Hot take: Flashpoint control points countdown too fast. By reusing the same timer as other gamemodes it effectively means by the time a team has reached 50%, the other team has to keep contesting or there is just not enough time for everyone to make it back, regroup and make a coordinated push. The timer should be at least 10-15% slower. This also makes heroes with movement abilities more viable on flashpoint.

Honestly they should make them take a bit longer, put a smol spawn speed boost (and/or just move the spawns up a bit) and put it to 3 instead of 5. Keep them random after the center point so games are more different but yeah, not necessary to go to 5.

Hot take: Busan Meka base would be a better map if the walls in the middle were either always up or always down. While this does add variety to the map, I often find it more annoying than beneficial, and the fights/map as a whole would be more balanced if they were always up, or not there at all.

In the past, I never understood why playing tank is so unbearable. After trying to rank up on tank, I completely understand why there are less tank players in the game. You have to counterswap for your own sanity. If you're playing dva into zarya or zarya into rein, as soon as you start loosing you will get flamed immediately. It doesn't matter how well you're playing. People are just looking for someone to blame and being in a tank disadvantage makes you an easy target.

I think your coach nails it with Kiriko and the hot take on Suzu losing invincibility/intangiblity is spot on. Swift step through walks is part of her hero fantasy and prominent in her reveal trailer. It's part of what makes Kiriko, well, Kiriko. My hot take, as long as Suzu cleanses the dps passive as well before applying its healing then that will be a fine change that doesn't go to far, or at least would be a good start.

Counter swapping being meta/"a key part of the game" is what is going to kill the game imho. It's too much of a free pass to allow some heroes to be extremely strong balance wise, purely because "they have a hard counter". Look at the current state of Hog. Look at how Ana was performing a few seasons ago. Look at how hard Pharah/Echo shuts down ANY ground based projectile or melee hero. Junkrat is allowed his extremely fast 1 shot combo back because he's countered so hard by Echo/Pharah that it was the only way to make him viable again. Hanzo is almost the only character this doesn't really apply for at the moment. Because all his counters are at best soft counters. So taking away his one shot on most of the cast makes him feel awful to play but it doesn't necessarily tank his viability because he can still contest Widow and Ashe.

You should check out how The FInals does their scoreboard on non-cashout maps. It shows all your own normal shooting kinda stats, but it should point values for point capping/contest, rezzing, supporting other players (like if theyb use your jump pad or w/e). And it breaks it all down to simple number values. It really seems like the perfect way to do it

@@Dred-Rivals They need to remove MIT anyway. Too many heroes don't make use of it anf It should be a personal stat. It becomes even more useless as the tank or teammates swap to heroes that don't even MIT, so the stat sits there nearly static or barely goes up compared to the rate it was before. Has no reason being there over something like final blows, which everyone gets regardless of hero or role at some point.

My spiciest hot take: there should be a timer/countdown between swaps (starting once the game begins) that prevents you from swapping to another hero until it’s done. This won’t make counterswapping disappear but it should hypothetically cause less counterswapping and give the disadvantaged team an advantage progress wise.

I think karQ or someone talked about this before and it wouldn’t work because the team that picks the “perfect lineup” to counter the other team is random and luck based. If you go heavy dive and the other teams supports are Ana zen then it’s an instant loss of progress in whatever game mode till that timer ends.

Hot take: Devs should double down on Hog being the 'selfish' tank. Greatly nerf the healing he receives from his team and buff his self sustain. Force him to think about his positioning and engagements as he cant be kept up by TaB + 2 supports anymore. Hot take: Anti-healing should be a fixed value, not a percent. Say the DPS passive applied 30% of the damage they deal as anti health: Any healing the target would receive would be deducted from anti-health first. That'd make it so where the tank actually has to be taking real damage from the DPS for them to get value from the DPS passive, rather than just catching a stray tracer bullet from a full map away. Hot take: As a console player, many of us find great enjoyment in “achievement hunting”. To see the number go up quantifies the achievements of our entire gaming experience, not just each one individually. I used to love when new heroes or events came out cuz there were new things to work towards. Blizzard gave up on converting those in game challenges to console achievements shortly after OW2 launch, and now many of us have lost a lot of the fun that came with new events and heroes.

So my statement made it into your video and the thumbnail, I didn't intend that 😅 After hearing the replies and your discussion yeah Kiriko feels like the safer option with her TP's range and cooldown. Given how OW2 feels more encouraging for every role to commit more damage there are those heroes like Kiri, Bap, Illari who feel more geared towards damage, especially now the DPS passive makes it more difficult to sustain those who won't take cover until the effect wears off, sometimes it's just better to kill the enemy if you can.

