Jana Gana Mana, though recent, it represent the openess culture of discussing relevant issues of today without inhibitions, call a spade a spade kind. It's amalgamation of years of true content and closer to life portrait making culture, cornerstone of malayalam movie. Also would suggest some jump between old and recent would be a great flavour too. Avoiding monotonous nature of the show

AK Lohitadas has said in an interview that the movie Kireedam is inspired by a true incident. A carpenter, newly arrived in a village, enters the village toddy(wine made from coconut tree) shop for a drink and beats up one of the thugs who happens to be there. But later he realized that the person he had beaten was the main goon of that village. Carpenter leaves the country that very night, foreseeing the problems that may arise in the future. But the film presents the problems he might face if he stays there

80's and 90's was the golden era of malayalam cinema. Directors like Bharathan, Padmarajan, K S George, Sethumadhavan, I V Sasi, Mohan, P N Menon, Joshi then Fazil, Sathyan Anthikkad, Srreenivasan, Priyadarsan, etc.. Script writers like Lohidadas, John paul, Padmarajan, T Damodharan and others.... Forgot to mention about the great scriptwriter of India, rhe one and only M T Vasudevan Nair.

This movie was so awesome. The climax scene shows why mohanlal sir is considered among the greatest actors in the world. His hands were shivering while holding the knife after he realized that his dream to become cop has been shattered, now he's also a criminal. The climax scene was acting in peak.. The hindi Remake Gardish also stands out

I think Mohanlal, similar to Fahad Fazil, is exceptional at expressing emotions through his eyes. A prime example of this is his performance in Kireedam. You can clearly see his amazing talent in movies like Thanmathra, Iruvar, Vanaprastham, Sadayam, and Chenkol (the sequel to Kireedam).

90s Malayalam movies were best known for comedies (many of which were remade into Hindi by Priyadarshan), not tragedies. The greatest Malayalam comedy is Sandesham (1992), imo the sharpest political satire in Indian cinema. Watch Sandesham.

One of the lead actors in Sandesham, Sreenivasan, is in my opinion amongst the top 5 film makers in India and definitely the greatest in malayalam along with the likes of Adoor ,KG George and MT Vasudevan nair. He is a decent actor but probably the best writer malayalam has produced and great director too. I would definitely check out Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala which he directed about a man who seeks to escape reality. Cheers

biggest reason for Mammootty’s animosity towards me is that I have said Mohanlal is a good actor. I was on the jury of the national film awards. I was part of the jury when Mammootty and Mohanlal emerged in the final round for Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Kireedam respectively. K G George and I were on different committees. Of the four committees, three including mine adjudged Mohanlal as the best actor. Only the committee headed by George backed Mammootty. He seemed to have given his word to Mammootty. I was of the view that the majority decision should prevail. But George had good links with filmmakers from the country’s north and east. A party was held, and six members changed their minds. The next day, when voting was held, Mammootty got 11 votes and Mohanlal five. Basu Bhattacharya and I strongly argued for Mohanlal. I demanded that a special jury award be given to Mohanlal. I have no animosity towards Mammootty or any special affection towards Mohanlal. When I was a jury member for the third time, Bharatham was being considered and Adoor Gopalakrishnan was the jury chairman. He belonged to the Mammootty group (laughs out loudly). I supported Mohanlal. Soumitra Chatterjee was a close competitor. I turned it around this time. Mohanlal was adjudged best actor and Soumitra received a special jury mention. This increased Mammootty’s hostility towards me. But Mohanlal is the reason why I lost my house. Had I been revengeful, I would not have given him the award. That shows my character. Thats year award was going to mohanlal but mammootty who is so close to main jury loot from his Said by jury member Sreekumaran thampi in an press interview He is one of the first director who gave mammootty a protagonist role

Butterfly effect is not a valid comparison as that has to do with the consequences of small perturbation in first order chaotic systems. This is more of a consequences to your action exacerbated by an unforgiving society. The reaction from society to a small incident creates Sethu the criminal. A society which punishes disproportionally and judges fast. Its sad but I am pretty sure we have seen this happen to a lot of people in Indian society.
