I Was Introducing My Son The World Of Cufflinks And The Importance And Why Men Should Wear Them. Out Of All The Videos I Came To Your Video Secondly And Began Listening To Your Explanations And How And Why You Wear Cufflinks And Etc...I Had No Knowledge Of You And Your Family And Where You Were From Until You Stated It. I Am From Houston ,Texas And Sold Men Suits In The Galleria And Worked At Some Of The Best Retail Stores. Neiman Marcus ,Lord N Taylor And Sakowitz In The Galleria In The 70's . I Have Two Sons And They Love Dressing And Always Respect My Expertise When Helping Them Dress In Their Best Attire . One Son Stated ( I Do Not Like Cufflinks ) So I've Been On This Cufflink Buying Rage And Explaining To Him It's A Must And Men Still Wear Cufflinks . I Also Love Vintage Jewlery. All Cufflinks From The Past Have A History. I Just Purchased A Pair Of Vintage Horse And Carraige Cufflinks Which Are Beautiful And A Set Of Cameo Cufflinks From The 1900's So Exquisitely Carved. I Will Continue To Follow You And Loved The Video And I Do Remember The Car Dealership Your Dad Had In Houston. So Ironic I Chosed Your Channel To Watch . I Will Definitely Show Both My Sons Your Video. Thank You And Have A Happy Father's Day !!

Kirby! Thank you for making these great videos. I'm a fan from Korea and I enjoy your videos very much. Just keep in mind someone hours away keenly awaits your next video every time you post a new episode! I introduced your channel to one of my friends and he's totally hooked too. In Korea, mediocre shoe shines are quite cheap and people don't seem to appreciate well-made shoes as much. Also, Korean men are extremely trend-obsessed--even with gentlemen's wear. Your videos are a breath of fresh air for me. Keep up the wonderful work. I really appreciate it. Thanks!

Thanks, Taeh! That is surprising about Korea. Not far away in Singapore, classic menswear is on fire! Keep up the good work! Glad we can try to do our part! Let me know if you have any suggestions for future videos!

What's your take on Wood Bows and Ties? Also your thoughts on broaches and pins to jazz up meanwear? Maybe a video about your thoughts.

Thanks for sharing! Love hearing the background on the cuff links and really shows an appreciation for the small details. One issue I always struggle with as you pointed out is finding the right occasion to wear French cuffs. Working in banking I typically do barrel cuffs but want to expand that. Thanks for sharing!
@kirbyallison

For sure - the barrel cuff is much more common here in the United States and is primarily what I wear.

Kirby, Do you still offer the Jade cufflinks in the flower motif? Thanks
@DovidM

A common problem with chain cufflinks is the length of the chain. This results in a floppy cuff. You can get a link removed from the chain to get a neater cuff. Jewelers will often agree to do this for you.

Kirby, will you please do a quick video about shoetree? How it shall fit and which type you recommend? On some of the videos, such is mentioned but please do a comprehensive one. There are so many different designs and I am confused!

My brother got me some wonderful cufflinks for Christmas. They have the symbol of the galactic empire from star wars on them. They're simple and elegant but other star wars fans can recognize them and we can have an easy way to start a conversation. My wife got me beautiful cufflinks for our wedding and I wear both with great joy.

Kirby, do you own any antique men's stickpins? I have a collection of 15 which are from sterling silver to 18k gold with diamonds and sapphires. They're all over 100 years old, from when men wore them with a tie and vest. I'll wear them on a tie or on the lapel of a suit or tuxedo for formal occasions.

I have a bunch of vintage cufflinks for sale on eBay right now. I may have a gold mine of cufflinks, but I have no idea about cufflinks. Christian Dior, Swank, etc....could you help me determine if they are valuable. I inherited them and need some help with them.

I've never seen silk knot cuff links before. Are they just stretched through?
@kirbyallison
@kirbyallison 6 жыл бұрын
Yes. You just push them through the button holes. They can be a little trickier than traditional cufflinks, but not impossible, and they are available in a ton of colors.

Here is a question. Is it possible to be formal without a collar? Or is this heresy?
@kirbyallison
@kirbyallison 6 жыл бұрын
Without cufflinks? Sure - you can dress formally without cufflinks, but cufflinks do look great and increase the level of formality over and above no cufflinks. A white dress french cuff dress shirt with beautiful cufflinks... 😍
@christopherblack8301
@christopherblack8301 6 жыл бұрын
No, I meant collars. It was a question completely from left field. I've heard of collarless dress shirts, but I've never seen them worn. I'd like some ways to be formal, but to be divergent from tradition.
@jakobgoodwin9742

Christopher Black you really can’t wear a tie or any neckwear with a collarless shirt. And generally they don’t allow for cuff links. If you want to stand out and be stylish, maybe change up some accessory. Different shirts, shoelaces, socks, suspenders, cuff links, ties and pocket squares all change up the look. I don’t think the collarless shirt is the way to go for changing up the look

My Mom gave my Dad gold cufflinks from Tiffany's with his initials when they got married. When my father retired, he gave them to me as I have his name. He wanted me to be able to use them in my working career (I was moving the Washington DC to work in government). People comment on the cufflinks and I've enjoyed telling people the story about the cufflinks and how my parents met. My dad passed away last year and I wore those cuff links to his funeral. My Mom was very happy to see me in those cufflinks. I'm not sure who I will give these cufflinks to since I don't have a son or nephew with my initials.

What a fantastic story! Thank you for sharing. How incredible. I'm sure your father smiles every time you wear them -- as I am reminded of my grandfather every time I am wearing his cufflinks. These small heirlooms are to be cherished. I'm sure that one day you might even have the opportunity to pass them down to your son!

Good advice from the Reverend! Absolutely true. The cheap silk knots we sell are perfectly suitable. And there is a huge market for pre-owned ("vintage") cufflinks on eBay. Just be careful about paying $$ for anything that is supposed to made from gold or contains semi-precious stones.