The temporary alternate modes kind of feel like "Why invest any time in these modes because they're going to be taken away." They also shouldn't look at "What percentage of players are playing a mode at any one time?", they should look at "What percentage of players play different modes sometimes?" I mostly play Quickplay, but if I didn't have other modes I enjoy to blow off steam after a losing streak, I wouldn't want to play QP as much, so even though the vast majority of my playtime is in QP, variety in arcade modes is important. But I don't really want to play something that I know will go away soon anyway, so I usually just stick to deathmatch, mystery heroes, etc. It's unfortunate honestly because if Overwatch actually had the full amount of content that had ever been released for it available, it would be a huge and dense game, but the amount of game types available never grows and always stays the same. It's not even about popularity; they could make these almost function like offline modes, where you can queue with friends but if no one is available after a few minutes, it'll auto-fill the rest of the lobby with bots. It'd be better than having that mode just not available, lost media/lost content indefinitely. Overwatch could almost be like a party game if you could actually play all the hundreds of different game types ever released (and not inferior custom recreations). Makes me wish people could make a modded version of the game that does it, since Blizzard won't.

HOT TAKE: I think going back to 0% ult charge for swapping isn't enough, and that if you swap heroes, your ult charge rate should be REDUCED for the first 30 seconds after you swap to that hero. So maybe you gain ult charge at 50% effectiveness during that time and it becomes normal thereafter.

I like this idea, but the 30s timer is effectively gone by the time you make it back to the fight anyway unless you are playing high mobility. Maybe instead it could be an ult point threshold, and the first 200 ult points you earn are at 50% efficiency.

Hot Take: Show the enemy teams picks before the game starts. While it will not stop counter picking, as counter picking is a fundamental tactic, it will reduce some of the frustration as both teams can choose what they play into rather than swapping after the first fight.

Hot Take: Lifeweaver's fundamental design flaw is that he's really easy to pick up but life grip has a very high skill ceiling because of its potential to remove allies from an advantageous position. Lifegrip is also really frustrating to play against because it can just remove a player instantly from the fight. My solution would to make lifegrip function more like zarya bubble. The player that gets lifegripped has a big notification on their screen that they now have lifegrip for 2-2.5 seconds and they gain a 150 to 200 hp shield. At any time during lifegrips duration, the player can hit the interact key to eject themselves back to LW. The key difference is that you wont be able to hit the interact key if you are stunned and the shield does not protect you from CC unless you hit the interact key to pull yourself back.

Grip value requires coordination when being used to play agro instead of just negating mistakes. Besides that the habilite is just press e in the right time. Petal platform has way more skill involved then grip. Grip is just cancer to be able to undo stuff for just pressing a button. Your ideia of turning it into a a zarya bubble is way more healthy because players can try and sometimes deny it, l can give you that.

Yes people who are a part of the top percent of tank players could probably play one tank and beat everybody that's not the average experience. I agree that it's a "crutch" but also I don't think it's baked in this weird fantasy that people are making up if someone plays hog and someone plays Ana and at least hits you with nad you die. Can you play around it? Yeah If the Ana can't hit anything or if your team goes Kiri. But that's out of your hands and then to other people's hands I think that's the point that's trying to be made here. Hot take: Dva's eject mechanic is awful. I know it has its moments but I'd say majority of the time, if I get demeched as Dva, I'm quickly killed. And even if I'm not, my team is still stuck without a real tank for a fairly prolonged amount of time. I'd rather just die. In addition, I think Dva bomb is one of the worst feeling ults to use. People use it basically as a second life and majority of the time, it doesn't do a whole lot. Perhaps just a skill issue but I'd rather Dva just die like every other character and get a new, more intuitive ult.

Hot take: this community treats this game WAY too harsh when it comes to monetization, for example the "unlocking hero in the battle pass" thing was definitely a dumb thing, but the fact that games like Valorant, Apex and Siege literally give you less than 20% of the total heroes for free when you start is way worse, overwatch gives around 80% and also doesn't take up to a week or even 2 depending on the game to get just one chatacter, but of course Overwatch is the clearly the soulless villian here

Issue of counterswapping has less to do with the fact that you CAN win against your counters (which you certainly can), but the severe increase in skill that's required to do so, paired with the instant value an enemy gets by counterswapping against you. Whether a player 'can' or 'can't', the experience is never fun for the one being countered.

The roadhog rework WAS good imo. The buffs post have been dumb like the hook to 3m instead of 4, damage reduction on breather, etc. I firmly would prefer we lessen his hard counter abilities (biotic grenade to become heal reduction, etc) and tune down hog's health and breather. Hook could arguably pull less as well (5m+). At least test it out.

