Ive recently gotten into Automobilista 2 in VR, with. Bigscreen Beyond (4090) the game looks and runs amazing at 3700x3700 75 Hz mix of Med and High settings, incredibly sharp, next to zero aliasing shimmering with the super-sampling and the handling model and feedback is superb. I came from ACC and some GT7 in PSVR2 on the side, AMS2 is totally underrated, runs and looks amazing.

AC EVO roadmap says we will get a small content drop of another 2 cars, new special events and Fuji Speedway. Then the next (main) EA stage will include (among other things) "VR Support - Step 2". So they already knew it needed improving, and already had plans to do so. If someone thinks that the VR is bad in this game, they should go and play BeamNG in VR lol

BeamNG runs great in VR for me. ACEvo on the other hand is, at the moment atleast, unplayable. I play with bigscreen beyond - might also need to lower the resolution and try ACEvo again.

you can't even compare beamng to this. Beamng runs easily in vr compared to ace. this is essentially unplayable for 90% of pc gamers because of the system requirements. yes I know there will be a subsequent patch, but there's a long way to go. for context I get better performance on ac in VR (4k native res), compared to ac EVO in 2d 1080p

@@M3RTZ I'll admit it took me a while but I did get BeamNG to a decent consistent FPS in VR. Although with my old GPU (a rx 5700 XT) it was a struggle. The 7900 XTX made a big difference, as expected. After another day of almost insanity tweaking EVO, there really is nothing that can bring it to a suitable standard without the devs patching it.

Running VR at sub 60, with all setting low is not a good sign of a VR game. The level of optimisation needed is going to be very high. Not sure if the channel creator was part of the PC1 alpha. As there is an example of a good VR baseline that is still paying of in AMS2. When it comes to VR, Reiza can sleep well!

if you run steamVR, you can record the steamvr preview, you can set it fullscreen and it automatically merges left and right lense for 16:9 resolution

I was waiting for ACE for what feels like years! I only play in VR with a Meta 3. From the start of my sim racing journey I’ve mostly played in ACC an AC. But the closer the early access the less exited I got. I ended up buying iRacing with the Black Friday sale, the graphics aren’t terrible with my current set up. I’m getting about 80-90 frames per second. But what really won me over as the quality of racers on that platform. I decided to buy more tracks on iRacing instead of the early access. From all the videos I’ve seen of people playing the early access I think I made a great decision. I’m going to wait for the full release, but the more I play iRacing, the harder it to get away from it.

I'm sure the devs will get this running much better, because in AC1, even with all of the extra's shader patch provides, I'm able to push 90 to 120fps in VR at mostly max settings, with steam VR set to 500% resolution per eye (4612 x 4936). My system is i7-14700k, 4080 Super, 96GB ram, 6tb SSD. EVO on the other hand, dependant on track/conditions, I get 32 to 48 FPS at low settings in VR, and can't push the steam resolution above 200% per eye (2916 x 3120) without the game/steam crashing . It's not because the graphics are overwhelmingly better in EVO, in fact from what I can see, the main difference is a bit of post processing and 3d animated spectators. AC1 actually looks much better and has more geometry with the content manager and shader patch (double the amount to grass geometry for example). I think it's just because the EVO devs have yet to implement all of the performance enhancing options that shader patch provides to AC1 (upscaling, single eye rendering, Nvidia VRSS, and all those fancy things).

If ACE gains anything like ACC does from going with AMD's X3D chips, then this is definitely not the world's fastest PC as that would require an AMD 9800X3D CPU. In terms of Intel, what CPU is being used here? All that's stated is "top-of-the-range Intel CPU". For the fastest Intel gaming CPU, you'd have to have a 14900K/KS (or equally good binned 13900K/KS) and hopefully at an all-P-core overclock of at least 5.9 GHz and no power nor temp throttling (while gaming). You'd also need some DDR5 A-die RAM at around 8000-8200 (Gear 2) or M-die at around 8400-8600 (G2) along with fully tuned timings (primaries, secondaries, tertiaries, etc.). You'd need a 2-DIMM motherboard (eg. Asus Z790 Apex Encore) in order to stably reach those memory speeds. For the RTX 4090, you'd have to have the core overclocked, and staying consistently at or above, 3000 MHz and with the memory overclocked by at least +12,000.

I discovered something ... the Average FPS and smoothness in VR looking the car from any OUTSIDE views it's a lot better than INSIDE the car (first person) ... So, it seems that the main problem it's the low optimization inside the cockpit of the cars, may be TOO MUCH details (Polys) and the light changes over all that details send the FPS to the floor with any GPU (mine it's a 4090)

VR is way more power hungry then most people think so my hopes are not up too high. I'm afraid we will have to wait for 5080 or 5090 cards to have high enough fps in VR.

