Especially for streetcars I also found it useful to do the body works and attach a wing for better aerodynamics, some cars feel much better after that!
@MJ_8682 жыл бұрын
This setup induces off-throttle understeer. You could also crank the acceleration sensitivity up to stabilize the car on power coming out of corners, and pull back most of the braking sensitivity so you get more turn in on corner entry. The initial torque slider amplifies these characteristics
@MJ_8682 жыл бұрын
@@johnm3907 for the r32 you want to set the front diff to minimum so it doesn't do much and adjust the rear on the low side for acceleration/deceleration so it doesn't cause understeer. But in general adjusting your dampers and other suspension and torque vectoring will have more effect in that car
@rootkhan32542 жыл бұрын
glad you mentioned this because i knew i wasnt crazy... pretty sure the higher acceleration sensitivity definitely gives you more grip out of the turn which is how i tune all of my rwd cars and which has made my setups successful. 5, 60, 40
@MJ_8682 жыл бұрын
@@johnm3907 yep you want to increase your acceleration sensitivity, and if that doesn't work, keep adding initial torque to it. But keep in mind you could also be having a dampening or other suspension related issue as well on corner exits. The high RPM turbo could also affect car balance when you're coming on power due to how sudden the car starts to make boost at high rpms, which is why I prefer the medium one
@chrisharvey109111 ай бұрын
Personally I find that tuning ALL the suspension first for proper cornering, your transmission second (especially the first three for mid corner handling and decent acceleration on exit) for good throttle response and top speed, and then FINALLY the Differential because your diff should be about fine tuning, kinda like sway bars.

Glad i found this video, such a simple change does make a big difference especially on the RWD cars i have tried so far. My reference was a lightly tuned Mazda Eunos roadster around Spa and was finding it would snap into oversteer far too easily and was very twitchy out of corners, even with only 180bhp, not like the real car would. Added the LSD and settings as suggested and its so much better and stable, already took 4 seconds off my previous best time.
@traviswaller71942 жыл бұрын
The reason any car goes from understeer (tight) to oversteer (loose) so suddenly is bc the front tires aren't gripping causing it to understeer to all of a sudden the front tires grip and at this point you haze a lot of steering input in the wheel and suddenly when the front tires grip is snaps the rear tires loose (oversteer). Remember always fix what the car does wrong first. If you fix the understeer or tight condition first then it will help the snappy loose or oversteer condition. Once you get the understeer fixed, try working on the oversteer if it's still a problem.
@edogap952 жыл бұрын
I feel like tweaking the LSD to maximum and minimum values is probably making the car the easiest to control but also taking some control away and making potential lap times slower. Probably good for people to make small adjustments until they find the right balance for them.

@@Kireth I don’t think they’re saying otherwise. It’s just that the stock wasn’t optimum but it’s unlikely that immediately tweaking LSD to max/min and only on rear will be optimum either. Hey Kireth, I’ve found this same progression in multiple cars in GT7. I feel as though the Porsches handle very poorly in this game too, they just cannot put power down very well, and oversteer like crazy, I’ve tried some fixes myself, but It’s been a lot of messing about with the LSD and natural frequency. I really appreciate the quick setup videos, they really help people like me who can’t test multiple setups and actually play and drive the game, because of the amount of time it takes to find a good tune on my own. :)

@james baker, another tip with the Porsches before you tune the diff is to take as much weight out of the car as you car with reductions then then add maximum ballast to the front of the car. I've tuned some 911 into some sweet handling cars using this technique.

I'm seeing a lot of people having problems when they jump from sport tyres to racing tyres. Upgrading the diff will help, but I cannot overstate the importance of upgrading your suspension so that you can tweak the spring resonance. On racing tyres you need a minimum resonance of 3khz.

@axewpew7439 Жыл бұрын
I know this is old but wanna ask. I don't know much about changing the suspension how does it all help?
@greg616211 ай бұрын
@@axewpew7439lowers the car and changes the center of gravity and the aerodynamics giving it less wind resistance. The spoiler size and angle determines the amount of downforce the wind hitting it produces. Generally you want that down force because it keeps the ass end of that car planted on the tarmac. Also when you lower a car you will have to stiffen up the suspension. The car is very close to the track and doesn’t have the same range of travel. Obviously you don’t want the car bottoming out so the suspension needs to be upgraded. Making the tires wider apart also gives most cars better handling. Every car is different… the biggest difference that you should use as a beginner is the type of car meaning where the engine sits. FR has the engine up front like Corvette, Mustang, Camaro etc. then you have a MR which means the engine is more in the middle… like most Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s etc. Also if the car is AWD like Nissan Skyline, Lamborghini Huracan (which is also an MR), Subaru etc. Once you get a baseline tune you’ll understand what to adjust to get it driving better right away. Then gradually you’ll tweak some other little things that you might give you major or minor improvements. Biggest thing is save your baseline tune! You don’t want to make adjustments and find out you messed up your baseline tune and can’t remember how to get it back. That way you can go crazy with experimenting with different builds and drastically changing different values to see what each part does. If your baseline is saved don’t be afraid to push a value to its max or drop it to it’s minimum. I’d say suspension and ride height are the first thing you should do. Experiment with different ride heights… going too low isn’t good either. You want to find the best balance that let’s YOU drive it the quickest. Adding the right parts and then balancing what you put on it. For every action there’s an equal or opposite reaction. So you’ll often gain something to lose something, just make sure the juice is worth the squeeze basically. It comes from a lot of trial and error because people drive differently and are comfortable with different tunes that make THEM faster. Make your own values, then experiment with different ppl’s tuning tips, so you can see what it changes overall… braking, turning and handling. Then why, how and what those different values change the overall vehicle feel compared to yours. Just give it a few laps with a new tune, sometimes it’s just different not bad. But pretty quickly you’ll know if something’s wrong for you usually