HOT TAKE: they should just make suzu a single target ability so it wouldnt counter every ult in the game but it would counter bad ult usage (solo ult) or single target abilities like hook or an anti when thrown on cooldown on a tank, and would also allow for her to still have rlly good survivability. ALSO hog needs his dmg transferred more towards his pig pen from his gun to make him more reliant on good cooldown usage and positioning (around pig pen) and stop him just walking around the map killing everything and also stops his tank busing abilities a bit!

But how would that work? Would it then have to be a skill shot or is it like a Brigitte pack? I think the latter because having to aim during a super intense moment like Rein just got anti’d and if you don’t hit,he will just explode in like 0.75 seconds would feel really bad. Also Kiri’s high survivability is one of the things that’s really frustrating about her. I agree about Hog’s gun though,them trying to mix the old primary and secondary fire makes it still feel bad at range while also making it feel like a nuke at close range. Honestly I don’t think the pig pen works and it’s not effective zoning or for making space,it just adds to his DPS

In regards to the hog problem (first hot take), would an effective strategy be to go full dive and absolutely ignore the hog: to ping a dps/support, especially one that's away from hog, and take them out one by one until you can all collapse on the hog? assuming your team's all communicating and on the same page. I guess you'd run a winston/doom/ball, sombra/tracer/echo/genji, kiri/lucio/moira, or something along those lines?

Hot take: I fear that the counter meta is getting worse and bleeding more into the dps and support roles. I’m seeing more games were players are abandoning their ultimate just for the utility to counter the enemy. While I believe that swapping hero’s is fun in overwatch. It has been miserable for the tank experience and if not addressed may become the dps and support experience as well.

Hot take: ball needs to be able to extend grapple, love that they gave the ability to retract (been an advocate for this since ow 1 and shield change since queen in the first ow2 beta) the only counter argument I see is it increases the skill ceiling, however since the 6s grapple limit killing the spin to win crutch and ball being at disadvantage until recently in 5v5, this is just a qol for dedicated ball players who already get flamed by 4 people before the doors open because they can't get value on ball.

You have to play LW like a battlefield commander. Use petals to enable DPS, use grip to save a life, use tree to provide free cover. He's not super strong, but he's pretty solid if you play him as a support, and not just a DPS with heals. At least down in the metal ranks.

4:15 getting 1 pick in a fight as widow is just breaking even. You need 2+ to add value. Widow is so far out of the fight generally that 1 pick is just making it 4v4 if you can't provide more value. To be fair you don't HAVE to get 2 final blows but you do need to be a significant contributor to at least 2 picks.

Moira doesn’t need to be reworked she just needs to be easier to kill. She has so much survivability that lower rank players just can't do anything against her. One small change will make her way more fun to play against: give her a bigger hitbox.

as a moira otp, true. its super easy to just materialize in someone's face shoot a damage orb and then jump around them so they have a really hard time hitting you. i think hitboxes in general are something that blizzard needs to better take into account with balance. for example would zenyatta need his snap kick if his head hitbox wasn't so easy to hit? also kiriko mercy and zarya tend to move their heads around a LOT even for super small movements or just from chip damage making follow up headshots nearly impossible. i doubt blizzard is even aware of these issues and if they are they probably aren't very high on the priority list.

the thing about changing hitboxes is that they either change the hero's visual design with it or people are going to make clips them shooting 3 feet away from a moira and it hitting her and how that doesnt make any sense (which is doesnt, visually and logically.) There should be a visual aid for hitboxes otherwise it fucks with peoples aim and gamesense etc

Im still a believer in a separate quickplay and unranked mode. QP staying as it is (minus the leaver penalty) and unranked with the comp round system and leaver penalties. I know many people who quit playing because the comp mentality was draining and QP games just dont hit the same.

Hot take: make venture immune to knock-ups during the wind-up animation of Burrow. I think that the counterplay to having you be vulnerable during Burrow is good. But randomly being knocked up into being animation locked while falling back to the ground is just not an enjoyable experience and makes Venture very frustrating into heroes like Junk with multiple spammable knocks.

Hot take: I think a reasonable nerf to Kiri would be to add a delay to swift step. Maybe 1 second delay where she is locked out of doing anything before the actual teleport. This will make it punishable and make it a lot more strategic.

Widowmaker is peak DPS character design. one of the highest skill ceiling characters with no free or easy value just by playing her. great team synergy with walls and rewards game sense, map knowledge and playing with the team. if a widow is dominating a match it’s simply because her and her team are playing better.