I was one of the horror stories, but I figured something out yesterday night: Are you running SteamVR as your OpenXR runtime, or are you running Pimax as your OpenXR runtime? Here is why I am asking it: I run Pimax as OpenXR. And I think 99% of the people who have this issue have something similar happening to them. When you run iRacing, and you leave SteamVR running you get a sub 1fps mess. You have to quit Steam. I noticed, that when I start this game - even though it is not SteamVR (it is openXR) it somehow starts SteamVR. So essentially you are running in OpenXR, but SteamVR is started and is causing the exact same issue you would get in iRacing. So a solution I figured is to set a custom setting in Pimax for the game, and launch the game from there. That way Steam doesn't insist on starting SteamVR and you get an acceptable framerate. I still have to play with detail/resolution/upscale, but I was able to do a couple of laps on Laguna Seca after spending hours trying to figure what was happening. I just submited this to Steam to see if it helps some people.

Virtual Desktop using OpenXR and ASW giving me a fairly consistant 90fps in AC EVO. Pico 4 over ethernet with 5800X3D and RTX 3080ti, gpu usage hovering around 75%. I do get the 1 to 2 second freezes about once every 2 or 3 laps, without ASW i get 60 to 75fps with horrible frame timing.

It takes the previous frame and adjusts your perspective to where you are now without having to draw a whole new frame. Not as smooth as native 90fps but a huge improvement on the 45fps the GPU is now having to render.

Similar story on my side. Also with PCL, moved down the graphics down quite a bit to 60% because I had like 5 fps at full res. It's a bit stuttery and glitchy and the menu's act strange, especially the showroom had some weird textures and aliasing effect. I found no way to put a VR position reset button, and moving around the cockpit with arrows and pg up/down also was not great, HUD acting weird and suddenly the esc menu was floating in a weird spot. Right mirror didn't work at all. However the driving was actually quite ok with these settings, about 60fps and reasonably steady.

I have a 4080 super, using virtual desktop which I have set at ultra resolution and a quest 3. I was getting 75 - 90 FPS There's a video on my channel if you would like to see it, I've watched a bunch of 4090 VR videos struggling, mostly with a pimax. I'm wondering whether it's running better on quest 3 because of the high resolution on the pimax? Or could it be virtual desktop? My races ran really well for early access, it was a bit shimmery and washed out. On the whole it was clear enough for me to enjoy it and everything is easy to navigate. I think you need to be expecting close to 90 FPS on VR, the 60 you were getting is too low. Be good to see you rescue your resolution to achieve 90 and if you have a quest 3, a comparison would be good.

hi. I tried to stream Ac Evo in VR (rtx4090/7800x3D). But I have a problem. If I launch the game from the Pimax Play app, in the streaming screen I have two windows side by side (and not the full screen image). If I launch the game from Steam or Simhub instead, the streaming is full screen BUT I don't have the game image in the Crystal Light. How did you manage to have the image in the viewer and the full screen screen in the streaming?

So, GM was talking about framegen the other day. And that it'd be alright for a racesim?! I use framegen in flight simulator, and that can handle like 10ms of latency. I wouldn't even want it in my trucksim though, or anywhere near anything fast paced. Dunno what they put in his tea... I'm not liking this whole path where raw raster performance and gameside optimization are apparantly sidelined now for quick 'n dirty nvidia technologies that they use in an attempt to corner the market. AC evo is a fantastic example of why optimization is so important. Looking ahead at future hardware is not the solution, you'd need twice the raw compute power to run this at refresh on even an entry level VR headset. I can get 40 frames steady on my old rift S, conpare that to ams2 maxed out and easily doing 80fps. So I'm mostly on monitor(wish they'd release titles with headtracking working out of the box like they did years ago). Apart from the cluncky UI I'm liking the core of what's there. Car handling, and even the ffb are great imo even if it doesn't feel overly connected. That'll dial in nicely over time. I think Kunos would have done themselves an enormous favor had they just overemphasized the whole EA thing. Instead we got clout, hype and wishful thinking which inevitably left a lot of folks a bit deflated.

Now the fastest cpu is the 9800X3d and over 2 weeks probably the 9950x3d when its out. Productivity vise ya intel should win if you have the fastest intelchip for consumer the i9 14900KS. I have Crucial T705 2TB PCIe Gen5 (14.500MB/s) drives and CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 96GB (2x48GB) 6000MHz CL30 on a Asus proart x670e. Ram could be faster but need the ammoutn for some specific usecase and 6000MHz is the sweespot anyway for overclocking. My 7800x3d runs at 5.26ghz and now switching to 9950x3d.

my work pc btw is intel with a quado so i get that the intel is better in pure performance, but its just not for gaming.
