a shoe on foot completely changes the perception of it and one can get a better idea of the last and proportions.

Ready made? Yes absolutely. Bespoke? Not in my opinion. The cost difference between the two is far too great and the fit is not better enough with the bespoke. Bespoke shoes are really for someone who enjoys going through the process and having something made specifically for him. There is a difference between the finished products of the ready made and the bespoke but it really isn't all that substantial, certainly nowhere near enough to justify the difference in cost.