In order to balance support, they should decrease the base health pool of Supports to 200. This allows Supports to still retain their duelist ability against dps, but also makes them quite a bit more vulnerable than before, discouraging Kirikos/Zens from just tanking your damage. Itll make the Support role a bit more reactive, but I think thats a good thing

I always its wild when people just want supports to be reactive. Every support has atleast one move that is just healing. If you want changes that would make support walking health packs that are just able to fight off a dps long enough for another dps to help them. Then please also call for every dps and tank to lose anything that deals with health and shields.

Hot Take: Overwatch 2 should have climbable ladders (on the actual maps!). For example maps like rialto right after the first point, there's highground you can't reasonable reach with half the roster of heros. It would help characters like reinhard, cassidy etc contest highground just a little bit. You could even make it so you don't have your gun out while climbing, to add a risk/reward to it?

Hot Take: Instead of losing a tank, we should’ve just gotten a third damage character. 7v7 allows for tank synergies while still reducing the dps cue time from 6v6. Having more dps on the field would also reduce the effectiveness of healing without something like the current dps passive

Just under 100 hours on weaver with a 54% win rate. life weaver, when positioned properly can be the most difficult part of a team to deal with with. 70-80hps to a specific person make bring so much value. Grip can be a game changing cooldown if it’s used properly. If you’re staying alive and using your ultimate (although it’s weak imo) properly you can maintain healing about 9k every 10 which is ludicrous to play against. Petal is a counter to ultimates and other lockout features. Best way to explain it is play lw like brig, protect ur other support and pocket ur dps.

Suggestion: Add a Second Ultimate or Evolution Mode Like give a character second ultimate or expand their abilities as temporary buff if the player can reach 200% or make multiple kill or save For example if a Hanzo reach 200% of ultimate he can get shot three dragons in different direction, a different ideas can work for each hero.

Hot take: I hear a lot that Overwatch 2 isn’t balanced at the high levels. However, I think it is actually balanced for top tier play. It just turns out that top tier play only means OWCS/Pro play and not GM/Top 500. GM prayers suffer because people are talented enough to cheese characters, but not coordinated enough to stop the cheese.

Hot Take: Hyperbuffing Tank has made the game more unfun (Tanks still get hit by everything, DPS gets more hit markers before a kill). Ignoring 6v6 or 5v5, a change to tank should be to Hypernerf them. If you make tanks significantly more squishy while maintaining supporting abilities (bubble, matrix etc.) it decreases the perceived threat making so that the active threat, like a DPS, eats more cooldowns making the tank feel better as they aren’t the cooldown target while still leading the team with their abilities.

I gave up on Ana becos there is always a kiri in the team. Her base kit is so easy to use and time that anybody can pick her to save the hog.

See the main problem with that is being that projectile heroes like pharah junk hanzo have more or less skill expression, while all hitscan heroes have is just skill expression. Consistency is key in an fps. Non hitscan heroes don’t offer much consistency unless they’re really really good/broken. I’ve always said I’ve rather get 2 tapped by an Ashe then 2 tapped by a pharah.

Hot Take: Overwatch 2 has lost the magic of the first game. Where is the hero buildup before launch and the story behind them? Why is the game so monotonous now even when trying to have fun in quickplay. 5v5 is also fundamentally flawed because the Tank Role was designed around synergy with another tank. Putting the pressure of the frontline onto one tank and one player only detracts from the collaborative aspect of what the game was supposed to be about.

Most of the balance patches are smaller than the community wants because the game is actually very balanced. It's mostly player perception making things feel unbalanced but aside from the occasional outlier, the entire roster is statistically very balanced.

true take : Every complain from tank players are just about the counterswap, more in 5V5 than 6V6. But it's a best way to see who is the real tank players. In 6V6, so many DPS players go on tank and playing Hog and Ball (Reinhardt and Zarya sometimes) because of DPS time queue. The experience about this, is bad because, even if you hard carry, tanks will throw the game (voluntarily or not). Maybe it was fun for tanks (for many reasons, good or not), but not for DPS/support In 5V5, you should learn lots of tanks (not all, because it's a nightmare and not fun to play). If you don't know how to be flexible, you automaticly lost, even if support and DPS switch. And complain in the end for social media And this is the best way how to play tanks : flexible, resilient, careful, patient, thinking about teamates, CD etc... it's a new gameplay and you should learn about it. Complains about small community are only from OTP (Ball, Hog, Reinhardt and Zarya), but they are just ridiculous and boomers mentallity. If they don't know how to play tank role, it's time to retirement

Hot take: Baptiste, whom players have regarded as too all-around perfect for years, could be fixed by making his primary fire a projectile. Don't change any metrics-- he would have the same overall damage ceiling potential, but it would require more skill to reach it.

Kiriko has great kill potential, which can be more than other dps characters. If anything, you should question why kiriko is the answer for dealing with a widow. Because two tap from widows range is stupid. Also, her rate of fire.