As much as I love this game, oversteer is basically death in the current physics model. Oversteer correction takes a phenomenal amount of lock and some luck, and it’s very rare to blend a slide back into traction, which often isn’t that difficult - or scary - in reality

You are correct that oversteer loses way too much time in GT7
@focussport2 жыл бұрын
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT everything you just said. Finding opposite lock shouldn't be impossible, and neither should holding a slide with lock and throttle. The snap threshold is small and punishing, when as you said, sliding, catching, and playing with oversteer is much easier in real life. It should be possible in "the real driving simulator". Even with fixes, an AWD car with 50:50 front to rear STILL oversteers on throttle like a rear drive... which is so frustrating and unrealistic. Hope they fix it.

@@FurBurger151 hes not talking about racing cars on slicks, hes talking about road cars and the ability to play with limits and drift. Race cars don't like being over the limit, but if they fix the physics for road cars, it should make some race cars like the Audi R8 drivable.

I don't know what they have modeled for the game, but in real life LSDs are primarily to prevent wheelspin at the inside wheel during cornering. Secondarily, they are used to tune the handling - a bit. The standard settings on GT are basically what a real car would have, so their modelling is not working correctly, probably in combination with other settings or driver aids like traction control. Basic rule of thumb is to run as little diff torque as will still prevent inside wheel spin-up, the higher you go, the harder the car is to rotate.

I don't usually race a lot, but i have done countless laps, specially at the Nordschleife, throughout my years playing these with a G29. I know how sim racing titles are supposed to handle, i know how a real car handles too since i also drive irl, and GT7 certainly isn't that close in terms of how easy it is to lose the rear. The only thing left for you to tell me is that PC2 is "too hard compared to real life" or "too oversteery", yet i have a lot more trouble in GT7 than in any other more realistic title. I bet people who say PC2 is too oversteery are the ones who always lift off to corner. GT3 cars are fine, except for the Audi R8 that grips well but you can't take a corner at less than 20% throotle atleast, but it's fine for me. The problem is with road cars. The physics are a big improvement from GT Sport, since you can actually feel the grip now and even comfort tires are usable, but it still needs some work on the throotle input part.

Funny, this open-under-acceleration locked-under-deceleration was the handling "fix" Papyrus came up with at launch for Grand Prix Legends' default setups. In that case the actual flaw was a tyre model that did not respond to load correctly, so it would lose grip when the load increased. That caused a lot of nonsensical spins. I suspect in this case, such an abominable diff setting is equally indicative of an underlying physics issue. I would say mixing of longitudinal and lateral slip forces, and excessive wheel inertia are to blame

YESSSS!!! i used an e46 m3 with only a tuned lsd and sport soft tires to spam the 550pp 80k credit tokyo highway race and the car handles beautifully with just those two mods. i used praianos settings for the lsd, did not adjust power or suspension.

This makes a lot of sense It really explains why mustang owners after leaving the car meet can't keep the car away from plowing into everyone on the sidewalk

It's more to do with inexperience and their propensity to have an IQ lower than the A/C temp setting in the car. The car isn't that hard to drive.

I just got on this game about a week ago and coming from GTA5 where I can just e break and whip around corners, this game is completely different. I still have to figure out the tuning setups but this video was a huge help. Going to tweak some cars this weekend. Thanks for the video 😎👍🏁

I've been messing around with the NSX Gr.3 car because I love the design (I actually did a Castrol NSX replica livery on Sport so it was great to see it actually put in) but I can't get it right yet I've never tried it to this extreme. Thanks for this, it randomly popped up even though I've been a subscriber for a couple of years now. (Google must be listening to my thoughts now 😮) Thanks for the great and useful content ✌️

Gotta say a 5-7-50 diff setting works for me on controller. It gets me a sligt ability to rotate the car a tiny bit on throttle but not snapping with no TC on. Then turn TC on 1 and boy my corner exiting speed i huge compared to stock diff setting. You really helped me a lot here. You are getting a like and subscribtion from me!

Yes I agree. Gt6 had a much more realistic sense of car balance. Much more predictable for power down on corner exits. How do they think the gt7 car physics are so realistic? The cars handle like a boat...apart from that, the graphics are truly awesome. Thanks for the tip.

@@Kireth GT is not the game for oversteer? 🤔 The top drivers in that daytona daily race where sliding the car around the corners in time trial.

The diff settings really help but the real problem is the compression and rebound settings. having the same values on front and back is causing most of the troubles
@MJ_8682 жыл бұрын
@Izumi Culture you're both correct, the suspension tuning is what causes that snap oversteer most of the time. The lsd modulates your throttle inputs, but that's useless if the suspension is oscillating uncontrollably in corners.

Not all tracks are the same and I recommend if you have a setting on your vehicle and you like it, just duplicate the sheet and turn it into a new one. What Kireth is showing in this video solves a lot of issues for cornering. What I do, I only adjust torque and acceleration to what I need and yes! I keep the breaking to the max to compression engine breaking.

Mate you are driving a mustang gt. This steering behavior is quite realistic from stock :P It is the typical car for killing crowds at car events. GT7 did a phenomenal job with making this car handling as realistic as it could be
