As a proud Kiwi, (New Zealander), I can say with confidence, New Zealand is so very proud of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Yes, she may be a ONZ, CH, DBE and AC recipient... but she will always be our "girl", no matter what age she is! God bless you Kiri!

@@manuelveytia3961 Hi Manuel. So pleased to read your nice reply. Thank you. Not only is she talented, but Kiri has been a wonderful ambassador representing New Zealand for well over 50 years. My parents had the pleasure of meeting Kiri at a meet and greet after a concert in the 1980`s (Sydney Australia), and confirmed what a truly lovely and genuine person she really is. I lovingly recall a beautiful large print of the Kiri portrait painted by Raymond Ching hanging in our family home in honor of her for many years. She`s as beautiful now as she was then. Wishing you good health and music. Tony.

@@manuelveytia3961 hahahaha... Thank you my friend. You`ve made my day. Yes, I dare say The Lord Of The Rings is probably more popular and well known than the lovely Kiri. As a Kiwi, I would encourage you to visit our beautiful country. So many have been over-whelmed by New Zealand`s beauty. Due to better money, I have lived in Australia for the past twenty years and miss home terribly. (The South Island is truly majestic). Thanks for taking the time to reply. Take care. Tony.

@@manuelveytia3961 As an after thought, clearly we both have a fondness for Kiri. I`ve taken the liberty of attaching two KZbin links: Kiri singing J.Strauss II The Nun`s Chorus, accompanied by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. (Kiri soars above the choir like a majestic eagle). The second is my all time favourite recording of Va, pensiero (Chorus of the Hebrew slaves) by Verdi, performed by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. A great work made memorable by a great choir. James Thomson's words for "Rule, Britannia!", written as part of a masque and set to music by Thomas Arne, became one of the best-known British patriotic songs - quite distinct from the masque which is now virtually forgotten. Frederick, Prince of Wales gave him a pension of £100 per annum. He had also introduced him to George Lyttelton, who became his friend and patron. James Thomson was born in Ednam in Roxburghshire, now Scottish Borders, around 11 September 1700.

Sorry, but Brynn Terfel at the Proms centenary took the cake for me. Brilliantly sung, powerful, but with a joyous sense of cheeky fun in proudly displaying his Welsh patriotism with the ultimate tongue in cheek of singing the third verse in Welsh to peals of laughter from the crowd - made them sing the chorus twice as loud...😉! Rousing, fun and patriotic with a tinge of satire all in the same performance - lightning in a bottle...
