Absolutely! Back in the day, we trusted that the media "fact-checked" before they reported. Now, we're so afraid to speak our thoughts for fear of "offending" someone. I agree, we need to begin being bold and speak truth in love, and be able to discuss things in a cordial manner with respect for differences in opinions/ideas.

Thankful for those who God has raised up and called to speak the truth in love. May we support them. Been following Eric since Socrates in the City, read most of his books. Don't agree with everything but am glad for his voice and communication, interviews with others.

Not related but KZbin will constantly block my Christian themed memes I upload on my story. I find it disturbing because the content that actually makes it through is in most cases offensive. In terms of language and images and opinions. The voice of the morally uncorrupt people is being silenced just about every day.

Jesus said " I did not come to bring peace but a sword, father will be against son and mother against daughter" ( paraphrased). One needs to learn the difference between being a good person vs a polite person. A good person condemns evil and promotes good despite adversity. A polite person will cave any debate for the sake of being polite!

Surely "good" and polite can work together. I have been divided from family and old friends I grew up with, because of my faith. We don't fight. I have to "turn the other cheek" at times when rumours or crude jokes have been made, but at other times there is civil debate, and occasionally I am asked for a Christian perspective on things. There are various sections of the Bible that instruct us this way. To be honest, I struggle with that line between righteous anger and just "getting something off my chest." The Christian Church, as stated above, has allowed some atrocious behaviour in it's history. "Polite society" didn't want to get involved. So, how do *you* remain civil whilst doing the greater good, then?

@@jasonayres I would say it lies in when others want you to compromise or remain silent about your faith and integrity for the sake of being polite. A good example would be if you had a friend that was a member of the " LGBTQ" movement who got offended by God's veiw on homosexuality. Do you continue to call it sin knowing it will upset that friend and possibly lose that friendship or do you remain steadfast and let them deal with it? A polite person would remain silent so as not to offend, something Jesus never did!

@The Dude Anyone can have a debate. One must first remember to keep the commandment " Love your neighbor as yourself" to " bless those who curses you" and " forgive those who have wronged you." With that it mind, truth must prevail!

@@joshsetzer8786 When you love all of God's creation, what sword are you using? That saying sounds more like the followers who wanted to attack the Romans than Jesus' teaching that we are all one in God. Jesus definitely came for peace.

For I have come to set a son against his father, a daughter against her mother , a daughter in law against her mother in law, so that a man's enemies will be members of his own household." ( Matthew 10 34-36) The world hates those who preach the Gospel ( Matthew 10: 22), Satan wages war on " those who keep the testimony of Yeshua the Messiah ( Jesus Christ) and keep his commandments. " ( Revelation 12 : 17) If one refuses to preach the Gospel out of fear of offending, then that person really is not a disciple of Yeshua!

I'm in seminary. My spiritual formation professor wrote a paper promoting cancel culture. Yuck. FYI All of my other profs. have been great.

@@meekthegreek1623 I get confused with that though. I don’t agree with canceling people or free speech but is that different then not giving our money to places we don’t support. For example, Disney is now choosing to go down the road off promoting LGBTQ things and disagreeing with Floridas stance on not teaching such things to our young kids. Therefore, for the sake of our kids, I will choose to not spend my money at Disney parks or on their streaming services. Is that wrong? Is that cancel culture? This is an honest question….not trying to be difficult.

