I just want to say this. I'm proud of my State of Iowa. I am 50 years old and a proud Hawkeye. I wish the media would truly understand and talk about how since I really started to watch and follow football our program has had 2 coaches. 2 coaches in my lifetime! Then the pedigree of assistants who have gone on to be head coaches is unbelievable. Through thick and thin we stick with our coaches. Not only because of the wins, but for the young boys that they mold into men. Yes we have had a few bumps and bruises over the years, but overall a program that is done right. I hope that continues no matter what happens this season, next, or 25 years down the line. I just pray that the next HC for the Hawkeyes is just as good of a man as Coach Hayden Fox and Coach Kirk Ferentz. In the meantime I have will enjoy this dream season and hope it ends with Ferentz holding a National Championship Trophy, if not then I will be bleeding black and gold next year.

Congrats to Iowa, always been a fan of Ferentz and his program and as a penn state fan as much as I wanted to win I’m glad the B1G ( other than Ohio state ) is getting some respect again. As far as the fans and some staff booing our players when they were hurt, I definitely think that was wrong and I’m sure Ferentz will have something to say about it. I’ve been to Iowa for a game and it’s a great Atmosphere with great people so I was shocked to hear that happening, gotta be better.Good luck rest of season Hawkeyes!

I think it was knee jerk reaction where everyone is so invested in the game and felt Penn St was intentionally stopping the momentum. I dont think anyone was actually booing the injuries nor was that their intent. In games like this where the stakes are high and everyone is caught up in the game, they lose sight of some things. They may have been quick to rush judgement but I dont think anyone honestly was booing the injury....just what they thought was a suspect way to game and stop the momentum. We know in hindsight that was wrong. People make bad judgements in the heat of the moment but it doesnt mean their intent or hearts were in the wrong place.

@@joeydiedrich it was NOT booing the injured players...it was booing the (like the TV commentators said ALSO) the cheating...the fake injuries over and over after every big Iowa play..to stop the crowd noise, to stop the momentum. He started traditions, demanded fairness, and founded the highest integrity program in college football. Look up Hayden Fry's story. (Then look up Dan Gable's story.) Love this team and this football program, best football program in the country in terms of level of talent to consistent outcomes. I think anyone would be hard pressed to find a power 5 program that does more than Iowa does on such a regular basis with the same level of recruiting talent. Part of what makes these lawsuits and accusations so hard to believe is how this man acts day in and day out and how his players talk about him, I've heard far more players, past and present, say positive things about this team, program and coach than I've ever heard bad things. No matter what the truth is I hope they get things sorted and the program moves forward in a positive manner because we want everyone to feel welcome in Iowa and in this football program no matter where they come from, what color their skin is, what socio-economic background they come from etc.... people are people and there's far more that brings us together than divides us but we so often lets those small differences become such a huge divide between us, we are all people, we will all die there's really no difference except for how we treat each other during the brief time we have on this earth.

Kirk, you darn well better be emotional about this! Twenty-two years ago the Iowa AD chose you over Bobbly Stoops. It only took you two decades to put a great team together. Bobby won a National championship his second year and in his 17 years 10 Conference Championships, and a bowl game each of those 17 years. He recruited absolutely everywhere. Yet Iowa settled for gum-chewing failure, who, until this year, has not produced. Yes, Kirk, thank your lucky stars that the planets aligned for you this year, or you'd be coaching some Division 1 college.

Such a lame excuse. So how did he get hurt? Oh, the defense beat the o-line. If the o-line would have blocked better or if Clifford would have scrambled better, maybe the injury wouldnt have happened. So this age old excuse, and it is one, doesnt hold any merit or weight. You dont know how things would have unfolded. Bottom line is Clifford got beat because one guy was better than another guy at making the play. The hit was legal and the injury was because someone got beat. Thats called "playing better". Every team has to deal with injuries. Any team that relies on just 1 guy isnt a good team. Thats what you're essentially implying

I hope he'll be okay, as he is a quality quarterback with an excellent team surrounding him, but what I've witnessed over the last 30 years, every team that goes up against the Hawkeyes seems to end up with multiple players exiting the game with injuries. This comes from Iowa having better conditioning and training coaches. Hawks have the total package for their players which starts with the training, conditioning, and discipline of their athletes. This is a young team with unlimited potential playing in the toughest conference in America. Every year there's 5 , 6, or 7 Big 10 teams rated in the top 25. Penn St. WILL bounce back as time has proven , but this is Iowa's season and NO excuses can take that away. They play 60 minutes every game and the Defense the Hawks have, is undeniably the best this year. Go Hawks

He had complete good drive all game. Also one nice scramble for a score after a turnover in Iowa territory. All year Iowa has broken QBs as the game wears on (see Maryland, ISU, Indiana) and I don’t think it would have been any different. Regardless, we’re both just speculating because protecting your QB is a part of the game and PSU failed at that on Saturday

I agree. I was pretty shocked at how the whole offense folded after Clifford went down. PSU is not a top 5 or even top 10 team if the offense can't perform without its starting QB.

Your QB runs he will get hit. Hits add up. If he was bigger maybe he would get away with it but he is not. Iowa’s 6’5” 250 pound LB lit him up and that was that. I line let that one happen but the runs before he got hit also and it was only a matter of time before he got injured or threw enough picks to be pulled.
