Is it safe to use that rear bar for the harnesses ? It seems to be only fixed by a very small bolt.

Hi all 😃 I have a few ideas of further improvements on this particular car, that might reduce its time with 5-8 seconds, I believe .. 1. it should have a KW suspension with more adjustability, and maybe sit a bit lower.. 2. Wider Rear wheels: 9.5” w 265 tires. 3. Rear - it needs more camber. 4. More weight saving, - should be possible to save about 25-30 kg. It’s current weight is 1.292 kg w 1/2 a tank. Will try and bring it down to 1.265kg. 5. It needs more aero! 👌 a big front splitter + front canards + rear spoiler or wing for reduced lift & more downforce. Any other suggestions, please comment 🤓 I hope we can talk Christian Gebhardt into doing another lap, maybe next year 🤗

-KW isn't better than Öhlins. Maybe more famous, but not better. -Wider tires on rear would slow the car down. They are smaller because the self-steering behaviour of the rear benefits from it. Wider tires would produce rolling & air resistance. -Kirfel are known for track-tools since the Megane III RS. They know what to do...

Warum testet ihr das stark modifzierte Tracktool eines Tuners oder bspw. auch den Dakar-911 im Supertest? Ich finde das etwas schade, es gibt doch so viele spannende "normale" Sportwagen und dadurch verwässert ihr das Supertest-Format doch letztendlich nur. Wäre doch passender gewesen, den im Vergleich zum normalen R.S. zu testen oder als dezidierten Nordschleifen-Tracktest (hattet ihr afaik ja mal für den Renn-Mini gemacht).

Au , als "normaler" RS kann das Auto nicht derart triumphieren . Ausserdem ist der Megane schonmal auf Rekordjagd auf dem Nürburgring gewesen , oder zumindest ein sehr ähnlicher Typ .

Can someone give some insight on the asymmetrical tyres layout with 265/35/R18 in the Front and 245/40/R18 in the Back? This was mostly seen in FWD taking part in drag races. Can this become a thing now with proper suspension set-up? Thanks for your time.

it depends where your weight sits + engine. In this case its front suspension. Similar case why MR/RR cars like Cayman/911 has wider rear tires.

The self-steering behaviour is improved, as the oversteering end helps a fwd car to virtual engance the lenght of the straights.

In the case of FWD sport type cars, by making the front wheels wider than the rear wheels, there is a setting method that makes it easier to generate cornering force. In the case of genuine cars from the manufacturer, the front wheels are rarely made wider, but the user can freely adjust them. I have been driving the same type of car as this in Japan, and I have tried the front wheels up to 295/30R80 and the rear wheels up to 235/40R80. This suspension is quite finished in the original condition, so it is not a problem at all even if you wear these tire sizes. Of course, it will be better if you replace it with a shock absorber and a spring with higher sports performance. It will be even better if you review the wheel alignment together.

I now looked exactly at the times in the Video it was BTG 07:23! He was at Gantry at 06:57 and then from bridge to the goal he needed 21 seconds = 07:18 but the Sport Auto is missing 200m so you have to add 5 seconds until the start of the timing = 07:23 final 😊

@@PeterLyksholm Sport Auto goes always fast but save. If you look 186 on the left corner on Flugplatz, the car can make approx 210km/h. With 265 direzza in the front you could go faster. A pro driver like Benny Leuchter would have done a 07:35

350 PS . Kosten des Testwagens knapp 76 000 € ich persönlich bezweifle das , ausser man hat die Lohnkosten für den Umbau nicht eingerechnet . Auch sind die Einbaukosten für den Short -Shifter nicht erwähnt . also irgendetwas stimmt mit den Preisen nicht . Ich weiß nur nicht genau was

Jein, dieses Ergebnis ist nur durch die gute Basis möglich, man tauscht die Alltagstauglichkeit inkonsequent gegen 11 Sekunden. Inkonsequent weil noch viel mehr hätte eingespart werden können, Dämmung, Kabelbaum, Navi, Klima. Dafür ist nicht einmal zusätzliche Sicherheit vorhanden (Käfig?) Und wäre es nicht besser ein nicht limitiertes Fahrzeug zu verwenden um auf so ein Ergebnis zu kommen, Megane als Basis gibt es genug.

This Megane RS-R costs around 50k stock and with mods 75k. So lets take the cheapest track ready porsche which is a 718 GT4 you have to spend around 90-100k at least.

@@hartmutthomas989 Der RS-R ist von Werk aus 150 Kilo leichter und leergeräumt, hat keine Rücksitze, keine Allrad-Lenkung, Carbon-Motorhaube und Titanabgasanlage und ist als 2-Sitzer eingetragen, obwohl er 5 Türen hat. Zum Thema leergeräumt, bei dem Test hat nur die Plastikabdeckung im hinteren Bereich hat gefehlt, das sind wenn überhaubt nur ein paar Kilo weniger.

@Corvolet5 the Megane did hold the fwd record on the 'ring. And was, like this car a heavily modified basically race car. No back seats etc. Nothing resembled a street car, and no one respected its lap time The Type R may have the "slightest" of changes but is still basically the car you buy from the dealership.

@@danny200mph5 The Megane RS-R you are talking about could be bought at the dealership and is still available as used car the way it did the record lap. The lap of the current civic FL5 has been done with a model that is not available yet, but it is not the current FL5 on sale. If you want to compare it to a Megane the FK8 Limited would be the right one. Both are good tough!