Some Scriptures about hell by Jesus himself and how not to go there: In Luke 16:19-31 Jesus describes a rich man that lived lavishly and a poor beggar man named Lazarus. It came to pass that Lazarus died and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom. The rich man died, was buried, then went to hell. 23 And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in TORMENT, saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue, for I am tormented IN THIS FLAME. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received good things, and likewise Lazarus received evil things, but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that they which would pass from hence to you can not, neither can they pass to us, and would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray you therefore father, that you would send him to my father’s house. 28 For I have 5 brothers that he may testify unto them, lest also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham said unto him, They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay father Abraham, but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” LOCATION OF HELL: Jesus said in Matthew 12:40, ”For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the HEART OF THE EARTH.” Paul said in Ephesians 4:9, ”Now that he ascended, was it but that he also DESCENDED into the LOWER PARTS OF THE EARTH.” HELL IS A PLACE OF FIRE: Jesus said in Luke 16:24,”….Father Abraham have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue for I am TORMENTED IN THIS FLAME.” Jesus said in Matthew 13:42,”And shall cast them into a FURNACE OF FIRE, there shall be WAILING AND GNASHING OF TEETH.” Jesus said in Matthew 25:41,”Then shall he also say to them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, INTO EVERLASTING FIRE, prepared for the devil and his angels.” Jesus said in Revelation 20:15,”And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.” HELL IS A PLACE OF TORMENT: Jesus said in Luke 16:23,”And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in TORMENT….” 24 …..for I am TORMENTED in this flame.” Jesus said in Revelation 14:11,”And the smoke of their TORMENT ascended up FOR EVER AND EVER, and they have no rest day or night….” Jesus said in Mark 9:45-46,”And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off, it is better for you to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the FIRE THAT NEVER SHALL BE QUENCHED. 46 Where their WORM DIES NOT, and the fire is not quenched.” Note that it doesn’t say “THE Worm”, it says “THEIR WORM” dies not. Jesus said in Revelation 21:8,”But the fearful and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whore mongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, which is the second death.” Note that Brimstone is Sulfur and burns with a very strong odor of rotten eggs. The scriptures above prove when a person goes to hell they will constantly see hell, constantly smell hell, constantly feel the heat of hell, will constantly breath hell, will constantly hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth of others in hell, will constantly be aware of their own worms, they will have no rest day or night, there is no way out and it will continue for ever and ever, they can’t die because they are already dead. The following is how to not go there and it is a SIMPLE AND EASY thing to do: All of the book of Acts is what Jesus disciples said what we must to be SAVED - meaning not go to hell, which is repentance, water baptism in Jesus NAME, (Not the titles Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) and being baptized with the Holy Ghost. Jesus said in Mark 16:16,"He that believes and is BAPTIZED shall be SAVED, but he that believes not shall be damned." At about that same time He said in Matthew 28:19,"Go therefore and teach all nations BAPTIZING them in the name (SINGULAR name and not name's) OF the Father, and OF the Son, and OF the Holy Ghost." Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are titles and not names. Jesus disciples never used those words when they baptized anyone in water, nor did they use those words in one sentence regarding any other topic. Every time they invoked Jesus NAME at baptism which is Acts 2:38, Acts 8:14-18, Acts 8:38, Acts 9:18, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 16:15, Acts 16:33, Acts 18:7, Acts 18:8, Acts 19:3-5, and Acts 22:16. Jesus said in John 3:3-7,"Verily, verily I say unto you, Except a man BE BORN AGAIN, he can not see the kingdom of God. 5 Verily, verily I say unto, Except a man be born of water AND of the Spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 7 Marvel not that I say unto you, YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN." Being born of water is being baptized in water which is for the REMISSION OF SINS - meaning the INITIAL remission of sins and not the confessing of sins later addressed in 1 John 1:9. Being born of the Spirit is being baptized with the Holy Ghost. What being baptized with the Holy Ghost means is addressed in Acts 2:3-4, (Pentecost), Acts 8:17, Acts 9:18, Acts 10:44-48, and Acts 19:3-5 - which is when the Spirit of Christ initially dwells in a person. Nowhere in Scripture does it say it happens any other way than that way. There is not one Scripture that says a person receives the Holy Ghost just because they are a believer. Paul said in Romans 8:9-11,”But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if so be that the spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, HE IS NONE OF HIS." Numbers 23:19, ”God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent, has he said and shall he not do it? And shall he not make it good?” Malachi 3:6,”For I am the Lord, I change not...” Hebrews 13:8,”Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” That means there is no reason to think that Jesus will make an exception and save someone that has not been baptized in water in Jesus NAME, and has not been baptized with the Holy Ghost. Some say the thief on the cross next to Jesus was not baptized yet Jesus told him he would be in paradise with him that day. Jesus had not given the COMMANDMENT to be baptized in HIS NAME until after he had risen from the dead and before he ascended into heaven. The thief on the cross could not have been baptized because he did not know about it. If you are convinced you need to get baptized in water in Jesus Name do a search and type in "United Pentecostal Church International", scroll down to just below the red box, type in your zip code, a screen will show a Church near you that will do that. Jesus said John 10:27, ”My Sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

When we look for and accept our shared truth that we are all created in the likeness of God, then the political and social differences are not what is real. That takes forgiveness, turning the other cheek which means we are not as war in real terms, only in appearances. "Judge not by appearance but judge by righteous judgment." Canceling others is judgment. When you do so you are canceling yourself from the kingdom of God by excluding others who are created as you are.
