I know it's a joke, but as someone who know a bit about real life combat, going for a stabbing hit on the Head or hands or even chest is much easier to dodge than your legs that you put your weight on. so Kirito choose the place with the highest chance of hitting. But also, In the LN he choose to hit Johnny Black's leg so he will not be able to run after Asuna and Asuna can escape.

Just so you can have background on what this series is leading to, the STL machine which accelerates time within the game is kind of an Easter Egg of the other series the author made which connects to SAO but in a more distant future. That series' name is Accel World, where instead of VRMMO or Diving, they have neuro transmitter that is like a miniature version of STL.

Season 3 is broken up in two parts (technically 3), right now this is part 1, then moving onwards to war of underworld is part 2. They cut war of underworld in half, and now we are currently watching the final part of war of underworld which can also be considered season 3 part 3. Although some people decide to think of it as season 4 or 5. To make it better to understand: SAO alicization = Season 3 part 1 SAO alicization War of Underworld = Season 3 part 2 SAO alicization War of Underworld part 2 = Season 3 part 3 Although, most websites just add both parts of WoU, so it's less confusing.
