Answering your questions about spectators/grandstands, as I said at the end of the previous video it was interesting to see how each game depicted a time trial scenario, giving a different "feel" as you drive around the track. This is a race to race comparison, and again there are very interesting artistic and design choices that give a different atmosphere when driving the track (including some weird ones)

I’m positive those flood lights are to mark turns so that they can prevent huge pileups in multiplayer. We know it doesn’t work that way but still, I think that’s the reason for it. I've always thought that FM made you feel like the races were real crowd populated spaces. Doing a race somewhere like Fuji in GT7 it feels cold, flat and sterile. Watkins glen is one that's better in GT7 than most but i think FM just makes you feel like you're racing in a race weekend event. GT7 too often feels like you're in lockdown places with hardly any crowds or trackside vans, burger bars , bbq's etc
@JaySamurai799 ай бұрын

Gran turismo replicates the crowds on race days more accurately than forza, forza goes for the same vibe that arcade racers like Grid go for, most of the stuff you see trackside is not there for the real races, you can compare with real footage and see, even the 24 hours of nordschleife are more accurately replicated in gt7, yes there are people with campervans and BBQs but there are no lazer/neon parties trackside.

Interesting, but I don't care for trackside stuff that much. And running a motion and tactile feedback rig I can tell, the Forza track has all the surface details of iRacing or even more, but you won't really feel it in the FFB. In my GS-5 I was never shaken so much on the Nordschleife like in Forza while the FFB only communicates a tiny dampened fraction of the bumps. For me it's better that way so I get different feedback like you get in a real car. In iRacing motion doesn't add anything other than an amplifier to the lackluster FFB, and seat of pants effects still completely missing while in Forza I feel what's going on.

If you have a good wheel and pedal controller set and a copy of GT7, honestly you could teach someone how to drive, while also getting tons of info about the history of cars and racing. Whereas FM is what happens when you've graduated and just want to pick up a car, mess around with the tuning a bit, and just drive and race. If you have the means to play both, do it. Sometimes, it's nice to have a GT7 technical challenge, but sometimes it's great to just pick up FM and go.

I dont really have a preference either way with crowd and object detail is outside the track. Both look great and its clear they each have a creative difference. I care most about making sure the actual track itself is accurate which both have done very well. You can tell that they've used track scans from different points in time, as the graffiti is different on the track. One thing I did notice even more so watching this video than when playing(as I am often very focused on driving) is a serious critique I have had with both GT7 and Forza. GT7s issue being the shadows cast off the cars when headlights or other light sources hit them at night from behind. It looks horrible and ruins the immersion with the giant blobs cast above the cars. It really is the only real issue I have with GT7. For a game that does so well with lighting and reflections at all other times of day without even using ray tracing, it really misses the mark with the casted shadows at night. My issue with Forza remains the lackluster car detail. Exterior car details are hit or miss. Some cars look like they actually have a lot of detail put into them and when lighting and reflections hit the car, they look photo realistic, while other cars look like they were rushed and half ass rendered to be put into the game, looking cartoony or straight up unrealistic. Interior detail is lacking as well and is more noticeable in some cars than others. Interiors are low resolution and look like they were simply reused from older Forza titles.

I really appreciate the effort that's been put into this video, I really enjoyed watching it. But I'm gonna go out there and say this: if you have the mental capacity to focus on the track surroundings and to blink at your girlfriend sitting in the crowd while racing, ... there's still room to improve your lap times, let's put it that way 😇

I think it is pretty evident through this track and many other tracks that Gran Turismo really tries to nail down the accuracy of the placement of things. But I think I can speak for most people when I say that I don’t really know what the Tree landscape looks like around curve 20 in the Norberg ring or any other track. I want the track to be accurate but I do not care if they add a few things to make it look a little more interesting. Give me that instead of something that looks dull. If I wanted real life in everything I just stick with real life instead of playing video games.

I’m just glad it’s here. I’m loving it ❤❤❤ Hopefully the GT4RS front bumper will be fixed in Motorsport. As it WAS in Horizon 5 it was wrongly modeled as a GT4 bumper NOT an RS. A minor error but you’d think they’d update the model before releasing it in Motorsport.😅 I’m sure it’ll be fixed as it was so in Horizon 5. It’s an error with the canards if that’s the right term. More importantly I do enjoy the lighting in Forza as I’m old and my eyes aren’t as eagle eyed as they were 😂

Forza dropped the ball beyond words. Been a Forza guy since the OG and I just don't understand what happened....having been to many night series races myself, forza is waaaaaay to over lit, but GT7 is way too lite on spectators.

@zildjianzz9 ай бұрын
@@richpoor146 the physics are great...however in terms of fidelity/environments/ in car detail etc it fails. You can't say "built from then ground up" and deliver this. ACC cars look insanely better than FMs and the physics...wow. FM is much grander in design which i acknowledge. I play on Series X
@richpoor1469 ай бұрын
@@scottd7222 how can you say that when you feel like you’re sledding in gt7 compared to forza or acc? Every car in gt7 comes off the line as if it has the engine of a prius. Also , unless you have vr the cockpit cam is nearly motionless. Even if you put on the settings to increase the motion it just a roll that does not replicate the movement you would see going over bumps visually. The only way you can achieve oversteer in gt7 is going into a curve with too much break. The throttle is impotent at best.

You need to consider who developed the game. Forza is US centric. Hollywood style. Everything a little too much over the top to make it even more spectacular. Racing is a big event like an amusement park with lights and barbecue and party. This is exactly what they apply to a German track. Which for sure doesn't match reality but is matching the style of the game. Gt7 is Japanese. Understatemant culture. If you go to a motorsport event, then that's what you want to see and nothing else. Germans are somewhere in the middle. If you look at the culture of the development studios, you know why the games are like they are. Why forza looks amazing just to look amazing and why GT7 tends to less is more philosophy.

So you compare a gaming rig against PS5, which is the best of each game, so now you need to compare the Xbox One version against PS4. Oh wait... you can't. The real comparison may be possible when PlayStation gets a 'dedicated' console version at the current gen level. Remember that PD had to make GT7 cross platform, so may have had to make some hard choices that Turn10 would not have had to entertain. I suppose you could try Xbox Series S vs PS4, but that isn't really an apples to apples comparison either.
